McCarthy Has Made Loan Decisions
at 10:20:39

I agree with DanLyles about Ritchie, he would be a great signing. As would Paul Caddis who we were linked with last year. He's fallen out with Paolo di Canio at Swindon and is on loan at Birmingham. He was doing really well there until he injured his shoulder. He's more than capable of playing at this level, and has an awesome understanding with Ritchie...

Swindon struggle to score, with a decent striker like DJ to supply, they would get loads of assists.

Town Interview Shearer
at 19:48:01

This would show that Evans is more concerned with profile than talent...

Wouldn't be surprised that Harry Redknapp was trying to get jobs for his MoTD mates by advising Evans that this would be a good move.

Butcher Dismisses Link

I think that his time in Scotland has improved him as a manager, and it would be harsh to judge him purely on his record in England.

I think that there are certainly much worse candidates out there!

Town Topic: Who Next for Town?
at 13:50:59

Di Canio
Tisdale
Tarricco
Robinson
Hope Powell

Certainly not Reid, Megson, Brown etc

Young, hungry, innovative and a breath of fresh air.

Curbishley isn't as bad as Megson, but still been out of the game for too long and in the same mould as Jewell. Marcus Evans needs to change the recruitment plan.

Murray Rejoins Swindon
at 16:19:54

Still think that having Murray on our bench rather than Ellington would be better.

Ellington is not the player that he was years ago for Jewell, and the sooner than this is realised the better. He's just a drain on our resources and going to get worse over his year of contract still to go.

Swindon Make Murray Offer
at 09:54:45

Swindon are odds on to get promoted to League One, we're looking strong candidates for the drop.

If Di Canio thinks Murray is good enough for League One, so should we.

Selling Murray would be a major mistake.

Swindon Make Murray Offer
at 09:10:53

Having seen Murray lay a few times for Swindon this year, I think that he is showing enough promise to have a regular place in our match day squad.

He has been playing well in a team that is flying, and he is keeping much more experienced strikers out of the Swindon team.

He would certainly offer much more to our team than Nathan Ellington ever has.

If we were to sell him, that would be another nail in Jewell's coffin. It would go against everything that he said about moving from away from a short-term plan.

Swindon Want to Keep Murray
at 14:42:16

I was at Swindon's match against Wigan at the weekend, and was impressed by Murray, he was busy and showed some good touches. Thought he was unlucky to be subbed off, but could understand Di Canio looking for some more size up front. Murray isn't the biggest...

I thought that Paul Caddid, the Swindon right-back was immense. Would love to see Jewell bring him to Portman Road. At 23, already Swindon's captain, an ex-Scotland under-21 captain, and a great attacking presence combined with some gutsy defending, he is just what we need. Him and Matt Richie ran the game against Premier League opposition.

It's just a real shame that Jewell is more likely to sign a past-it retired right-back like Gary Neville rather than find someone at the lower levels who are ready to take the step up.

Ramsey Inducted into Hall of Fame

I'm a bit surprised that Ramsey wasn't already there!
Good to see recognition for lots of the players from the 60's who really achieved some amazing feats.

Ramsey Inducted into Hall of Fame
at 22:19:54

I don't agree that football is an elastic good, if you are a fan. As an Ipswich fan, my decision to buy a ticket isn't based on a rational assessment of the game. Bias, hope, loyalty all play a big role.

With Paul Jewell in charge, and potentially Bullard and Dyer being here, my assessment for next season is going to be much more positive than if Useless Roy was still in charge.

If I was totally rational, I would choose to pay a fiver for a guaranteed 90 minutes entertainment at a cinema rather than spend £39 watching us play Norwich. Despite our relative league positions, I happily paid the cash because in my heart, I know we'll beat them 5-0 and I would hate to have missed it.

I live in Swindon, and would happily watch Swindon when I can't make it to town games. However, as I'm not a Swindon fan, it is a rational choice, and they have only persuaded me to pay £20 to watch them once this season. If it was a tenner, i'd have gone plenty of times.

Keane: Players May Have to Be Sold to Fund New Signings
at 09:23:32

I'm surprised that Keane isn't having conversations about January transfers.

Other clubs will have plans well under way.

The thought of Keane having more cash to spend is pretty underwhelming, to do it with no plan in place is terrifying!

Keane: Players May Have to Be Sold to Fund New Signings
at 18:37:23

I would love to see us go for an up-and-coming young manager such as Exeter's Paul Tisdale or Bournemouth's Eddie Howe, who have done well with their current clubs and are ready for a step up.

However, Marcus Evans has been very clear in his wish for us to see premiership football, and I think he will want a bigger name. The challenge is that I can't see us attracting a huge name like O'Neill or Jol (although Keane was a bigger name than most when appointed) and almost all of the big names we might attract have got blemishes where they have been sacked and gone doing the managerial roundabout...

I'm pretty sure that Butcher, Curbishley, Hughton etc, will all do better than Keane's current performance, and that the club needs to act decisively to stop the losses, falling gates and bad atmosphere around the club.

Murphy to Consider Future Over Summer
at 13:29:11

If we go for Murphy at the start of the summer, it shows a massive lack of ambition from Keane.

We need to find a striker who could develop with us and potentially play in the premier league. Murphy is not that person, which is why Sunderland don't use him. We should be looking at Charlie Austin at Swindon or one of Southampton's strikers first or maybe even casting the net wider and looking abroad.

By all means look at Murphy at the end of the transfer window, if we can't get better, but with his scoring record here and his ridiculous wages, he can't be our first-choice striking target. If he is, Keane is a muppet.
