I think everyone is entitled to a meltdown after that performance.
at 23:11 14 Feb 2023

Bar the first 5 minutes, there was very little urgency to win that game. We're so painfully slow at getting forward that the 3 or 4 times we could have countered, the opportunity was gone before it began.

Its so easy to set up against us that every game has the same feel to it. If we don't score early, then the tempo fades away, teams get deeper, spaces narrow and we run out of ideas. We don't have any injection to turn a game in our favour other than pass, pass, pass.

Clarke ending up as a left back, wing back, shows we're desperately trying to shoehorn players in. Having said that, he actually caused a few problems and the hapless Davis did need replacing as my god, that boy does not know how to defend. Awful night for him.

If you can't have a meltdown tonight, when even finishing 6th now looks a challenge, then I don't know when you can. Football hey.

Suppose it's only fair the younger generation learn about play off heartache
at 18:40 4 Feb 2023

Fair play to anyone that still thinks we'll finish top two, I admire positive attitude, but really struggling with that line of thinking myself.

Our complete inability to score important late goals in games sets is aside from everyone else in the top 6 and is a major reason for me why it won't be our year.

Ladapo looks much fitter and stronger
at 23:22 24 Jan 2023

Than at the start of the season. Really starting to bully centre halves and push then off and hold his ground well. His touch/lay offs looks much better too and great to get another poachers goal tonight and a good finish for the second. Tough task for Hirst to get in front of him at present.

Promoted teams find a way - We don't. Lack of leaders
at 18:32 21 Jan 2023

Is costing us big time. We don't have the mentality to grind results out. Have we even scored a last minute winner this season or a really significant late goal? Can't think of one.

We don't have another way to win. It's either play well and win, but if we don't play well, we simply don't win games. (maybe Burton away only example all season to go against that view?)

With Derby, Barnsley and Bolton away to come, reality has suddenly hit home and its done for me as can't see us winning them nor the others dropping enough points for us to catch up.

Really down after that defeat. Its a season defining one, just like at Oxford last season.

It could just be Plymouth's year - draw a fair result
at 22:36 14 Jan 2023

But obviously we should have held on but it wasn't exactly a shock when they scored. We've conceded many late goals now and do appear, for whatever reason, to be unable to kill games, close the door and just manage close games.

The equaliser is their second fortunate deflection against us this season and given we out score them in virtually all stats (bar points!), maybe it is just their year to go up. They have an annoying ability to score from low percentage situations and we clearly are not set up to hang onto wins. So I kind of think, fair play, they deserve to be ahead of us. Same applies to Wednesday who have somehow had less possession against Wycombe which is a classic example of grinding out a win, something we just don't do.

Just got to try and nurse this squad through to January
at 01:06 3 Dec 2022

We looked tired tonight. The intensity we play at and the injuries look to have caught up with us so it's about just trying to get maybe 2 wins from the next 4 and ideally not lose the other two. Would be chuffed if we returned that.

January can't come quick enough as squad needs freshening up. Bit more know how I'd say is needed from the signings we'll get in as even though we weren't great tonight, you have to see the game out. Should have been more attempts to kill the game, I. E. Faking injury etc as promoted teams know how to win when playing poorly and don't think we're quite there yet on that front.

Find that 20 goal + striker in the summer and you'd fancy us...
at 18:21 26 Feb 2022

Next season based on what we're seeing so far. Obvious and easier said than done and we thought we had him in Piggot and then Bonne but I'd say a good chance all 4 go in the summer now. Great to see/hear us playing some decent stuff again though. It's been a long while and gives hope for next season if we can't perform the near miracle that is now needed to go up this season.

It's not even an FA Cup shock. That's the worst bit.
at 21:37 15 Dec 2021

One team in it from the first minute. Another new low for us, but we seem to hit one or two of them every season. This squad should be embarrassed of themselves.

As a club we've a serious culture problem that whatever we do, we just cannot shift. All this bollcoks about running towards adversity really is laughable based on what we're seeing.

We're going to finish about 10th aren''t we?
at 23:27 28 Nov 2021

We look like a team of decent individuals on paper who rely on individual bits of quality, like today, to win games. It's horrible to compare to Lambert, but I can't help thinking we struggle through some of these games in spite of Cook as opposed to him influencing any wins, much like under Lambert. The lack of ability (or refusal) to change formations is difficult to understand.

The players looked almost embarassed when the final whistle went today, they know its not working.

Every fan desperately wants us to succeed, but there seems to be little evidence on the pitch that this season will amount to anything over than a dismal failure. (and yes, I watched us score 4 past Wycombe where they battered us for 20 mins and 4 past the worst Pompey side ive ever seen).

Roll on Charlton and Wigan!

Thought Burgess really helped things tonight.
at 23:35 2 Nov 2021

Just the kind of game he's suited to. Done it at left back a couple of times now when Coulson has gone off injured so another great option to have, especially in away games against the more physical teams when balls are flying into the box. Good options in this squad.

Very pleasing to see a "professional" display tonight as we've not had
at 23:14 19 Oct 2021

Under Cook to date. Pretty solid first half in a very scrappy game. Took our chances really well second half. Great team performance, with a few players really showing what they do. Edmundson looked very assured, Donacian looks improved on the ball, Evans strong and picked up lots of loose balls and Aluko for me really calmed thigns down with great touches/control.

Good to see us show up in a second half as we've not been great in them too.

Think Celina will end up wide left if Chaplin keeps his current level up in 10 spot. Edwards has all the ability, but could do with an assist/goal to really get his career going here.

Great night, now to continue on Saturday.

Is 15 league games fair to decide if this is going to work?
at 22:56 2 Oct 2021

Seems like a suitable amount of games to me. Probably need to pick up 9 or 10 points from the next 5 and if so, there's possibly a good argument the little recent 3 game unbeaten run was a sign we're turning it around.

Anything less and it's looking like that run and especially the Doncaster game were more out of line with how the team are really developing.

We all desperately want Cook to concede, but likewise we can't afford to accept such poor performances at Accrington Stanley. We knew exactly what we'd face today and simply haven't had enough about us to deal with it.

The players have changed, the same problem hasn't - yet...
at 22:31 17 Aug 2021

We are still no threat going forward. Yes, shocking goals to concede tonight, but generally we dealt with the long throw and Burgess did help.

The problem remains that we do not create anywhere near enough chances. That was Lambert's main problem and Cook thus far hasn't managed to change things with either the team he inherited or with the new guys he's purchased. There's a few positive signs and on paper, our individuals look good, so hopefully things will click, but if you don't create a sufficient number of chances, your always liable to lose.

Second half was awful and we all probably knew once we went 2-1 down, that was it. We had that confirmed when Jackson and Barry came on as wasn't the kind of game for them and not sure either of them touched the ball.

As League Cup defeats go, that was a great one. Pity there's negativity on here.
at 00:29 11 Aug 2021

All the youngsters played well. Humphreys vision and delivery looks promising in particular and Barry looks like hecould be useful for us this season. More minutes for Fraser. Bonne unlucky not to score. Dobra so dangerous and great feet, just got to get that end product out of him. Pity about Norwood, just can't get/keep him fit. Not quite sure what we're doing with Jackson as he's clearly hopeless at this stage but let's gloss over that. On another night though, we win that by 3 or 4 with the amount of chances we missed.

Great atmosphere, best at a league cup game for a long while and kept with the team until the end, even after the 10 remaining players ran out of steam.

Style of play was entertaining.

Really not a time to panic and start questioning all and everything after such a performance. Give the revolution a bit of time.

Cook should make the first team watch this under 18 Cup game
at 19:31 30 Apr 2021

Best Town game I've seen all season. Lots of decent football, good movement, great deliveries into the box and most importantly a group of lads that look like they want to get a result and don't shrink into their shells when one or two things go against them.

Dobra- Lambert was spot on when annoyed that he didn't want to go out on loan
at 20:01 5 Apr 2021

Lambert didn't get much right, but Dobra for me clearly isn't ready for League 1 football. Tidy player at present, yes, but he gets pushed off the ball far too easily and just isn't strong enough to be anything near a regular in the side. He's arguably no worse than some others, but just gets bullied out of it and could do with a run somewhere else. At present, I may be in the minority, but I've not seen much to suggest he's going to be anything other than another one of our so called "great youngsters" that doesn't amount to much.

Season ticket renewals next week should be interesting
at 17:30 5 Apr 2021

How on earth are the club going to sell next season to us based upon the last 2 years of appaling league 1 football. There's nearly 9000 of us that will expect cash or a discount off next season of at least £100, so will be another huge PR own goal if that doesn't happen, which could be the tipping point for some people.

Massive summer for Town. The takeover is the only hope I think we have as nothing is changing whilst Evans remains owner as Cook will eventually fail like the others before him. I think he'd actually walk if he's messed about, but that's neither here nor there.
