I agree that it makes more sense to call it the European Super league. However, that may get a little confusing as there is already a European Super Cup, that if I’m not mistaken is a one off match of the winners of the Champions league and Europa League! So my suggestion would be to rebrand the Champions League and call it something like the European Premier League? Which in my mind it already is in all but name. |
 | Forum Thread | Is still calling it the “Champions League” become a joke? at 09:45 9 May 2025
Each season there are multiple teams from all the top leagues that qualify for the Uefa Champions League. Whilst the competition’s format seems to regularly expand with the aim of including even more teams and games. No doubt with the purpose of increased revenue for the clubs and Uefa alike. However, next season incredibly there will be SIX teams that will enter the competition from the English Premier League, including whichever of Man United and Spurs that win the Europa League (currently 15th and 16th respectively in the EPL). So realistically, we all know the UCL is moving closer to a Uefa Super League in all but name. So why continue with this charade of still calling it the “Champions League” and just be done with it, rebrand, and call it something that actually resembles what it has now evolved to become? |

Maybe not a record broken per se but another long standing undesirable stat that we have now got off our backs. Thanks for the correction, I will edit title. |

The ref was also very good to allow the advantage to us following the foul by Milenkovic (for which he was booked retrospectively btw). That decision led directly to our second goal. Other refs would have just blown immediately for the free kick which would have likely resulted in Everton reorganising and thus providing a less clear opportunity for us to score. |

Wow! Remarkably, it was the first time Ipswich have come from two goals down to earn a Premier League result since October 2001, when they drew 3-3 with Southampton. [Post edited 4 May 10:26]

Dermot Gallagher oh yes of course. Isn’t this the same clown who insisted that the assault on Chappers against Leicester only a “coming together” and definitely didn’t warrant a penalty. Not sure I would rely too much on his unbiased professional expertise’ as an ex ref tbh, but maybe that’s just me. |

But isn‘t that a big part of the problem though? Namely ‘employed VAR officials’ one week are also on field referees the next. It is one big group so they all know each other, which almost certainly impacts on the dynamics of the refereeing and VAR decision making process? |
 | Forum Reply | Introduction of VAR has lowered the quality of refereeing. at 17:56 26 Apr 2025
I don’t think the introduction of VAR is the problem as they have made many correct calls. However, what I strongly disagree with is when VAR re-referees and intervene when it is clearly not a ‘clear and obvious error and therefore mostly subjective decsion. The other problem that I see in the EPL is when the on field referee is sent to the screen it is almost certain they will go invariably with the VAR and it does appear that they feel pressurised to go with the VAR recommendation. whilst in overseas games that does not seem to be the case anywhere like as often and seem more comfortable with sticking with their original devision when the video footage is not conclusive to the contrary. |

Yes I agree we haven’t helped ourselves at times ad we don’t have the same level of quality as most other teams but what does that have to do with blatant bias officiating decisions against us that makes it doubly harder? |
 | Forum Reply | I am absolutely fuming at 16:14 26 Apr 2025
100% agree. I am. Likewise usually calm but this just takes the biscuit. I am absolutely sick to the teeth almost every week of being on the wrong end of marginal decisions. Don’t get me wrong, I acknowledge we haven’t been quite good enough to stay up this season but come on at least let us compete on an equal playing field from an officiating perspective. I don’t know how the players don’t lose it at times because it is so blatant it’s not even funny. |

The bias from the officials towards the bigger teams is absolutely obscene in this league The yellow card for diving is incredibly harsh and the VAR intervention is laughable. I am so proud of these players fighting like lions against the odds with all the injuries and smaller budget, but smaller teams don’t stand a f****ing chance. Is it corruption? Well if it isn’t then not sure what to call it. |

Been following football for decades and seems strange that these medical emergencies are happening increasingly more than I ever recall previously. Thoughts and prayers are with those affected. |
 | Forum Thread | Wow! I wonder who are the two players that have had strokes since McK joined us at 08:15 7 Mar 2025
I know we have had more than our fair share of injuries this season but being diagnosed with a stroke is something else. McKenna in the presser “I think there are a lot of different factors. Always in football, you have a run of injuries and luck plays a part in it we've had maybe one stroke two in the last three and a half years.?.” |
