Anyone got that sort of feeling that we won't go up next season yet?
at 09:53 9 May 2025

I'm cautiously optimistic for next season.

I don't want to be Billy big balls and say we will win the league, 100 points and 100 goals but equally I don't want to sell the players short with their capabilities.

I think the thing with the Championship is that it is so unpredictable for the most part and that itself brings worry. I just hope our poor home form from this season is extinguished early on next season otherwise we could be in for a shock.....

So who has got the bottle for next year?
at 15:19 6 May 2025

Football isn't as black an white as saying "I was part of the team who took us down so I will be there to take you up again" - not for the players anyway.

Phillips would cost too much on wages to be here permanently + unfortunately he's not hit the heights he did at Leeds before moving to Man City.

Cajuste would be a coup for us in the Championship but I imagine he will be wanted by mid-lower Premier League teams and would likely favour the higher level of football.

Delap will almost certainly go - could we possibly ask for a season long loan in any deal for him perhaps?

O'Shea has shown he is a Premier League player - but I suspect he will stay loyal to us, maybe with the incentive that he might be our new captain?

Omari is the only one im unsure on. He undoubtedly has bags of potential, but had an indifferent season for one reason or another. Could he be possibly swayed by money talk? Heart says Omari stays and sets the Championship alight, head says he will go this summer.

On that note - unless Stockport or Leyton Orient win the playoffs, I will only have 1 new ground to go to next season......Wrexham

I say runner up because we all know Delap will win it!

Anyone else, like me, not realise England were playing last night?
at 13:21 25 Mar 2025

Last night's match was a tough watch to be honest and I even suggested on Facebook that if anyone had problems sleeping that they should re-watch the game.

One response I had was "Could be worse, you could have a season ticket at Portman Road, and if that wasn't enough pain, why not travel to every away game".

Although I'd love to see England do well - if I had to choose between them or Ipswich, well there is no choice - Ipswich win hands down!

There is a big chance that
at 13:00 12 Mar 2025

We could be 9 points behind Wolves come Saturday evening.

Whilst we are at home to 3rd place Nottingham Forest, Wolves are away at bottom of the table Southampton.

A 6 point gap is quite hard to overcome - especially when we've only won 3 games all season, but a 9 point gap would surely be too much.

Lets hope this isn't the case though eh and we end up only 3 points behind Wolves come Saturday night!

If people think this is bad
at 22:30 1 Feb 2025

I think the concern is that if we cant beat one of the worst sides in Premier League history, on our own patch, then where are we going to pick up the wins we need to stay in the Premier League?!

We are also the victim of our own recent success in that we won so many games over the last 2 seasons, so to get so many defeats is a bit of a culture shock, especially to those with blue tinted glasses on.

Thanks for reminding me of the 7-1 defeat to Posh by the way.....Lee Martin had a stinker!

How much longer does McKenna have?
at 12:25 4 Dec 2024

Its a fair question when you look at other teams (I.e. Leicester sacking Cooper and getting in Ruud), however unlike Leicester, McKenna has far too much credit in the bank because of what he's done over the last two seasons.

Ashton and many others have admitted that we are ahead of schedule in terms of being in the Premier League sooner than expected. Whilst we would all like to stay in the Prem and build to become an established team in the top tier, the impression I get from all the interviews etc. is that IF we get relegated then it wont be seen as a complete and utter disaster because we would have given the Prem a right good go and we should have a squad + parachute payments to aid us in returning as soon as possible.

The only way I can see McKenna getting sacked is if we get thumped every week, playing the same old football and not giving it a go - which would only count against McKenna in his managerial career, so would never happen.

I'm probably in the minority here.

I was more hurt by last week's defeat to Everton than today.

Last week was such an "Un-McKenna" like performance from the boys and rarely looked like troubling Everton's lead, whereas today we did look threatening and at least gave it a right go.

Dont get me wrong, to be 2-0 up and then to go 3-2 behind, and then to pull it back to 3-3 with 10 men and not much time left only to lose 4-3 is disappointing, but the defeat is easier to take because the performance levels were higher.

Im proud of the boys tonight - lets take the positives onto the Leicester game, hope a few of the injured/ill players can return and get right behind them at PR. The Town fans today were incredible by the way!

My attempt at a positive twist on things......
at 15:01 20 Oct 2024

Ok so I may be clutching at straws here but here goes.

I was fuming after yesterdays game. I can take the defeat but the way we lost was so bad and thats what hurt the most.

Lots of people have tried to calm the tension and anger from yesterday and rightly so, afterall we are only 8 games in.

So yes 3 points lost yesterday against a perceived relegation rival, BUT who really expected us to get a point away at Brighton or at home to Villa. Add to that the point we snatched from the jaws of defeat at Southampton and there are 3 points we may not have predicted to get.

I guess what im saying is that this is football and anything can happen. Who predicted Bournemouth to beat Arsenal yesterday for example. We will pick up points in games we wouldnt expect to, and drop points in games we would expect to get points from - HOWEVER I appreciate that the performances will have to improve from the last two games, especially yesterday - but I trust in McKenna. Injuries to key players havent helped but try and keep the faith folks.

Leaving before the end
at 12:28 7 Oct 2024

What caught my amusement was the West Ham fans singing cheerio to our fans leaving, when the rest of the stadium was emptying fairly quickly!

If people left legitimately to beat the rush etc then fair enough, but those that left because they had the hump we were 4-1 down - what happened to "follow the Town, up or DOWN".

8xBet
at 11:16 11 Sep 2024

I'm surprised that with reports of kidnapping, human trafficking & illegal betting that the Premier League haven't intervened and asked clubs not to enter a partnership with 8xbet, just to make sure their brand isn't tarnished.

OR am I just being naïve in thinking this and that the PL is just about money these days!?

I personally don't generally pay attention to the advertising/sponsorships around the ground but if 8xbet (or any other betting company) was emblazoned on the shirts, id definitely not invest in them.

As we know from our time in the Pizza Cup (now the Bristol Street Motors Trophy), there are Premier League teams who have an U21s side in the competition.

Does anyone know if we were invited to participate in this now we are Premier League?

Forward Options
at 23:41 30 Aug 2024

Ok so we didnt get the striker we wanted today......

Broja was ultimately too much of a risk and Chelsea probably didnt like our lower offer for him. Nelson decided to stay in London and probably got contacted by former Gooner Smith-Rowe who persuaded him to choose Fulham. Finally Latte-Lath seems it was a bit of a non-starter in terms of negotiations with Middlesbrough.

Although we do not have many out and out striker options, our attacking options are as follows:

Chaplin, Delap, Hutchinson, Hirst, Broadhead, Szmodics, Al-Hamadi, Clarke, Ogbene & Burns (apologies if ive forgotten anyone)

The last 2 seasons our goals have come from all over the pitch without the need to have a striker bagging the majority....hopefully we can replicate that again this season.....or at least until January when the winter transfer window opens.

Disappointing we didnt get another striker in for sure, but not much we can do now apart from get right behind the boys that do play for us - starting with tomorrow at home to Fulham.

Leave any negative thoughts at home tomorrow and be in full voice at fortress PR!
