Walton, Nsiala, Evans and Edwards Start For Town at Pompey
at 19:32:01

How about this......... 5 points off bottom three but 14 points off top three (on the basis that one of Wigan or Sunderland would win their game in hand).

I am a glass half full sort of chap so let's look forward (but the above confirms how bad it's been so far)

Barnsley Linked With Downes
at 17:27:52

How about this for a thought?

Any player with a set of b*llocks (and heart) being told by the manger that he wasn't sure if they were good enough for club WOULD TAKE IT AS A CHALLENGE and want to prove the manager wrong and make themselves bloody indispensable and first name on the team sheet. I know I would respond that way........

This is not aimed just at Downes but relevant to all that were told along those lines.

How many of us have been told by a work boss / girl (lad) you were asking out / manager that it's a ‘no'BUT then rallied around and got that promotion / pay rise / date and ended up a winner proving your worth / proving someone wrong.

Of course players that are getting interest from Championship clubs or Prem clubs are not going to worry about PC / ITFC but other players (Edwards to Wigan?) who don't want to fight for their place, and play in front of 20,000 crowds at PR, quite frankly are not worth worrying about and let's move on.

Dyer: I’ve Probably Learnt More in This Last Seven Weeks Than in My Whole Coaching Career
at 20:14:10

Reading that has thrown me and wound me up..... I had no idea the wonderful Edwina was let go when those bloody players managed to get us relegated. We can't blame 100% PH and PL for the relegation because the last two seasons in L1 proves the problem was on the pitch.

If the players went down fighting, scrapping and sweating blood and tears to keep us up and (lesser paid) training and stadium staff in a job then it would have been forgivable - but they didn't, did they?

Never underestimate the worth and importance of the likes of Edwina and Pat Cobbold behind the scenes. I've seen with my own eyes how the likes of Milts, Burley, Magilton, Miller, Kieron himself and umpteen new player arrivals have relied on and been happily assisted by Edwina and Pat.

There are many other long standing well respected staff behind the scenes at ITFC but Edwina and Pat are the type of people that made ITFC the club it was for many, many years.

I only hope (but can imagine) the first team squad getting us relegated and seeing some staff lose their jobs, as KD mentioned, must have hit the players hard (emotionally as well deservedly in the pocket) and maybe that guilt has been hard for them to carry when the going has got tough the last two years - because when the going got rough we certainly didn't get tough OR get going!

Former Striker Rhodes Linked
at 19:44:54

Selemio mention pace..... I watched a game years back with a scout from Blackburn. Told him I was a Town fan so had an obvious interest in Jordan Rhodes, who was with Blackburn at the time, and how his career was developing. Scout said he was good finisher, good one on one and a good lad but would never get picked up by a Prem side because he just didn't have the pace required to play at the very top.

We are not at the very top........

Cook: I Will Be Like Demolition Man Over the Next Six Weeks
at 10:06:54

Those players, in the most, have been given ten games to show PC what they are capable of (mentally, physically and with the ball) and he has sussed out exactly how much use they are likely to be to him going forward..... for 90% of them not very much use at all

Cook: To Play For This Club, You Have to Carry a Little Bit More Weight on Your Shoulders
at 18:16:08

Problem is that a player who ‘looks good in training' doesn't have to be that great to look good against our first team squad. 11 v 11 training match are chances are 50% of the players you are playing against are not close to our first team....... reckon I would ‘look good' in training in odd flashes. Problem is when players then play league football against real opponents they find they are not as good as they think they are. THERE IS NO WAY MARCUS CAN BE BLAMED FOR THAT.

One win in four not great at all.... four points in four.... three points tonight would have made a big difference the way other results have gone. BUT get behind the lads and new manager because still plenty of points to play for chaps.

Texastom - With that sort of negativity then I would imagine the new manager and players are bloody glad you are not buying a season ticket!

Town Takeover Stalls
at 20:30:50

bobble - it's not a case of if they think they can earn a profit why can't I? As with any business it's down to how much time and investment do I want to make.

If promotion to the Premier League is worth £175million and I want £75 million ‘profit' then my purchase and investment need to come to £100 million at the most BUT I'm only prepared to invest X hours a week in the deal and for three years maximum otherwise it doesn't appeal to me.

Let's pretend £50 million to buy in and £16 million investment per year for three years (we are running at a £6 million loss so that's only £10 million a year really - then you have to find a way of spending it with fair play rules etc)

Of course that £175 million bringing in £75 million profit is nonsensical because you don't sell up the day you get promoted and then get the PL monies for the next three years you don't own the club....... but the club has a revised sell on price so you hope someone is prepared to pay the £175 million to get a ‘free club' but pay the bills for three years and hope we stay up for one season to bring X million in. However the people looking to buy us in that position would IMHO NOT be a good custodian of ITFC.

No need for me to phone Marcus tonight to get the full story as there are so many people on here with ‘inside knowledge' of what happened / didn't happen for the deal to stall / be off (delete to suit as TWTD state both) that I'm sure there's nothing Marcus could add.

Marcus said there's no acceptable deal for him and the club on the table. He's kept us afloat for thirteen years which is better than doing a Bolton so I trust him to make the correct call IF and when he moves on. Oh, just a reminder that for the last 12 months he's kept paying the bills with zero match day income xxx

Ipswich Town 1-0 Plymouth Argyle - Match Report

Staying in the play of spots next few weeks and then entering the play offs with MOMENTUM......

Where is Huws? He should be bossing games at this level. What we would give for someone to grab a game by the scruff of the neck the way Magilton could. What's actually stopping one of our own doing that? Or is the English game so disciplined and regimented nowadays that no one has the freedom or dare to do that?
