| News Comment | Boro Make £4.5m Murphy Bid - Report at 09:49:49
If we were offered £4.5 million this time last year for Murph, I suspect that we would have bitten their hands off. Sometimes a deal is just too good to turn down, however much we want him to stay! I have no doubt that Mick has a cunning plan if it happens!! |
| News Comment | Mclean Second Signing at 13:45:53
Bloody Hell !!! Just thought I'd check in as I do every lunchtime to see who we were being linked with, with no expectation of any signings for weeks and BOOM, two more in, another with potential on trial. What's going on? Someone really should explain to Mick that no-one wants to come to Ipswich and that they will only tell us that they don't want to come after we have wasted an entire transfer window chasing them. Who else is starting to enjoy life as a Town fan again? Even better when the budgies gain "nil points" over the festive season!! He who laughs last ..... |
| News Comment | McCarthy Appointment Reportedly Close at 23:30:12
If you'd asked me a month ago whether I wanted MM as next manager, I would have been adamant that he wasn't right for my beloved ITFC. However, as the poor results continued and the full horror of the state of the dressing room and club have come to light, I feel that he is the only sensible choice. The fact that he may bring Matt Holland back to the club has to be great news. I just wish that I could convince myself that the football will be enjoyable to watch (not that it's been much fun lately!) |
| News Comment | Curbs Would Talk to Town at 13:39:42
ip5w1ch I'm with you on this. Perhaps he's just playing the who thing down. For all we know he may have already been spoken to. He has been very quick to rule himself out of other jobs, but not so here. Hmm ......... |
| News Comment | Jewell Says Goodbyes at 15:17:42
I haven't watched the interview Phil, but did he mention working with Simon Clegg. He seems very quick to jump to ME's defence, but odd (or not!) that he didn't say what a good bloke SE is to work with. Am I reading too much into this. Anyway, good luck PJ, I believe that you did try your best and I'm certain that the Dark Lord didn't get too many good wishes when he left, so take some comfort in that! |
| News Comment | Clegg: Long List of 34 Names at 16:38:22
What the hell, make that 35 names - I may as well give it a go. What's the worst that could happen - I could go 7 months without a home win, but I probably won't reach "tipping point"! |
| News Comment | Higginbotham Would Welcome Longer Stay at 13:33:02
Phil, I hate to be picky, but his quote actually says that if the chance to extend was there, he would "look at it", which is a little way short of welcoming it. I rather think that if results don't pick up soon, he will not have a decision to make! |
| News Comment | Clegg Circulating TWTD Questionnaire at 16:55:33
Phil Thanks for the clarification. I suspect that like all of us, SC can develop selective hearing when people are saying things he doesn't want to hear. Made my day having you address a comment to me. Love the site and spend far too much time visiting it. Thanks for all your hard work! Just been through Ipswich station on way back from London to Diss. Always look across at PR and smile, dreaming of what once was .... |
| News Comment | Clegg Circulating TWTD Questionnaire at 08:19:14
I seem to remember that last season when there was a lot of criticism of Cleggy, PJ and Marcus Evans, he was "unaware" of the negative comments, suggesting that he didn't read or wasn't aware of the content on this site. Now, suddenly he always reads the survey and it is the best thing since sliced bread and is always circulated! New item on the menu on matchdays at PR next season - "PORKIE PIES"! |
| News Comment | Sir Alf Stand Gets a Spruce Up at 22:27:36
First the turnstiles and now this. I can only dream about what Mr Clegg will have painted next !!! |
| News Comment | Town Topic: What Could Improve Matchdays at Portman Road? at 13:48:20
Play "My Way" very loud just before kick off. I remember being impressed at Forest when they did that with Mull of Kintyre (not really sure why they picked that one), but it gets the whole crowd (Home) going just as they were about to kick off. I'm with the others who say that "Singing the Blues" is just embarrassing. I know Sir Bobby would approve too! |
| News Comment | Jewell Slams More Calamitous Defensive Errors at 21:09:49
I don't normally comment, but I avidly read what others on here say every day. Like many others, I like Paul Jewell but (and it is a big but), while he is right in saying that week after week, individual errors cost us, the fact that he has to say it week after week is down to him. If he feels that the club/owner isn't supporting him in the transfer market, he may as well come out and say it. What's the worst that could happen ... It costs him his job?? It seems that 2/3 of the team is playing ok (even well at times) but the other third of the team (regardless of personnel) lets us down week after week. What seems odd is that the same 1/3 was letting is down a year ago, through the summer, the transfer window, the winter, the transfer window etc. When PJ joined us, he talked of our soft underbelly. It seems that he has slit the underbelly open and the life is slowly oozing out of us .... They say that it is better to be a pessimist as you are rarely disappointed. I think we have all become pessimists lately, but, Mr Evans, Mr Clegg, Mr Jewell, that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt. Please, please, please restore some pride in our club. |
| News Comment | Priskin Fine Despite Ankle Knock at 17:01:24
"Priskin Fine Despite Ankle Knock" Bit harsh. Could have let him off the fine if he's injured !! Sorry, couldn't resist. COYB !!!! |
| News Comment | McParland: I\'ve Never Been Beaten Like That at 20:19:16
"i thought we would either give a good account of ourselves or we could take a good thrashing" So you mean you thought we would either play well or we wouldn't. I could have predicted that myself. Charlie, I think you have spent too much time listening to the garbage RK used to come out with. As someone said in a previous thread, to say you were shocked when you heard RK had been sacked was nonsense - it had been all over the press all morning and was hardly a surprise to most of us. I actually think it's a shame that Keane wasn't there to suffer today' humiliation with the rest of us - i don't think the result would have been any different. I think we and the press are being played by ME again. Sack Keane just before a game against Chelsea and then unveil the new man in front of a packed PR before a cup semi-final against Arsenal. Great marketing, but not doing much for our once great club. After today I would happily settle for mid table (fourth from bottom would do). Imagine if we put a run together, made the play-offs and found ourselves in the Premier league next season... Losing most weeks, sometimes heavily. No thanks. Let's sort ot the mess we are in then look to push on. I was very much in favour of RK being shown the door, as i could see no way forward with him here. I feel a little sad now he has gone, as i think he genuinely wanted to succeed and gave his best. Unfortunately, his best was not good enough and we are where we are. Just wish i had thought that we could have added PORK to FORK before he left!!! |
