Celtic Defender Linked
at 18:41:39

no doubt there is a lack of left sided players in the squad (left full and left mid), all of the left footers in the squad are happier in central roles, colback, garvan, delaney, etc
my recollection of naylor a few years back were of a very good attacking full back who would add an awful lot to the team football wise, unfortunately for a player who at his age should now be at his peak, he is failing to make the celtic team, that can only be because he still has not learned the defensive side of the full backs game, which was very weak. Still might be a good option depending on the price.

No chance of a striker coming in with the number of attacking players on the books. There are plenty of options there, even if none have blinding pace. Though the manager is doing most things right, I would question a little a possible over emphasis on form in training, there have always been players who are excellent on the training field, without a lot of the pressures of a competitive game (crowd, media, etc), and players who come alive in pressurised match situations, who may not shine always in training. Wickham - huge potential but may be overused at present.

The midfield on sat is clearly the best combination, I would ask for more rotation among them when in possession as all are comfortable across the field. I would try Priskin with Counago or John next Sat, though you lose the aerial ability, captaincy and honesty of Walters. Might be worth a try in cup, with Stead/Walters partnership to return in league. Its time to find out if Priskin/Counago are really up for the battle, and that will be tested in cup game.

Keane: Big Challenge Ahead
at 09:28:57

In defence of the manager his two £1m+ signings, Martin and Priskin, may not be proven championship players, but both are young, are potentially quality players, and should give a decent return on that investment in time.
Its obvious the squad is a long way behind the WBA's, Newcastle's and Middlesboro's. I think the manager's tinkering with the formation is his biggest mistake so far. Tinkering with formations is fine with a settled squad. It is much more difficult for new players to gel when they are asked to play in different formations. They started with 433 and should stick with it.
Walters and Martin should be left in the positions they started the season, where they had done ok. Its time to put Priskin in and stick with him for a few games, he is very much a confidence player. The defence hasn't been good, but unfortunately the main culprit wasn't identified. Delaney might not be great, but he is clearly the best left full at the club at the moment. Pim is fairly promising, but his inexperience is the main problem at the back, and that was the case from the first match this season. Healy will do ok as a holding player in a midfield 3.The other two positions are a problem, Colback may not be quite up to it, but he looks the pick of what is there at the moment. While Peters did well against Coventry, he lacks the presence for a central position. You need players it that position who can scrap and play, and that is where the focus should be in the transfer market this week.

Keane: I\'ve Learned a Lot About My Players
at 13:00:14

It seems to me the real story last night is that Ambrose, in particular, their manager and the Palace team after what happened them Saturday, came very highly motivated and would probably have beaten anyone on the night.
The manager took some responsibility and rightly so, he left his defence exposed last night by playing 4 out and out attacking players, Trotter & Healy didnt play in this Division last year and need time to get to the pace of the game. Pim is potentially an outstanding defender but McAuley and himself may not be a partnership.Putting Bruce at left side centre back, between Delaney and McAuley to pick up the pieces might help, with Wright at right back, though any combination would have been tested last night.
Healy will come good in midfield with the right partners, possibly Garvan and Quinn/new signing.
I would leave the front 3 that started the season with Priskin and Wickham to come in, though none of the 3 central strikers seem capable at the moment of playing that role in a 433, (Wickham certainly will be in future).

Irish Pair to Sign?
at 14:16:27

On the basis of the players signed so far, I would say trust the manager's judgement.
Colin Healy at £60k must be one of the buys of the season. He was heading to be a top player 7/8 years ago before suffering two broken legs, but by all accounts is now back near top form. If those two are anywhere near the same class for similar money, sign them.
