1) my point was that its official name has never been 'english premier league' as was suggested in the previous post 2)there is some historical debate whether some welsh clubs applied or were actually invited - point is they were accepted - more relevant is the fact that they were founder members of the FL Div 3 thus justifying their place in english competition today
@kingchopra - "clues in the name ENGLISH Premier League" - but its not called the English Premier League the word 'English' doesn't or never has appeared in its title.
@Dissboyitfc - FYI Swansea were INVITED into the Southern league at around 1913 and were later FOUNDER MEMBERS of the Football League 3rd Division in 1920. The club has remained in the FL ever since until its promotion to the premier league last season - that is why they participate in english competition.
