Going for Gold and Getting Better are anthems aren't they? Chasing Rainbows?

Anyway, A Matter of Time is a surprisingly good album, possibly my favourite by them, which isn't bad more than 30 years after their first.

On very cold days you can hear mine for sure but I wouldn't call it loud. In the house things are much quieter than with the boiler and the heat pump making a noise that can only be heard outside during winter didn't seem like a huge problem to me.

But that's in a town, can see how that may change in the countryside.

I think heat pumps are usually around 15 years expected life span. Most are guaranteed for 10 years, though so are combis.

Mine is capable of 65 degrees, but it isn't efficient at that temperature, I don't think any of them are, so it runs at 45.

I waited ages for octopus to come round (having put down a £500 returnable deposit). They then said they couldn't install one in my house and left.

Used Aira in the end who were very quick and excellent service.

Most ASHPs installed here will be air to water, but eit worth noting that if you are doing from scratch an air to air system is worth considering, because, as stated, it can also be an air conditioner which is getting more useful in the UK each year

I have an ASHP with solar and battery. I was very lucky to get mine for £4k including all rads. Recent quotes for friends have been way higher.

So far it's worked very well. In winter I do have to charge the battery three times a day on octopus cosy tariff, but I heated the house for less than I was paying for gas which was unexpected.

The solar and battery is saving me around £1k a year at the moment and cost £8k.

Personally, I'm very happy with the setup.

The rads aren't too huge either, but it's definitely worth finding out what they intend to install as one quote I had had them fitting rads basically the entire length of the wall in most rooms.

You do know that this government haven't made any law changes in this area don't you?

Sentencing is done by judges following the guidelines laid down by the (previous) government.

Assuming you weren't joking of course - which I hope you were.

Interesting Leif Davis stat in BBC Ait-Nouri story:
at 12:00 3 Jun 2025

Glad to read some sense being spoken about how good he is and indeed has been this season.

Wasn't that good defensively I hear people cry. Well two things 1) Cajuste and Greaves didn't cover as well as Burgess and Luongo used to and 2) his job in the team is primarily not about defending, hence his brilliant attacking stats.

And he's still a decent defender believe it or not.

Morsy could leave for free this summer…

Am I the only one that doesn't think Cajuste fits the pivot system?

He's a lovely player, but his defending isn't that good, he doesn't cover when Davis goes up as Luongo did (which led to people blaming Davis all the time) and he didn't actually get any assists. Much like Taylor, I think he'd fit a traditional central role better.

I'd rather we found a player that fitted the system we play personally.

If The FA, UEFA, FIFA, really wanted fair competition...

You can't scrap Bosmans. They are part of contract law that it was found football was breaching some years back.

A footballer is just an employee and no other company can demand compensation or stop someone leaving who isn't contracted to them in any way.

There may well be unpleasant side effects of it, but it's the law.

Keeper Stats
at 14:09 28 May 2025

Considering the PPG stats I would suggest we may have been slightly better off keeping Muric in. Especially the stat about set pieces.

But who knows? The more mistakes he made the more everyone panicked - fans, management and the players in front of him.

It's worse than that. It's two measures of inflation and then a fallback figure that might be above both. Why on earth does it need to be higher than inflation! It's not a performance related payrise.

Woolfy off?
at 11:12 28 May 2025

Your last point is the key.

We were more than the sum of our parts as a well drilled team. We never looked anything like that this year.

Others have said they think last year's team would beat this year's and I agree completely. We've looked disjointed from the start. Hopefully they will begin to look like a team again next season.

Sure, but what if Woolfy gets injured or suspended? You still need a decent back-up player to come in.

This is why it's so hard to build a squad ready for the Premier league. Woolfy is a decent Championship defender who can do a job in the Prem, and arguably isn't much worse than O'Shea. But he isn't Prem starter quality and, if you can't keep decent but not brilliant players in your squad then you are going to struggle in the Prem where this season showed how important a deep squad is.

Pitch invasions for a semi-final win?
at 09:59 16 May 2025

We didn't win with a last minute goal though. That just took it to extra time.

Anyway, that night was mental - still the best/most ridiculous/nerve wracking game I've seen - and the pitch invasion completely justified.

If Charlton want to invade too good on 'em.
