Randomly bumped into SS last night in a local pub. Lovely guy. Took time to have pics with my boys and chat about the season. Won’t betray too many confidences but thinks he’ll be back for Leicester game. Has just bought a place in south Essex and says he’s happy to be settled again. Said the hardest thing with the prem has been the speed/physicality and the fact that when you lose the ball you might not see it again for 10 mins. Said some very interesting things about that transfer and why it went on for so long. Said Blackburn wanted a financial clause relating to if we made the champions league ! |

Early days and not the match to judge, but like what I see so far. Looks solid and competent. Really pleased for Jack Clarke. It’s clear there’s a player in there. Hirst has been good. Broady likewise. Not sure too many of the others have given KM much to think about. Was hoping Phillips would’ve imposed himself more on a game like this. |

Not sure who they’ll have back by the time we play them in a couple of weeks, but based on this performance you’ve gotta think they're one of the ones we need to get something from. They really are bang average (albeit Liverpool are excellent). |

Just putting it out there as I've no idea or and don't know enough about his past to have an informed opinion, but is Godfrey likely to be an option at all in CM in games where we need more physicality from the off or from off the bench when we're looking to shore things up? Bearing in mind he's played there before. He certainly has the pace and size and also has more PL experience that most, albeit mostly as a defender. I suppose the question is likely to be more around ball retention and distribution which is where I still think SM adds value. As I say I'm not suggesting it's a good idea as I simply don't know and I may be off the mark (as ever KM is best placed to judge it); he just seems a bit of a waste if Axel is first choice RB and stays fit enough to play regularly. Poor all over the pitch. KM needs to earn his money. |

Walton Godfrey O'Shea Greaves Burns Cajuste Morsy Davis Hutch (if fit) or Broady (R10) / Broady or J Clarke (L10) Delap I love Sammy as to me he gives us something no-one else does in terms of his ability to link the play, but given how they bulldozed our MF at times at the Amex, Phillips might be a better option particularly if he can't play Sunday (not that it will happen....) |

Muric starting to look more like the real deal. A much more assured performance, albeit not huge amounts to do. But filled me with more confidence. Similarly O'Shea. Him and Burgess seem to work well. Greaves maybe just shades it given his ability on the ball, but like a couple of others, big Cam has looked capable each time we've stepped up a division. He's certainly taken his opportunity. No doubt helps having Axel on the right and dropping in. It's fast becoming a case of Cajuste and Morsy or Phillips to me. In terms of balance. Jens looks class. Big signing that one. Him and Morsy were immense. Totally bossed that midfield, first half particularly. Jack Clarke much improved on the press/energy, which he lacked in the initial few games. Will have a big part to play. Hutchinson scared the life out of Man U - I know Delap is, rightly, getting the headlines, but what a player: so brave on the ball. England regular of the future. Best reffing performance i've seen at PR this season - wasn't duped by Man U theatrics and let the game flow. No silly cards. Fair play. It's becoming abundantly clear where we need to strengthen. Upfront and on the right. That aside we look in pretty good shape. Thought Diallo was good for Man U - other than that a very average bunch of overpaid fannies. |

Interesting to see what KM does with the midfield once they’re all fit. Cant see him dropping Sammy but no coincidence Phillips had his best game in that deeper role. Or that we’ve looked more effective at times when Taylor has come on. |
 | Forum Thread | Mixed emotions at 07:27 27 Oct 2024
Really mixed emotions this morning having reflected on that. Lots of positives. Especially with all the absentees. But still managed to come away with nothing. Thought Phillips was great really stepped into the leadership role in sammy’s absence. Cajuste faded but with match fitness there’s a player in there. And on the whole the balance looked better in the middle. Chappers did great first half. Had my doubts but credit where it’s due. Another goal for SS. Hirst looks good enough at this level. And him v Delap is a nice headache to have. All that said points win prizes and we can’t keep throwing them away. Big one next week now. Play like that and we’ll be ok. But we don’t want to end up being this years plucky Luton. Keep the faith 🙌🏻 |
 | Forum Thread | Silly goals at 21:35 19 Oct 2024
We were poor today and uncharacteristically flat. And it might well be the catalyst for some changes. But by god we’ve got to stop giving away silly goals. Different game had that first goal not been gifted to them. We seem to averaging at least one or two bad mistakes a game which is inexcusable at this level, and above and beyond any formation or personnel changes we need to address that. This league is hard enough without gifting teams goals. |

Excuse my laziness but has there been any firm indication of when Hirst is likely to be back in contention as yet? |
 | Forum Thread | Woolfie at 22:52 17 Aug 2024
Woolfie as much as I love him, and to be fair he was generally very good today (Bobby Moore-esque interception in 2nd half being a point in case) but on at least two occasions he looked woefully short of pace on the turn second half. Pains me to say it but you see why McKenna has been looking at other options at CH. He was caught a few times last year but in the prem its likely to be much more of an issue. |
