Not sure how much we could in theory spend under the financial rules - lots I assume - but leaving those rules aside for a moment it feels like there's a risk the club's owners don't want to spent this window and instead want the club's finances to be as attractive as possible for new investors. Hopefully that's not the case but it's been an odd window so far. Next couple of weeks will be interesting. |

I'd heard Axel was open to staying if the offer was right though no doubt as you say other factors were in the mix. Don't suppose we'll ever really know. We'll see if the club means business over the coming couple of weeks. |

Let's hope he does get the players in that he wants before the window closes. Fingers crossed. But it's been an odd transfer window so far. We've allowed players to go that we should have kept eg Axel, Sam. We've only spent serious money on one player, the rest loans or free. And there's that '£100m plus' of player sales from the Brett J email that makes me think that currently it's all mainly about getting the financials sorted to attract new investors allowing the current ones to take some/all of their gains rather than build a strong enough squad to get back to the Prem. |

There's no way of dressing this up - shockingly poor performance so far. Was always going to be a tricky game but we've just looked way off it. Let's hope we graba goal and a point from somewhere |

Looking at what we've done so far rather than what we said we'd do this window suggests there's unfortunately something in this. There's time to prove otherwise of course and the Hackney saga at least showed we seemed ready to spend some serious money on the right targets. |

It doesn't help their case that they base it on RPI rather than CPI which gives a much smaller figure for their pay degradation and is apparently generally accepted as a better measure of inflation (RPI is due to be phased out). Plus quite a few doctors presumably entered the profession after the starting point they use for their calculations. Better pay and conditions yes, over time, but not to the extent they claim they are due. |

Feel 95% confident it's all in hand behind the scenes......but 5% of doubt niggling away given Ashton saying he's prioritising retention yet for one reason or another - some admittedly unavoidable - we've lost our best striker, our best defender and our best midfielder and probably about to lose Hutch too; and because of the Brett J statement about realising £100m of value from player sales which has not been satisfactorily explained to my mind. Still thinking it'll all be fine and we'll see some stellar acquisitions before too long and hopefully in time for us to get off to a strong start. |

If it's true we are paying him a substantial salary surely we'd have been better spending it on keeping Axel |

The Greyhound at Pettistree is great for food. As a general pub for a few beers I reckon the Woolpack takes some beating though I agree the Maybush and Ramsholt Arms are both in fantastic locations. |

I reckon Morsy is easily capable of having a great season next year and remaining as the first name on the teamsheet. I can't see Taylor cutting it as a regular starter though. Unless Cam's ready to step up it's going to be a key area, perhaps the key area, to strengthen. |

Yep. Wolves seemed to step it up but we let them - so passive. Despite coming off a great away win and a decent first half we looked bereft of confidence, intent, and intensity. Baffling and quite right that it isn't the first time we have looked completely off it in the second half. It didn't look at all like a team fighting for survival. Sure, there's a big gulf in class given our rapid rise but where was the fight - at least lose throwing everything at it |

Remember it well. On the wall, middle of the West Stand. Got there to queue for when the gates opened which might have been as early as mid-day. |

That we might have shown some improvement over the season rather than a steady decline? |

Good summary. While there are some downsides to his game, I also felt we missed Morsy's ability to be available to take the ball, get by his marker and play a positive ball to get us going forward (or at least into space). Without that we couldn't manage the press or get any momentum. Phillips doesn't do that. Admittedly didn't see a huge amount of that when he, Morsy, did come on but by then we looked deflated. The poor first goal completely changed things of course and our game plan was then out of the window. Although we did create some good situations with Burns, we continue to struggle to turn them into proper goal scoring opportunities. In some ways that is the biggest frustration. The decent PL teams do better - but then they have been able to build over several seasons at this level. |

I second the Rijksmuseum as definitely worth a visit - easy to walk there as it's pretty central (Amsterdam very walkable as a city generally). Worth hunting out some of the Brown cafes/bars for a beer. There's quite a decent craft beer place just round the corner from the Rijksmuseum if that's your thing. It's a lovely city, relaxed but somehow quite sophisticated (though maybe not the Grasshopper and/or Bulldog.....). The Oude Kerk right in the centre is worth a few minutes. And you can't avoid the red light district though it's been tidied up quite a bit over recent years |

Anyone else find it odd that the police apparently had the time and resource to follow up on a ping from a phone and then rather than just checking whether there had been a mistake, conduct an interview with a lawyer present. Maybe it's standard procedure. I suppose it could easily have been a fraudulent claim but even so. |
 | Forum Reply | Anyone else still angry? at 10:48 3 Nov 2024
Watched it back like everyone else and really can't fathom how VAR hasn't kicked in to ask ref to review. I assume Ashton will ask for a full explanation as to how that can be judged a fair challenge if he's allowed to do so |
 | Forum Reply | First two games very predictable at 10:04 25 Aug 2024
the key is going to be how quickly the new players can be included in the starting 11. I guess we'll see some for Fulham and more after the break |
