Totally agree. I like their Manager, in the McKenna mould, but refusing to call out those fans, or control the behaviour of his own players, is pretty damning. They are, and have always been, Numbskulls. |

This deal - and hopefully the Akpom deal too - is a real tribute to the huge amount of work McKenna and Ashton must have put into this - and particularly to McKenna's big reputation with those who've played for him. |

I'm not suggesting he would be directly involved in the negotiations as such. My point was that it would be unlikely a transfer would get OVER THE LINE while McKenna was away, which involves a whole range of conversations across the triumvirate of Werhun, Ashton and McKenna. But I'll stop there. |

McKenna, in response to questions about transfers: 'My focus has been here with the group.' 'My full focus really has been on the group that's here.' Just sayin'! |

Of course not. And yes I'm aware of the roles of Messrs Ashton and Werhun. But acquiring a player these days is a complex and full-on business where the Manager is crucial and he's in the process of assessing the squad and bedding in two new players. |

I've assumed that while McKenna is out in Austria running the rule over the returning squad, no business is going to get over the line this past week. Hoping something will happen next week. |
 | Forum Reply | Nine lengthy injuries at the moment. at 09:49 21 Apr 2025
While I agree with this, I hope the club is looking at why these injuries occurred. It may just be an example of players trying too hard - literally and metaphorically over-stretched by the PL - but that level of lengthy injuries is going to affect any club campaign. |
 | Forum Reply | I'm so frustrated with McKenna at 00:29 6 Apr 2025
It's not about McKenna being stubborn. But it is about him and Ashton learning from mistakes. Patently not a PL level defence (Greaves - why?), we need to think about foreign buys to make ourselves PL (and Championship) solid. |
 | Forum Thread | Foreign players at 00:08 6 Apr 2025
Scowcroft made this point before the home Palace game. Unless we invest in foreign players we cannot compete at PL level. You get better technical skills for less money if you buy cleverly, Look at Cajuste (sadly probably lost to us now). We've been weirdly obsessed with English speakers. But mostly we need to sort out our defence - Greaves, anyone? |

What a toothless bunch the PL and all its officials are. |

Can you get a retrospective red if VAR sanctions the yellow during play? |

Nevertheless, Ashton should take it up with Howard Webb again. Citing player safety should get them exercised and it would be criminal if it doesn't. I thought the standard of refereeing would be so much better in the PL and it's still as bad as everywhere else - and the use of VAR mostly just backs the referee. |
 | Forum Reply | What was the plan tonight at 00:12 17 Jan 2025
Totally agree with this. The dropping of Morsy effectively gave the game to them and meant we were entirely parking the bus at home. They're a team that works on maintaining possession, and we ceded that to them consistently - no-one in midfield to really put their foot on the ball and play. Cajuste works best playing off Morsy. It felt like McKenna hoped we could do without Morsy, spending too much time looking at Sunday's game. But this was the game from which we needed to get something. |

Whatever he is - and he is a massive dickhead - we surely knew what he was like after the summer window. All this time and effort spent on Silly Philly when the absolute priority is surely another proper number 9? |
 | Forum Reply | A few thoughts in light of day at 12:54 4 Dec 2024
While I love Mckenna, and we have been affected by injuries, it does feel like he doesn't know his best front 3 behind the striker. There's been lots of chopping and changing, Clarke has admitted he's been brought in to play in a position unfamiliar to him, and it just feels very messy right now. 4 changes last night, only one forced upon him by injury. |

Failed again. It's hopeless on 15+. I've been to the San Siro, to Wembley twice, watched them most seasons since 1966, but still can't get a ticket to see them in the PL. |
