Take back the fee on Greaves
at 04:58 13 Jul 2024

Having taken a better look at Greaves over the last week, his numbers and videos, I don’t think £15m isn’t a bad ball park for him actually - in fact I think I’ve reversed a little and think it was too much for Philogene but Greaves number looks about right.

Left footed, young CB, by all accounts ready for the step up.

Take it back regarding fee, apologises. Welcome to Town, Jacob!

£40m for Philogene and Greaves is scandalous by the way
at 10:24 9 Jul 2024

Games gone mad.

I’m not saying they aren’t bad players by the way, but for £20m a piece, Hull have done us like a kipper financially.

As a newly promoted club, you can’t get £20m signings wrong, and to be paying £20m a pop for Philogene & Greaves looks overpriced to me.

Rodon went for £10m last week.

Gus Hamer?
at 10:19 4 Jul 2024

Gustavo Hamer from Sheffield Utd, would cost around £10m you'd think.

Would our system perfectly.

Has that tenacity & technique, an upgraded version of Luongo really.

One that has to be looked at.

Now that would be smart business.

Inside left (Broadhead role), and number 10 role versatility.

My Transfer List - Thoughts?
at 15:08 2 Jun 2024

Just a brush of realistic, attainable, sensible and depth signings.

Adam Webster - worry at Woolfendens pace in the PL, Webster known to Ipswich, Ashton, Chaplin fits the mould of a ball playing, commanding CB with PL experience - him and Burgess would be a powerful partnership

Josh Brownhill - into final year at Burnley and could be on a low fee, with PL experience and Ashton links could be an option in CM depth.

Aaron Cresswell - believe will be a free agent, and with the technical ability very similar to Davis, at his age would be a perfect understudy, historical connection to Ipswich always helpful.

Omari Hutch - would be the stellar signing you believe, at around £15m-£20m would be the statement to bring the talented player back, already integrated to our way of playing

B.Brereton Diaz - situation at Villareal looks like he will head for the exit, fits the mould of Striker we would want and would compliment our striking options and competition with Hirst.

G.Hamer - From relegated Sheff Utd, a combative and aggressive central midfielder with technique to accompany, almost an upgraded Luongo - would be achievable in the region of £10m you'd feel from Sheff Utd, would be my number 1 preference to join Morsy in midfield.

Other names to think about if required in certain positions: K.Moore, A.Weimann, J.Duran, J.Sarmiento, J.McAtee, C.Carter-Vickers, J.Tanganga, R.Sessongon, T.Fellows, L.Thomas, B.Johnson

Drama Over.
at 19:56 27 May 2024

Can draw a line in the last few weeks and realign our full focus on the incredible 2 years we have had and the incredible enjoy we are on.

As I’ve said previously, I haven’t liked the public go around of KMc reps, or the play through press, it’s not for me, but it’s part of the game I guess.

Maybe a lesson for some to just relax and not jump to conclusions, some of the comments both here and Twitter would have done more harm than good.

People seem to be taking 5 steps ahead
at 23:27 20 May 2024

Unless I’m mistaken at this stage there is nothing but interest from clubs in KMc, which is absolutely understandable given the job he has done in the last two years.

Gut instinct is he won’t leave for Brighton, I think he’ll continue with this project, and the incredible club he has built here over 2 years, rather than start afresh at Brighton - whilst a great club themselves of course no guarantee of success there, sometimes things don’t work elsewhere they way they have worked here.

However if a Man Utd or Chelsea firm up real interest, that would be an opportunity/project he’d have to take.

He will always be admired and adored by myself personally here for the job he has done at this club, and hoping he continues to lead the club to its next level of ambitions.

Baby Girl Born, Ipswich Premier League
at 00:32 5 May 2024

It’s been a hell of week.

I welcomed my first baby tractor girl to the world on Wednesday, her first game was Ipswich being promoted to the Premier League.

27 years home and away, up and down the country, up and down the leagues, travelling from young boy with my brother and dad, all following our club that we love, this week has made everything worth it, for the emotions I have experienced this week. I cannot wait to add the next generation of the family to our journeys.

I have no shame in saying, I’ve shed a lot of tears today.

Time to bounce back...
at 11:03 8 Apr 2024

Saturday was a poor display, we looked flat in every sense of the word, and that can happen from time to time, it simply gets marked down as a bad day at the office and you move on - unfortunately ours came against our rivals - but it doesn't change the fact you learn from it, box it off, and move on.

We are still right in the hunt for an automatic place, which in itself is a ridiculous achievement this late in the season.

We give everything, and we see where the journey takes us.

The gut says play-offs still, I do think we are just shy of Leeds & Leicester, but it won't stop us pushing all the way to the end.

Possibly freshen up for Wednesday:
Hladky
Clarke - Woolfenden - Burgess - Davis
Morsy - Taylor
Jackson - Chaplin - Broadhead

It turns out to be a really successful window
at 21:00 1 Feb 2024

A bit nervy towards the end, but analyse, an extremely talented winger, combative experienced central midfielder, EFL hot prospect centre forward & a proven Championship goal scorer you would say great business done.

Think Kieffer is a fantastic addition, real pedigree, will integrate in to the group quickly given his connections with so many; Chaplin (Barnsley), Morsy (Wigan), Evans (Wigan), Broadhead (Wales), Burns (Wales), Woolfenden (Ipswich), Davis (Bournemouth)

A disappointing game
at 18:01 27 Jan 2024

But no need to over analyse a freak day.

The cup draws some bizarre days, we aren’t the first and will not be the last.

We actually played really really well for so much of the game, two counter punches which I’m sure KMc and staff will look at.

So many factors to speak of today, clinical finishing at two extremes, lady luck & big decisions that were got wrong by the referees.

We wish Maidstone the very best, I hope they get a big draw, and for us we tie up some important transfers and get back to business next week.

Great point in the end
at 17:31 30 Sep 2023

Horrible game, far far from our best, and huge credit to Huddersfield who were incredibly effective in their work.

It’s a great point in the end, where it didn’t look like it for so long.

It’s an attribute you have to have to dig when things aren’t going smoothly and salvage something, and we have that.

Never write this side off. COYB!

Every time I watch us
at 23:19 25 Jul 2023

I walk away thinking what a really really good side we are - highly drilled, technically very good players throughout, and so so enjoyable to watch us play football.

First half brilliant - Chaplin is simply a magician. Second half a little more disjointed with all change for both sides - but still looked lively in attack.

Couple of side points:
- Certainly one CB required - Edmundson still finding the pace again after so long out which is understandable

- Hutchinson - could have a real player there, still raw, but can see talent and work rate - look forward to his development this year

Shopping List
at 13:57 31 May 2023

Will post my list and then see where we are come the start of the season. Do you agree?

I'll start by saying I think we only need a couple of additions, a few tweaks but nothing drastic.

Sonny Bradley - left footed highly experienced central defender who would fill that void left by Richard Keogh, just with more years ahead of him and genuine competition for Burgess. As a free agent it looks as good a business as we could do in that role.

Scott Twine - Would probably be a loan, but would be a big upgrade on Edwards and Harness, given he didn't get into Burnley side last season, a move away looks likely.

Joel Piroe - the clinical striker, would probably cost a decent fee, but at 23 has future sale value, and has proven over two seasons his clinal prowess.

Likely to see more out than in, with the likes of; Pigott, Harness, Edwards, Harper, Ahadme people we will all listen to offers on, with El Miz, Ndaba and Baggott probably back on the loan market.

Let's see how the window unfolds.

The perfect away display
at 17:17 11 Mar 2023

Struggle to think of a better away display in KMc tenure.

Scrappy when we needed to be, but looked after possession far better than Bolton when it was required as well, especially in the turnover.

I actually thought Hirst and Burns were really struggling up until the 40th minute, both the goal seemed confidence through Hirst especially and he put in a real no.9 display that was a real high level.

The game is owed to Walton, saving the penalty straight after halftime with it at 1-0, can’t be underestimated the importance of that.

But the wider game was really won with Luongo and Morsy, absolutely controlled the central area today - outstanding.

It’s a massive win, cuts the gap to Plymouth, but cannot get carried away. Enjoy the day, enjoy the result, but still so much work to be done in the season.
