I genuinely thought/think that Matt Holland was solid at best and often went missing for large periods of a match. |

19th in Div 1, top scorer Vijoen (10) Nodge were in their customary role of being mid table mediocrity in Div 2, no doubt still celebrated to this day. |

This could in theory get v nasty, but I don’t imagine Iran has the capability to hit back hard. Sad to see such a great Nation being hammered but when you advocate for the destruction of a neighbour, there is going to be repercussions. Especially when the source of your fury is a US backed nuclear power, I suspect Israel sees this time as a once in a generation opportunity to change nge the political landscape. |
 | Forum Reply | He is not going to Brentford at 20:12 13 Jun 2025
Talented though he is, I expect Brentford have better options than K Mck. Why would a relatively well established PL Club with a very wealthy owner pick a man that has just been relegated. |

Always Ipswich first for me. My interest in international football has steadily declined over the years, for many reasons, with some of the reasons below : Player’s squabbling over appearance fees etc Tournaments going to the highest bidder Qualification and finals being more about maximising revenue than sporting excellence Non English players and Managers |
 | Forum Reply | Paul Lambert revisited ! (Not a Bob Dylan song) at 14:10 15 May 2025
On reflection, I probably wasn’t harsh enough in what I posted on the day of his departure: I hope it’s largely Lamberts fault and a new manager would see us promoted but I fear the problem is mostly a lack of ability. Most of us would pick a first 11 from the following: Holy : no more than a competent league one keeper. Chambers : even at his best, only a makeshift right back, no longer up to it. KVY : probably a championship defender but who knows. Ward : let go by a mid table championship club, legs gone. Wolf: probably a championship defender in the making, not there yet. McGuinness : ditto Wolf. Bishop : never fit or selected often enough to form an objective view. Dozzell : might progress to steady championship midfielder, not there yet. Downes : top flight potential, but long way to go and doesn’t exactly stand out at L 1 level for now. Judge : championship at his peak, way past that now. Nolan : L1, at best. Edwards : if used correctly, top end L1 at his best. Jackson : just about proven at L1 level, doesn’t look up to championship standard. Norwood : never played higher up and not likely to now. Hawkins : released by L1 rival. Thomas : on loan from struggling championships club probably no more than a good L1player. Harrop : ditto Thomas. Based on the above, are we even underperforming or are we actually just not very good? I think a more capable manager could push the group to 6th but not much more. The problems run far deeper than who the manager is. A new manager will reignite interest and help bolster season ticket sales but I’m not confident we’ll get it right and be much better on the pitch. |

Thanks for posting this, I’ve looked for it on YouTube etc over the years and never found the footage. Strange how your memory isn’t always reliable:I had in my head that Mickys equaliser was on a par with Ricky Villa’s FA Cup Winner for Spurs. On reflection, I think I over egged that a little. |

I am an Alan too. Interestingly, before we met, my wife had a goldfish called Alan. I have other equally riveting anecdotes that I can share another time. |

Listened to it on the radio and went loco when Marshall equalised. Still think the comeback win against Sheff United shades it though, can vividly recall Bents winning header and the chaos that ensued in the North. TWTD. |
 | Forum Reply | delap: why would city not be interested? at 13:13 10 Apr 2025
I can understand the disappointment around Delap potentially leaving for only 30m but if we had to ship out others, I feel we have plenty of sellable assets - for instance, Davis (massive profit), O’Shea (money back?), Greaves (15m?), Philogene (£15m?), Ogbene (£10m?) SS (£5m?) I don’t think our transfer business was inspired but equally, I don’t think we squandered £120m. |

Not threads per se, but I’ve always been interested to know the backstory for multiple mentions of potential signings being seen in Copdock and references to Dean Gherkins alleged bad behaviour at at an end of season event. |
 | Forum Reply | RFK Jr is turning out as expected then at 16:14 24 Mar 2025
Cummings is adamant going for herd immunity was a Gov strategy, not something he personally advocated. Pre lockdown comments from Vallance implied there was scientific support for that approach too, until the number of predicted deaths resulted in abrupt denials that this was ever on the table. As for RFK, and the US in general, it is quite astonishing what is going on there. If they weren’t so blessed with resources, goodness knows what sort of mess they would be in. |

When Trump was first elected, I naively thought the US system had fail safe checks and balances that would reign him in. They seemed ineffective then and almost non existent now. Having originally figured Trump would never be president again and that ‘normal’ would return, I admit that I’m now getting quite anxious. Goodness knows what the World will be like in 4 years time. |

Hope the hangover isn’t too bad chap, I recently had one on a Sunday that spilled over into Monday, which was vile. I had foolishly hit the brandy after many pints. Poor decision. |

I’d forgotten all about yo-yo and Trio’s : both classics, with the latter also having a catchy advert. Shout out to United biscuits too. |

I nearly always agree with your views but on this serious matter of best club biscuit flavours, I think you need to reconsider. Both orange and mint were way superior to raisin. |
 | Forum Reply | Man city points deduction rumours at 17:59 26 Feb 2025
Even if there is a heavy points deduction I imagine it will get reduced on appeal and applied to the start of the 25-26 season, thus giving them every chance to survive. |
