 | News Comment | Town Women and U21s to Play at Colchester at 15:27:42
To all those stating that Portman Road isn't a sensible option can presumably explain how Norwich manage to use Carrow Road for their women's team then. And they are two divisions lower. |
 | News Comment | Former Blues Youngster Knight Joins Cambridge United at 09:30:43
superblue9: It happens quite often at youth level. Some players mature later than others and some never quite push on from a strong start. In the youth team at West Ham with Joe Cole (and Lampard and Ferdinand) the best player by far was Adam Newton. Who? Exactly. The Ipswich youth team that last won the cup beat a Southampton team with two or three future Premier players in it. The only player from our team that had any kind of career was Owen Garvan, and his wasn't all that was hoped. It happens. |
 | News Comment | Five Ex-Blues at Wembley For National League Play-Off Final at 09:52:59
PhuketPete: the original play-offs used to also include the 3rd bottom club from the division above playing against the possible promotion teams (Germany still do this). I generally think this is a bad idea as it just increases the chance of team staying up. If, however, you are suggesting the bottom 6 could all get sucked into a relegation play-off that might be fun. But considering the huge financial impacts it could be seen to be rather unfair. Fun for the neutral though. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: Delap's Spent the Week Looking at His Options and Having Conversations at 15:35:03
blues1: that is a valid point. Though are clubs really that bothered about playing a completely new player in that tournament? Maybe I guess. Not the club's problem though. If his meeting with the clubs hasn't affected his time training etc then I don't have much issue with it, but it didn't sound that way from McKenna's comments. As for the booing. I'm with you there. I really hope we don't. But then some on here hate Downes for not wanting to stay at a league 1 club on a downward spiral so who knows? |
 | News Comment | McKenna: Delap's Spent the Week Looking at His Options and Having Conversations at 15:31:39
cookra: of course he has to consider his future. Don't we all? However, if I asked my employer if I could spend a week off - without using any annual leave allowance - to sort out my CV and go to a bunch of interviews with prospective employers I'd expect them to say "no" quite frankly. Why couldn't he wait a week to consider his future? Have I missed something? Does he need to sort something now or he misses a crucial deadline? Not sure I've ever heard of a player missing a week of training to go and talk to other clubs before. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: Delap's Spent the Week Looking at His Options and Having Conversations at 15:10:10
ArnieM: why would he want to play in the Championship when he's being talked about as the next Harry Kane? Sure, he might end up sitting on the bench somewhere but he's a guy that scored 12 goals in a team who scored very few so the idea of him wanting to go down to the Championship is purely wishful thinking on our part surely. jp6blue: yes, I thought it odd too. Surely he could have focused on his current employer for another week. Surprised Town were OK with it to be honest. |
 | News Comment | Town Buy Former Owner Evans's Remaining Shares at 12:19:43
philpott2: I don't disagree about Keane per se as I think he was one of, if not the, worst managers ever for the club, but his autobiography made it clear that he identified the players and then Clegg - the CEO with no football experience hired by Evans - bought them. Keane made it clear that he felt we were paying way more than the players were worth. Another sign of how Evans failed to run the club properly from the very start. |
 | News Comment | Town Spend Least in Premier League On Agents at 16:37:56
A comically large amount of money. But Chelsea and Man City seem to have paid about 3 times more than anyone else. We know that Chelsea just love signing players but I thought City had a fairly stable squad (one of the reasons people cite for their substandard season) so how have they spent so much? |
 | News Comment | McKenna: Cajuste and Phillips Not Yet Ruled Out of Manchester United Trip at 16:01:19
I think it's a good point re:category one youth status. At the moment, any truly promising players can just be stolen from us for a fraction of their possible worth - as has happened several times. So there's little point throwing too much into it if it won't pay for itself. But it is a sad state of affairs. We didn't even bring anyone through in League 1 - other than Humphries, who only played a tiny part. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: A Painful Game For Us, City Were Too Strong in All Aspects at 00:04:55
Blueboy1981:what a load of rubbish. Two years ago we were in league one and the two teams currently below us were established Premier league clubs. Recent performances that you mention include a win against Chelsea and a draw at Fulham that was close to a win. Even Chris Sutton has admitted how impressed he's been with us this season, how we've competed in the majority of games. You have such an unrealistic view of us it's laughable. |
 | News Comment | Ex-Blue Bloomfield New Luton Boss at 15:03:47
carlo88: I think the comments in the article about the behind the scenese turmoil is probably a clue as to why he left, especially if you read his statement with that in mind. Thinly veiled. |
 | News Comment | Ashton: In My Mind I Couldn't Picture Kieran Anywhere Else at 13:51:15
Wow, that first comment is quite special in how apalling it is! If other companies came to you and offered you a job are you saying you'd just say no and stay with your current employer without talking to them or seeing what they had to offer? I very much doubt it. To call it disloyal is pathetic. Firstly, he has no ties to us as a club or town, he owes us nothing considering he's already repaid our gamble on him by getting us from league 1 into the premier league and, finally, he chose to stay here. The fact he talked to them and still decided to stay with us is surely an even better sign than if he hadn't talked to them. |
 | News Comment | Philogene 'Set to Rejoin Villa' at 16:01:59
That sell on/buy back clause seemed borderline illegal the way Villa could use it to up the selling price if they wanted and then get a share of the sale. Shame if this doesn;'t happen, but got to say that's terrible business for Villa as they essentially sent someone out on loan to get experience but paid £8m to do so (£18m - £5m they sold him for plus £5 sell on fee they don't have to pay) |
