mainly because of his links to Sir Bobby, but a very touching tribute to Diogo Jota.
I remember him saying that he would like a different type of challenge in the premier league, and if we go up, and Kieran has moved on, imagine if he came here. He has mellowed a lot, but you would still rather him on your side than against you. A good man.
Do you miss parts of the old regime Phil? I mean that there is no controversy to report on any more, or managers or players breaking ranks. A division between owner and manager, or manager and players, or players and fans, like in the past must have been exciting to report on, and good for numbers. Everything seems so well managed and controlled now, which is good in many ways. If you asked Kieran about a possible player signing, you must know what answer you are going to get. But if you asked say Paul Cook, maybe you would get something different.
a deal, if West Ham were to let him go. A good player, but obviously a big risk after his injury, and probably demands a salary out of our range still, despite his fitness?
I understand that. I think I'm just old fashioned. I love text cricket, and to me, we don't play it the right way. I'd like to see England in a couple of draws one day!
I really loathe this bazball stuff. The way Smith just gave away his wicket, and Brook trying his best too to do the same. Ben Foakes is the best keeper we have by a mile, if not the world, but just because he doesn't launch the ball into the stands time and again, he won't get a look in. Fair enough for the shorter forms of the game, but we don't treat some of our players, test cricket or our opponents very respectfully. Same with Jack Leach. There is merit in being steady and tying up an end, but they seem locked in with Bashir. Looks like Sam Cook will be discarded as well. line and length and county championship performances don't count anymore. It also feels like as soon as Pope makes one poor score, Bethell will be in. I will be pleased when Stokes and McCollum have moved on, however exciting most people find it, it's not test match cricket for me.
Is it just his integrity, that would stop him taking a list of players that Brentford's scouting system has generated, to his new club. Same really for any new manager at a new club.
I had a feeling there was going to be a lot of black on the home kit this year. Only because of the large amount of colour black around the stadium though.
I think that unless you can afford the very best of these type of forwards, struggling teams just can't afford the luxury of your smaller, nippy wide players. Teams like Palace and forest have shown it is attributes like pace and power that will help you to succeed in the premier league.
