 | News Comment | Ashton: Window Was Tough at 00:32:08
He talks about asset values but of those recruited. Obviously some big gains on the sales but the other purchases still there it would be interesting to see what are now their expected values. Also, the existing assets had value, from effectively no market value, but commentators imply eg. Wollfenden's was not maximized, I wonder why that was harder when he was on a new contract ? Salary + fee for the purchaser ? |
 | News Comment | Chaplin Set For Pompey Return at 17:58:45
Surprised by this. Still remember the goal vs Coventry with the Wes Burns wonder finish. Ultimately it was a real TEAM goal with Chaplin's first time pass allowing the end result to happen. Still seems to be the one that has that spark and it's hard to see the current team producing that. Hopefully the signings, especially the two latest, will step up and so will Philogene who I still think is yet to justify his fee (and we know he will be played). The other thing, as we saw last year, I'm not sure big staff turnover is a positive especially with the weight of expectation now. Time for all to justify their fees and wages. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: Woolfy's Made It Clear He Wants to Go at 23:19:44
Not a surprise, when people bought in will get to play every week because as they had fees paid they must be 'better". Disappointing to see a defender who wants to pass forward leave. Good luck to him if he goes somewhere else. |
 | News Comment | Preston North End 1-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 18:40:37
Interesting watching the last match, Davis came much more alive near the end when he was more back to his old role. Stifled now ? Also reading the match reports of Bromley it seemed Humphries and Barbrook came out better. Now the two aren't in the squad with the former just having had a good season's experience. Seems disappointing that they always get pushed down by players signed from outside. It looks to have become a feature (seen in so many businesses) that a new arrival (often on bigger bucks) is 'better". I'd just like to feel it's a meritocracy but it doesn't seem that way to me at the moment. But then I'm not a football manager, don't see training etc. I just hope they can get a couple of wins soon to instill the strength that we remember from a couple of years ago. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: Hutchinson Didn't Feel That He Could Contribute Today at 23:41:12
The way I read this is McK wants him to play (and feels he has spent a lot of effort nurturing him) but maybe others are more worried about devaluing an asset (as there is the risk of injury & witness the statement before about transfer revenues) ? |
 | News Comment | Birmingham City 1-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 11:20:52
I hope Humphries gets to play in the week and plays well. Interesting to see what happens then. Unfortunately, as he's gone grown and not brought in on a big salary, I think he's less likely to be played despite having just played a whole season to plaudits. I hope I'm wrong and also that he gets confidence grin last season. |
 | News Comment | Neom Linked With New Cajuste Approach at 20:19:19
People seem to forget Humphries has just has a full season, rather than a few sub appearances. Maybe he will help the perceived deficiencies ? Which is better, loads of new faces, as recent windows, or a more settled squad who are a bit more used to playing together ? Time will tell, let's hope they get off to a good start. |
 | News Comment | Hutchinson Exit Looking Closer as Brentford Agree Mbeumo Fee at 14:54:30
If he goes to Brentford and they do get relegated he's only in the same situation as at Ipswich (but obviously more expensive but with another Premier season). If he has a good season then others could want to buy him so he may not have to play again in the Championship. So not a bad move for him, assuming he does well which is what people are expecting in the Championship anyway if he stays. If Brentford stay up and he does well, that's another season in the shop window. |
 | News Comment | Burgess Joins Swansea at 15:51:23
Shame. He seemed more consistent than most, when he was given the chance last season, and a player that wanted to play forward. Didn't understand why he completely dropped from the squad at times. I presume he was given the impression he would play regularly which experience showed wasn't the case staying put. Good luck to him. |
 | News Comment | Valencia Linked With Burgess at 16:22:51
One of the few who, more often than not, wanted to play a pass forward and was dependable. It'll be a shame if he goes but not a surprise. Valencia is a lovely city ! |

 | News Comment | Newcastle United 3-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 17:22:02
I don't understand how Murphy's wasn't simulation if Johnson's was. Refs need to crack down on players throwing themselves to the ground, Murphy did it a few times. Others will disagree, but I don't think that should be part of football - trying to get opponents booked, trying to get fouls when they weren't - sadly this seems to be one of the accepted parts of the game now. In theory VAR should stop this as they could be penalised, clearly not ... I was told cheats never prosper, football proves that's tosh ! |
 | News Comment | Ipswich Town 2-4 Nottingham Forest - Match Report at 18:00:14
I don't undersdtand the big desire to get Philogene but now it seems he has to play him, sadly. As someone else said, how about Hirst & Delap but then who would be the subs to replace them if they came off ? (because that seems likely to happen) How come Forest manage to break and score but ... |
 | News Comment | Edmundson Completes Boro Move at 12:05:01
Sad to see him go, an important part of the last two seasons. Wish him every success, apart from against Ipswich in the Premier League next year !! (Here's hoping) |
 | News Comment | Godfrey Medical Completed at 12:50:59
I've never understood the desire for wholesale changes. Especially with the KMcK reputation of improving players. There were a lot of changes on the summer and the best needs to be found from the Team, who have been doing well but suffered from the fine margins in a competitive league. |
 | News Comment | Ipswich Town 1-1 Leicester City - Match Report at 21:17:39
Spot on Eeyore, I couldn't believe it when I saw MoTD that the same Leicester player gave away the free kick that led to the penalty call by bundling over the two players with no attempt to play the ball. Not even talked to by the ref it seemed. And when are refs ging to start booking for simulation ? Too many roll around trying to get free kicks/bookings/sendings off. There will of course unfortunately be some real injuries but with no deterrent how do you stop what is ultimately cheating ? |
