Lowestoft are my "2nd team" and they arguably have more connections with Town than the Budgies. Terry Butcher is club president, their former chairman used to be a Town season ticket holder before joining the LTFC board, they have had George Burley and Russell Osman down for "evening with" fundraisers (none from Norwich) and have had numerous loanees from us over the years (Harry Barbrook being a notable success this season). Like most border towns, the Ipswich/Norwich supporter split is about 50/50 but our 20+ years out of the Prem had an obvious negative effect on the balance of support but there are def more Blue shirts in the Town now then 3-4 years ago. |

This will only continue to rise is the current performances continue. The average for away games is 14492. i suppose it's like everything, you can't please everyone. Living in Lowestoft and finishing work at 6pm, I would never get to an evening game on time if it kicked off at 7pm. Also, with me working 1 in 3 Saturdays, I happy when games sometimes switch from a Saturday to a Fri/Sun for TV if it falls on a Saturday I'm working, but I know this is a big bugbear for some people. With regards the added time, I'm all for it Also, refs cracking down on any form of sh*thousery. My son plays hockey at a decent level and cards are handed out regularly for not retreating for a free hit or any form of backchat to the umpires. It's just accepted that you will be punished and therefore, discipline is so much better as a result. The powers that be have let it go on for far too long in football and I fear the horse bolted a long time ago with them trying to stamp it out, but I live in hope!! |

I remember Clough's last game well. I had broken my leg earlier in the season, so had my season ticket moved to the front tier of the West Stand right down by the tunnel so I didnt have far to walk with my crutches. Consequently I had a great view as Clough made his entrance onto the pitch before the match. In true Cloughie style he milked it as the numerous photographers scrambled to get the best shot. Then from nowhere a elderly lady who must have been in her 80s came to the front of the stand and handed him a bouquet of flowers and gave him a kiss. Truely bizarre |
