League One Decision Set for Further Delay
Thank goodness those on the EFL board have no influence on bringing the country out of lockdown, or are working on the NHS frontline. I appreciate that this is a very tricky situation, but it is being handled very badly.
Town Close to Furloughing Staff
I believe this article is referring to the off field staff. I think it is a good gesture of Evans to pay the remaining 20% as these staff will not be earning high salaries.
Dobra on Target as U23s Draw at Cardiff
Please play Dobra in all the remaining games. If he doesn't play he may get frustrated and look for a move away. Although U23 is not a great standard, young players will never 'push on' if not given enough minutes in the first team.
Blues Look to Revive Faltering Season Against High-Flying Sky Blues
I have no idea what the team will be, but it doesn't seem to matter who plays. There is a distinct lack of characters who have the ability to instill confidence and dominate a game. It is very sad to admit, but it has become very predictable....... we must win, apathetic performance from most of the team, move the ball around but cannot make that decisive pass, cannot score from 10 chances, post match "we dominated but were so unlucky".....
I hope I am proved wrong, but......
Keane: Getting Run of Games Has Been Great For Me
I actually feel a bit sorry for Keane. To be this deluded sums up what is wrong at the club. Obviously it is good to see him fit and getting games, and he seems like a decent person. But, to have a 'striker' with such a poor goal ratio proves the lack of ambition and casual attitude that has taken over.
Blackpool 2-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report
I have just watched the highlights on Sky. It has become obvious that our strike force is generally incapable of hitting a barn door. I saw a couple of strikes from just outside the penalty area that were woeful. Do they not practice shooting in training? I do think that some of the players stroll around as if it is a practice/training match, which is just not good enough. For all his "the players gave it everything, they are really, really good" in post match public comments, I really hope that Lambert is kicking a few backsides behind closed doors. In other professions Lambert would have been sacked. Imagine a car salesperson telling their boss "the cars are great, really, really good" after selling one in 3 months. They would be asked to improve or leave. Lambert has been rewarded with a 5 year contract! The problem with the club starts at the top and works its way down.
Sears and Bishop Start at Blackpool
This looks like a decent team. Let's see what Bishop and Sears can do, but obviously we mustn't expect them to be game changers alone after long spells out. COYB!
Ipswich Town 0-1 Oxford United - Match Report
Very disappointing after scoring 4 last week. There is a fragility about the players which I can't understand. On paper we have the players to do well, but they just don't 'do it'. We seem to need 100 chances to score 1, which is hopeless. Why put Sears on so late in the game?? I think Mick Mills is right...... everything has become too casual. There is no fight or creativity and Lambert is far too slow to make mid game changes. Dear oh dear, what a massively disappointing season this has become.
Town Out to Replicate Burton Display Against Oxford
Hoping that our last result has boosted confidence and we see another good performance tomorrow. I agree that Bishop and Sears need at least 30 MINUTES, and Huws in for Nolan. COYB!
Lambert: Home Games Make or Break
I think we need to be more adventurous, rather than sticking with the current Skuse like plodders. I have nothing against Skuse or Chambers as they have been great advocates for the club, but they have also been part of a failing team. Is it now too late to throw more youngsters in though? The period of squad rotation did a lot of damage in confidence and coherence, and we are now in a position where the players don't seem to know how to play together. Sears will never get match fit if he doesn't play, so give him decent game time. Also, give Dobra a chance. I think it has all got too predictable and stale and needs freshening up, as other teams know how to win games against us. Come on Lambert, be brave.
AFC Wimbledon 0-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report
I do wonder if some of the players thought that we would walk this league after dropping down. If they did, how deluded they are. On paper we have some good players who are seriously underperforming. What we do not have however is a tough spine to the team. From the back to the front we appear lightweight compared to other teams. Knocking the ball around neatly at the back will not win matches in this league. We need to be much stronger and clinical, but I cannot see where it will come from at the moment. Sad times.
Wilson: Tough One to Take But Positives From Performance
The mood in the dressing room should have been 'ashamed' rather than 'frustrated'. I think the attitude is wrong from the owner, the manager and the players. Do they seriously sit in the dressing room feeling frustrated, as if it is someone else's fault? Of course teams are going to come out and go at us full throttle. Do the players expect teams to lie down, let us stroll up the pitch and tap the ball in to the net? These are supposed to be professionals, but come across as very naive.
Sunderland 1-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report
Every time I think 'this will be the game that we get back to winning ways' 5pm arrives and I feel hugely disappointed.
I have a question if anyone knows anything about League 2: is the standard much lower than League 1?
I keep wondering why Norwood, who scored so freely with Tranmere, now needs around 10 chances to score. I am sure that confidence is a big factor but why has he struggled with us, apart from the start of the season?
I really am loathe to say this...... we are just not good enough. League 1 demands tough players (physically and mentally) and we don't seem to have many of these. Chambers has his heart in the right place, but is not up to the mark and is not leading the team. In my opinion we need:
A captain who inspires and fires up the team
A battling midfielder who wins the ball and makes that killing pass
A striker who can score
A manager who can make game changing decisions
An owner who is realistic about funds in the transfer market. Recruiting many League 2 players did not work but what has changed??
The only real success this season has been the fans who continue to turn up and support the team. Well done to them! But to everything else..... sad, sad, sad.
Ipswich Town 4-1 Accrington Stanley - Match Report
Well done to all! I wish I had been there as it sounds like a really excellent performance from the team. I hope PL keeps a settled side now and we go on a little winning run.
Where is Bluearmy? If we had lost his/her post would have been the first one on here. Just saying.....
