“Got to move with the times”.“How many other clubs are sponsored by gambling companies”...

These are facile arguments. It's a difficult to attract investment, granted, but sometimes principles are important.

Plus, I simply do not believe this was the only/best sponsorship opportunity the club could have secured, with a bit of extra effort.

It's entirely reasonable to suspect non-exec connections (mates) involved here. Ignore the PR, ignore what he supporters views are.

Companies like this - ‘Happy Vegas' or whatever - sap our country's productive energy and bleed the populace, all while contributing virtually nothing back.

Very happy to be in the ‘naive' camp here.

Our economy, like our club, is truly sick. No true wealth-producing businesses around or willing to get involved with us. All we have are these tinpot, tax-dodging money-movers. Even if it's ‘practical', it's still sad. Was always proud we'd never advertised parasitic organisations like these.

Teenage boys say awful things everyday. Many of them, anyway. It's as though they just "don't get" what wider society feels or deems acceptable. The ones that don't eventually develop empathy and thoughtfulness end up on the scrapheap.

He was wrong in every respect, but if he makes something of himself he'll be glad he made this mistake so early in his career.
