TownTV commentary said that Hirst may have instigated the contact as he swung back his foot to shoot, and seemed to think a VAR check happened. If so, similar to our disallowed penalty vs Everton at home, which was harsh. I haven't seen it. |

Just keep checking the ticketing website during the day for returns. Two just came and went while I'm typing this. If you keep looking, you'll be able to get one. |

A bunch of their fans waiting as we left the stand and clapping us and joining in with Sir Bobby songs genuinely brought a tear to my eye. Total respect for Newcastle. |

I've picked up away tickets four or five times and every single time they've asked for ID. But yeah, just mine (as I bought them), not every single person's ID - only whoever's Supporter ID was used to buy the tickets. [Post edited 25 Apr 10:08]

They've been popping up all day. More returns than usual for an away match. |

Just check the ticketing website regularly this week, especially on Thursday / Friday. There are always lots of returns. |

There's only S229 left - they're all in that section, the rest are sold out. |

I think one of the problems with VAR is that the on-field ref doesn't want to make a decisive decision, so plays safe and gives a yellow, thinking if it was worse, then VAR overrules. But VAR now generally just goes with the on-field decision and doesn't get involved. From upper SAR I thought it was 'orange', but looking down on it from above, I didn't realise Pedro jumped. That's what makes it a red. If he was running and his momentum takes him into Walton then fine, yellow. But the ball was on the ground, and by jumping Pedro was out of control and endangering Walton. It should have been a red. |

Fair cop, yeah, they should have sent it back. No, I'm not happy about it, and I probably won't do it again. |

Yeah, I'm stuck on 19 but my daughter's on 22 now. We go to games together, so I've had to either go in the home end or go on someone else's ticket. The most annoying thing is that earlier in the season I had chances to get that extra point, but because I had other commitments, didn't get it knowing other people would want to go just as much as me. Kind of wish I'd been more selfish now. Oh well. My main message to people in higher brackets would be if you can't go, send your ticket back - don't just keep them for the point - you're already guaranteed most games, and getting a ticket on resale is probably going to be the only way I get onto 20 points. I live in the Midlands - not a season ticket holder either. Every match (home or away) costs a lot in travel let alone the tickets. It's an expensive thing, going to matches. My Man City supporting mate tells me I should just watch on the TV like him as it's cheaper, warmer, and you don't get stuck in traffic jams. Totally agree with you. A season ticket is for home games. It's right that the two systems home and away are separate (other than both requiring membership). [Post edited 20 Dec 2024 9:29]

Oh, totally agree with you on the season ticket idea - unworkable. I meant indignant about potentially missing the Bournemouth game - see earlier in the thread. |

“ Bottom line is it was easy to get away tickets last season and most of those people who are moaning at missing out were obviously not interested in going to six games, which would have pretty much guaranteed them a ticket to all but 2 or 3 away games this season.” As someone who attended six away games last season, this isn’t accurate. The only game I’ve been guaranteed a ticket to this season was Southampton. Just because it gets down to lower priority windows, that in no way guarantees anyone a ticket. Every other game has been a mad scramble selling out in minutes, where if you click on the same ticket as someone else, or your internet is slow or whatever, you miss out. Some I’ve got, some I haven’t. And if I haven’t, it’s been checking the ticketing site hoping for resales. Same for home games - I’ve got one in the ballot this year, otherwise it’s queuing, hoping for resales etc. Not that I’m moaning. I just think it’s ironic that those in the 30+ are indignant that they might have to go through something similar (and maybe miss out on ONE match) on just one occasion. Ps. Would love to join you at Swansea next year, shame we won’t be playing them, though, the Town are staying up! [Post edited 20 Dec 2024 7:43]

Not really. The system is in place so that those that go to more matches get a higher priority and therefore higher chance of getting future tickets than those who go to fewer matches. It's not about guaranteeing a ticket for anyone. Not introducing a higher bracket would probably also discourage people from abusing the system (i.e. buying tickets for matches that they're not able to attend, just to get the away point) - something which already happens a lot - encouraging returns and therefore actually making the system more effective. |

Or, maybe those in the 30+ will just have to go through the 'fastest finger first' scramble for tickets that those of us in lower brackets have to go through every match? |

Since the priority systems for home and away are totally separated (other than just having the membership), you're better off committing to one or the other (so, having season ticket OR away points) and accepting that you're either a home fan or an away fan. Unless you have the finances and freedom to be both... I'm in a similarish situation. As someone who lives in the Midlands, I've generally split games between home and away, but this hasn't really worked in my favour. Considered buying season tickets a couple of years ago, but knowing that evening games and quite a few Saturdays would be out, didn't bother. So for home games, now it's the lottery. So far got Fulham on the Monday morning, and Everton has been my first successful ballot. I'm on 18 points for away, have managed to get Man City and Southampton so far. Got my daughter a West Ham ticket, but I'm going to have to sit with the home fans :( Interesting that there has been a lot of moaning about the away points system, but agree, it's the home game system that is less fair. I thought the Huddersfield game last year was about fair in terms of prioritising. I did find it surprising that this season the threshold for the first ballot is so low. |

Yeah, I think just the case of if it's a group application, you all win or none win, but the benefit is you get to sit together. If it's individual, then some might win and some might not. But it sounds like they weight the probability of winning so each person still has the same chance whatever. |
