Just hope he will be playing for us and not Hollesley Bay. Looked good when he played.

New Joint-MDs Write
at 17:29:26

Crucially this is the two new blokes, Chelsea fans and with no previous knowledge of the Club clearly, save for a week since appointed, deciding that the Club needs a new culture and that they are the ones to define it. This is just them marking out the Club as theirs and with no care for anyone else such as the fans or the local community and no suggestion that either might be consulted. Yes it is much as you would behave towards a widgets subsidiary. The fans are described as customers who need to buy more fizzy drinks and burgers. Typically off the field staff numbers have been cut but the article says that income has to be maximised .

Jewell Dismisses Sharp Bid Claims But Reveals New Scouts at Supporters Club AGM
at 07:10:08

The homophobic chanting at the Brighton game was clear to all. At Millwall the references to Dale Farm were no better in my view. Perhaps the clearest example of the sort of chanting I would like to see come to an end was in the 4-0 loss to Newcastle "You're the only club that sacked him!". It was just nasty. It was not funny and it was not positive in any sense. Those indulging in this behaviour have no connection in my view with the Ipswich Town of Robson, Burley, Cobbold etc. In fact they disgrace its memory and culture. ITFC is a club known for its warm welcome and proper style of behaviour and play. At a time when we have no home grown players in the team and are run by an owner, CEO and manager with also no previous connection it is key that we respect and maintain the club's traditions. Otherwise it is all rather pointless.
A further issue is leaving early. At the Norwich and Millwall defeats there was a rush for the exists after 70/75 mins. At Millwall some left early but paused to abuse the Millwall fans on the way! If the players do not seem to give 100% fans complain but at the first sign of a heavy defeat they are off. Pathetic.

Clegg: Too Much Made of Olympics Link
at 16:51:38

Well the first question is why was Clegg employed initially (as someone with no experience in football and who did not even know that the transfer window existed) if not because of his 2012 links and ME's use for them? Clegg's reason given on another Today interview (in 2009) was that "elite sport was in his DNA" (the sort of management speak nonsense that most footy fans can see through) but even he has admitted since then that he has been "on a steep learning curve" i.e. he knew nothing. With ME and R** K**** also having little previous experience they made a trio of the "blind leading the blind" that left us with 21 players out of contract this summer. One wonders whether Clegg will be with ITFC after 2012? We can only wait and see.
Another negative point is that dealings with the fans e.g. the pricing plan for the pre-season friendly demonstrate the sort of hamfisted lack of insight that the 2012 ticketing mess seems to have reproduced along with the decision to exclude fans from the finish to the cycling roadrace, one of the few things left for those without tickets. "Empathy" does not seem to be in the BOC DNA.
On the positive front, K**** was sacked and an experienced replacement appointed and we have done a lot of business early in this year's window - before pre-season- and then landed Jimmy B late on.

Jewell Confirms Portsmouth Bid for Leadbitter
at 12:38:53

Relaxed about the idea that he might go. If the fee is right let him go and get someone else in. Came on a big fee and presumably big wages neither of which have been justified albeit under crap management for 20 months. PJ, it is up to you.

Clegg: We Got Wolves Pricing Wrong
at 13:26:28

What is the point of having a ground that is half empty? If young fans are priced out the Club has no future. To charge £15 for a pre-season right now is clueless. If you get people in the ground they create attmosphere and buy crap from the Shop, drinks etc. The letter with the ST said there will be another reduced price match in October and then after Xmas. Why only then? Why have a ground that is not even half full? Even if we won every game until xmas does he really think we would fill the ground at these prices in this economy? (The answer is No by the way) Get real or make way for someone else please.

Bowyer Signing Confirmed
at 19:00:28

Mmmm. Seem to recall a pretty nasty incident in McDonalds in Docklands when Bowyer was with Charlton. Not much doubt about his need for a brain transplant at that point. As for the incident in Leeds, he may have got off but what he was like was pretty clear. Hopefully PJ has made a few enquiries. But the fact that most IT fans seem to think he is acceptable is very worrying for the future of the Club.

Chopra at Portman Road Today
at 15:43:29

Last season scored 11 times but got 7 yellow cards. Watching him play in the derby v Swansea he looked mentally unstable. In 2008 he checked into rehab including time at the Sporting Chance clinic. He had (according to press reports) relationship issues, anger issues and a gambling addiction. His son is called Sebastian Rocco (!) Thomas Chopra. Is he worth the risk never mind the fee and wages?

Keane: Ipswich Wasn\'t the Right Club for Me
at 11:06:57

All fairly predictable. He left us worse off than when he started but whose fault was that? Oh not K**** of course, typical of him to blame someone else. Poor judge of players, after 20 months still had no idea what his best side was, crap substitutions, no idea about tactics or formations, fans who thought we needed to sign a right back "knew nothing about football" according to him etc etc. At least we now have PJ but it will take time to repair the damage K**** caused.

Players Fuming at Ransom Comment
at 16:58:52

Well this is the problem of having a CEO with no experience of football appointed by an owner with the same deficiency. Clegg can't be sacked because he is in place to use his contacts at the BOC to help ME sell tickets etc at the 2012 Olympics. So he is safe until after then. Do you think Clegg is FT at Portman Road? Err, no he also spends time on ME business in Stratford. We are just a small part of the ME business empire. Sad indeed. At least we now have PJ on board.

Dyer Back Among Friends
at 17:13:48

If Kieron wasn't knackered don't you think he would be helping a pretty thin WHU squad with trying to stay up? WHU tried to get rid of him by paying up his contract in the summer but he refused so he could keep on getting treatment at WH. If he stayed with us he would be an occasional player at best and that would only make sense for us if he was paid on an "as you play" basis. Kieron left us with great talent and a good engine, everything he needed for a career at the highest level. Since then he has been paid lots of money, hopefully saved some of it and failed to win anything. Very sad but there it is.

"they used to say you pick what you think is your best team"

Well, yes but after 18 months Keane did not know what his best team was, which was a problem in itself.

McCarthy Set for Town Coaching Role

Good to see we are getting someone who has experience of coaching at a lower level and with young players. We need to get back to improving our own players.
