Any financial gurus on here able to throw some light on ….
at 15:08 16 Jun 2024

Agreed. I did say a 'more softly, softly approach like Luton,' not total.

There is a truism often said about the English football transfer market and that is "some you win, some you lose."

I don't swallow this McKenna being able to turn water into wine sentiment. He might well have established himself as of the best young coaches in the country, but he is no Svengali.

Some expect too much from him. Players come in a variety of sorts, and the higher they are up in the hierarchy the more difficult they can be.

He will do his utmost to keep that apple-cart steady, that's been the basis of his success so far.

He and his team put as much effort into selecting the right character as they do selecting the seemingly right player.

I no more understand those accounts than I did our own, but their fixed assets are a solid figure.
All clubs in the Championship lose money to a greater or lesser extent (wages) and overcome it by selling their prized players.

The term "Promised Land" gets me. The PL is anything but. Purchases, wages and bonuses eat that money up at a record pace.

A lot of the current expenses of Town are down to infrastructure, but this is only an expense necessary to comply with Premier League requirements and doesn't exactly add to attendance or income.

Already we are committed to a manager costing £6m per year, and we don't know what promotion bonuses wages wise the current playing staff will benefit from.

Posters on here suggest buying £20m+ players with £20m players style wages and £20 million style attitudes to upset the apple-cart. (There's usually one.)

I'm one of those who would prefer a more softly-softly Luton style approach rather than a debt-laden Forest approach. The current staff with a few sensible additions and McKenna now intact might well be enough.

Spend multi-millions and fail, and the club will be left with a millstone around their necks that render parachutes a pittance. One highly paid dud is enough.

Maddison has never been quite good enough for England, too hit and miss,

He also seems to be a tricky customer at times.

Is Ipswich the biggest town in England - And Other Things
at 12:09 6 Jun 2024

AS a youngster I was always led to beieve that City status was depended upon whether a plac e had a cathedral, but this is now far from the truth.
Norwich is a small City by today's standards, but was once considered the second capital of England (weaving?)
Now City/ Towns are just meaningless labels it seems.

ITFC is fine by me.

I stand corected:

"Is Brighton a town or a city?
10 fun facts about Brighton
An important first fact is that Brighton is actually formally known as the city of Brighton and Hove. The towns of Brighton and Hove formed a unitary authority in 1997 and were granted city status by Queen Elizabeth II in 2001. Many locals still consider the two to be separate towns."

Sorry... another thread about the situation...
at 09:37 25 May 2024

Kompany always comes over very well in interview. He is well-spoken and intelligent, has a good footballing brain and a very distinguished playing career behind him.

He was always destined for better things than Burnley and will probably be a top manager one day.

Rooney to Plymouth.....bullet dodged. (n/t)
at 09:30 25 May 2024

He might turn out to be a fit for them and will certainly put a lot of spotlight on the club.
Wayne Rooney's Plymouth Argyll.

Him and Lumpalard never seem short of getting managerial jobs, although no fans want them or understand why.

I have to say
at 07:59 25 May 2024

Today could be the day if Man. U's interest is for real.

They will likely lose the Cup Final, but even if they win it their manager could be gone.

They could have hardly sacked him and made a new appointment in the period leading up to an FA Cup Final.

I do not believe McK will leave us at this point in time for any other club than Manchester United.

It might have already been agreed with McKenna and hence his refusal of a new contract.

I will be nervous until Monday evening. After that, I will relax.

McKenna appreciation thread #1 - you know, just to mix it up a bit…
at 10:44 24 May 2024

We'll find out the value of our squad and the level certain players are seen at over the Summer.
Scouts are everywhere, and our success will not have gone unnoticed, along with the players that have led us to this.
The level of interest, the direction it comes from, and the ££££ involved will tell all.
Have we any players likely to attract bids of £10m+ (Burns, Chappers, Broadhead?) It can't have been all management.

The only cert. is Hutchinson, but Chelsea will probably want £20m.

McKenna I think it will be Us or ManU
at 19:33 23 May 2024

My resolve that it was always Man U .or stay put was shaken a bit by Chelsea's interest, but nevertheless, if the stories of his reps with United talks are true and these along with his own reluctance to sign a new contract are put together then the outcome of tomorrow's FA Cup Final may be vital.

Manchester United can hardly sack a manger a few days before an FA Cup Final.

Whether winning a major trophy is enough to save Den Hag is another consideration.

Quadruple pay.....
at 07:13 23 May 2024

But apparently he doesn't want to sign it. Quadruple pay or not.
If true, this is far worse news than every single bit of speculation of late as it suggests something is afoot.
It blows the view about him wanting to complete the project and loves the club and the area
firmly into touch.

This is the first dissenting noise from the man who has always claimed to have loved the job and has worked tirelessly to see it through.

It was a different Keiran McKenna from the dedicated man we had come to accept and believe in.

How much is current England international Foden worth in the market?

Jesting, I presume?

A campaign promise made due to the growing impact of UKIP, particularly in the Euro elections.

The only rumours that concern me are those telling of a Man. U. interest.

Brighton/Palace? Never. McK might just as well stay put and continue his job here.

I closely watch the situation at Old Trafford and the direction the decision makers there might take.

I haven't gone into details and only read the PinkUn occasionally, I did follow this quite a bit though, and it seems there is a two-year handover period.

I wouldn't know the % of shares each party has, but the Norwich fans are expecting more money from the US for next season.

They have a new owner ... part owner who is due to take over when Delia finally hangs up on her need to be featured on tv for every single televised match. She's usually half asleep, mind.

He is a wealthy American who owns Milwaukee Brewers and is loaded.
