Nolan with a sublime ball there
at 17:20 19 Sep 2020

Nolan ok today. Bishop a bit invisible. Downes turned the game for us, But to me, Dozzell was Man of the Match by some distance. If he stays healthy he'll be the best midfielder in this division.

And on that we can agree. I was not associating you with the conspiracy theorists by the way. I know we can count on you to be better than that.

‘Readtheleaguetable was a moniker adopted nearly 20 years ago for reasons not relevant now but accepted as intentionally amusing at the time. Not inclined to change it, now. Like I have only ever had one club (first went to Portman Road in 1962) I can only have one user name.
And I’m afraid you missed my point. I am not upset by people being upset when they ‘read the league table’. They have every right. (Though a famous songwriter did point out that “When your gravity fails, negativity won’t pull you through”.) No, I am upset about people inventing problems when we have enough real ones already

OK I do see your point, Mr BB. But maybe you can try to see mine. I have no problem with people complaining about ACTUAL things that have gone wrong at the club. I can’t abide people trying to make things worse by making sh - er - stuff up.

Been on here since the very very early days of TWTD. I haven’t posted for a while, granted. Have often started or joined conversational threads over the years and have hardly ever complained (about the forum, that is...sometimes have about the football.) I have refrained from engaging for a while, though, and just finally felt like saying why.

Haven’t seen many? I just read another one. The irony of people complaining about people complaining is always delicious !

Nope. It’s ‘yours’. ‘Yours’ does not need an apostrophe. The only thing worse than pedantry is misinformed pedantry.

No, what this forum really needs is more threads from self-appointed ‘somebody’s’ complaining about people complainIng about how terrible the forum is.

That would be a fine contribution to a thoughtful discussion. There are enough real things going on to generate conversation about ‘what’s going wrong with our club’ without making stuff up.

Photogate and deletegate and all the other ‘man-management crises’ and ‘lost the dressing room’ threads based on fiction and/or wishful thinking. You won’t have to scroll down far to find them.

And we need to get a grip. The debunked photogate followed by the debunked deletegate. A 4chan/QAnon mentality has taken over from reality-based discussion and argument. A ball has not been kicked in anger yet, but already this season is catastrophic, supposedly.
We know who the fifth columnists are who keep starting the destructive threads. If people would kindly refrain from responding to them, they’d all get bored and go away to undermine some other forum, and we could return to discussing non-hallucinatory topics grounded on some semblance of actuality.

The chosen 12...
at 20:05 27 Feb 2020

With all due respect to the chosen 12, I think that it is impossible to have a legitimate ‘top dozen’ without including Ted Phillips. His goal-scoring prowess and his contribution to the club’s history both demand recognition. Only one player included from our only Town side to EVER be “The Champions of England”? Absurd.
I agree with those who have pointed out that Beattie’s statue is already a fitting tribute to our greatest ever player, and that’s the only possible reason ‘Sir Kevin’ finished so low down in this top 12 list. So I respectfully suggest that Beattie’s pillar recognition is redundant and that his pillar should be ceded to Terrifying Ted.

2-0 now. And still 11 v 10. Wycombe are in a false position and will fall away. Posh will have a false dawn before their inevitable sunset
