 | Your Report | Ipswich Town v Wolverhampton Wanderers Your Report added at 11:06:12 I agree Maltster that our midfield isn’t good enough-starting the season with Morsy (good on the ball too slow at this level off it) Phillips (barely played in years) Cajuste (quality but never played at this pace and can’t string 2 games together) Luongo (well past it) and Taylor (League one level at best) was a mistake. Not spending funds on building from the back first was a mistake. It’s our first season in the prem and I hope the club learn from those mistakes But I don’t think that’s why we lost yesterday. We were easily good enough first half and had the beating of them but looked to be tiring. We should have rotated. We should have made changes sooner. We should be expecting more from the players coming off the bench. We lost that game Wolves didn’t win it. The team and manager are so different from earlier in the season when the threat of relegation was a long way off. Now it’s here (pretty much) maybe we’ll see them all relax and start to play again and build some Confidence back before next season |

 | Your Report | Ipswich Town v Wolverhampton Wanderers Your Report added at 09:16:20 Can we do ratings per half? Because first half ratings double or triple second half! I honestly don’t know why we had zero fitness second half having only played one game in ages nor why we looked nervous and made silly errors at the start of the second half. Questions for the management to address and hopefully learn from. Morsy was so good with the ball but Gomes ran rings around him when he didn’t have it. Townsend should have come off way before his injury as his winger had him for pace. Delap and Encisco were so lively first half but Encisco lacked any energy second. This was a loss due to tiredness not because wolves changed anything at half time. Such a shame. Did anyone else think the ref gave up for the last 10 minutes? Stopped giving obvious fouls, let their keeper take a free kick miles from where it was supposed to be even after asking him to love it back, no yellow card despite giving one to Palmer for coming off his line early for the indirect free kick. Must have been desperate to get home and watch his idiot clattenburg on gladiators! Good minutes for the suns but Taylor was a strange one-woefully out of his depth at this level. Philogene completely shot of confidence. It showed that Chappers hasn’t played in ages. |
 | Your Report | Hull City v Ipswich Town Your Report added at 14:28:31 I think McKenna put it best that we’re disappointed with the goals conceded and we should have scored more. At fault for the goals were Hladky, Morsy, Burgess, Wolfenden so I down rated them. Glaring misses from Sarmiento and Moore so I down rated them. Luongo looks a shadow of the player earlier in the season but Taylor and Travis don’t offer anything. Chaplin tries hard but is in a bit of a funk-I think partly due to new baby but I reckon having Burns and Hirst back will really help him. We missed Broadhead. We can’t afford to lose Davis. We need a CB next season with a voice. Hladky has been so good but can’t afford to make mistakes like that again in the last two games! |
 | Your Report | Ipswich Town v West Bromwich Albion Your Report added at 20:14:55 I thought Morsy was a bit casual in possession early on. I think Woolfenden gets a hard time-he’s a good ball playing CB but we don’t seem to allow him to bring the ball out that often. He was out in trouble for the first goal by Clarke and did well not to give away a penalty. I’m really hoping the team starts to click again soon. Burns didn’t do much positive today. Still the same players who have been so good this season so I’m sure we can come good and go on another run. West Brom defended REALLY well today so let’s not beat ourselves up too much. |
 | Your Report | Ipswich Town v Leeds United Your Report added at 09:26:38 I thought Leeds were fitter and faster for most of the game-unsurprisingly given they’re used to chasing after premier league teams and we’re more used to running around league one teams. I love morsy and luongo but combined they didn’t have the pace to turn defence into attack the way Leeds did. No doubting the ability of Ampadu, Sinisterra or the front 3 (no way Gnonto is worth £35m though but a shame he was back for this game!). Jackson tries hard but does anyone really ever think he’s going to score? But I agree with McKenna we’ll learn from this game and it could have turned out differently. You can’t give away 3 goals in 15 minutes whoever was at fault but it felt like it was going to end up 3-3. On to the next one-Cardiff won’t be as good as Leeds |
 | Your Report | MK Dons v Ipswich Town Your Report added at 10:51:18 Outstanding first half. Unlucky not to convert the two other chances we had. We undoubtedly lost something when Norwood went off. I don't think we've played too many minutes this season with him off the pitch so add to that Nolan and Huws starting for the first time in a while and some other changes - it left us looking very much like a team that hasn't played together all that much after he withdrew through injury. That being said - this game will only benefit us and all of the team and the squad of players and rotation. Huws looks very shy of match fitness and sharpness but showed some nice touches. Nolan does some nice pass and move stuff. Judge will surely have wanted to play in that 10 role though and if Norwood is injured this weekend then I suspect it will be Jackson up top on his own (Keane extremely short of match sharpness unsurprisingly - looked poor but some nice touches and will be better for the minutes) so maybe Judge will get his chance then. Skuse was outstanding. Downes - oh downes wind your neck in, you should have been sent off last night for several incidents of retaliation and for constant back chat to the (terrible but League 1 standard) ref despite being spoken to several times. KVY was excellent - so so happy we've got him. Garbutt was rusty. Wilson and Chambers did well. What I would ask for, Mr Evans and Mr Lambert - in January, (and I know Toto might be back) is an outfield player over 6ft and capable of wining a header! I can't remember either in this game or against Peterborough us winning a single one either in attack or defence. Gone is the set piece threat of Smith/Berra/Webster or the defensive clearances of those 3. If Wilson was a foot taller i'd sign him on a longer deal! On the ref and the linesman - not just this game but against Posh too - I believe pushing in the back when jumping/competing for the ball must be allowed in League 1 because the refs never blow for it. And whilst Downes was wrong to lash out and complain - one foul not given against him followed by the same challenge on Edwards earning a foul followed by Downes getting fouled and doing nothing but the ref giving a mystifying free kick against him - can surely only mean he'd annoyed the ref so much that he then had it in for him! |
 | Your Report | Ipswich Town v Brentford Your Report added at 09:05:21 Very well put by harlingblue. I would have taken Ward off at half time - second half he showed glimpses of his ability, but still showed that often it's by accident and that he doesn't have the hunger or desire to win the ball and do something with it. No idea why he took Harrison off. Nolan and Spence should be nowhere near the first team. Gerken made some good saves - but Bart commands the defence better and they need that - they were a shambles at times and no one berating them. I really hope Hurst stops experimenting soon - why was a right footed right back playing left wing back first half when we have several other players more naturally suited there. As encouraging as the second half was, it still highlighted one thing - we are crying out for Huws. Chalobah is poor, Nolan is poor. We didn't put the ball on the deck and pass it about at all, we just booted it over the top for Jackson (and his tireless running). |
