You can see why McKenna likes him for that RW spot. Works hard and has a bit about him. A positive feel. Needs work on the attacking side of things as a few times was caught out trying to make the run then left us exposed albeit he worked hard to get back behind the ball. I guess KM feels he can improve that side of things given his age. The issue is the pricetag and the expectation that brings. He’ll be fine. Loved the look of Egeli when he started to settle. Omari vibes |

Thought they were pretty decent up until the 2nd goal. Good press and some nice play but they need a decent striker. Worlds away from Preston and Derby. They’ll be fine I think with the players they have. Least they tried to play. Any team that tries to play football against us will come unstuck once we click. |

A word for Leif. He was absolute class tonight. Making those overlaps. Pulling defenders out of position. Him and Jaden beginning to work that left side really well. These relationships take time like all good things. That will have done his confidence the world of good. |

 | Forum Reply | How many of the new signings will start on Friday? at 08:56 9 Sep 2025
Yep, that with possibly Young at RB. And maybe Jaden in place of Clarke. KM isn't one for wholesale changes. And thought Young and Jaden both had good first halves against Derby. With then Jaden/Clarke, Egeli and Azon to come on around 60/70. |
 | Forum Reply | Which of the new players will fire first do you think? at 13:05 3 Sep 2025
The 10 position is intriguing in terms of who KM sees as being the main man there (esp now Chappers has gone). I hadn't appreciated how adaptable Egeli seems to have been at his Danish club, with him playing all the way across the front three LW, RW, CAM roles and finding those holes Chappers used to find so well back in the L1 and early Champ days. Which is maybe why we went for McAteer as well. With him and Akpom looks like exciting times ahead. |

This is the point we keep coming back to. KM is trying to build a team to compete in the prem. Woolfie wasn’t going to sit and be 4th choice so it was the right thing to do, and it’s seems obvious that a 30+ chappers isn’t what we need. We have to trust KM who will live and die by these decisions as he should. When u come back down to earth and reflect on that team, when fit and firing, its potential is massive. We just need a bit of time and luck now 🤞🏼 |

Akpom wasn’t ready for a start, presuming he is going to play as a 10 (as seems logical). Likewise Egeli. And SS isn’t going to unlock a packed defence. Rightly or wrongly, KM clearly doesn’t see Chappers as the right level, longer term. Clearly he has a plan. And we’re gonna have to trust him. |

I thought Young excellent for the majority of the game. What is very noticeable from where I sit, first half, was how much talking, organising and encouraging he does. Which will be particularly important with someone like Egeli. He’s a very wise head. As well as a very solid player at this level. |

Exactly this. Azor, Cajuste, Young, Chappers, and Jaden all started to look fluid in that first half. Hirst was poor but will come good. Especially with some direct competition for his place. We all know what he can do. O’Shea and Greaves were fine, until they weren’t. I wonder how long before KM switches that up. Akpom was fairly lively when he came on. JC also: took some balls to take that pen - that will have done his confidence the world of good. Not sure about McAteer but KM must see something. And we’ve Egeli to come in. Still plenty of positives, but we need to start motoring soon. Big game Friday to give us the platform to kick on against Blackburn and Portsmouth. |
 | Forum Reply | 2nd half wasn't a football game at 17:33 30 Aug 2025
We’re gonna have to learn to work it out though, as that’s an obvious blueprint for others. We were starting to take control in the first half and clearly they decided they needed to revert to sh*thousing. And it worked a treat. Particularly with such a clueless ref. Need to watch the goals back, but both looked very weak. Plenty of positives in Young, Azor, Cajuste, Jaden (first half). Jack Clarke second. But lots to work on. We desperately need this win. Onto Friday 💪🏼 |

This is what I was saying in another post. Seems a bit lost on some what KM is trying to do. We clearly weren’t good enough last year, partly because we went up too quickly, so he’s steadily looking to improve us across a number of areas, and obviously replace those few prem quality players we did have. And it’s not going to click overnight. It will take time and patience. But if we don’t do that we’ll end up just yo-yoing, at best. |
 | Forum Reply | My thoughts on yesterday... at 13:13 24 Aug 2025
Appreciate the start has been underwhelming, but I think the level heads amongst us can see it’ll be fine. It’s clear that KM is trying to make us more prem ready so we don’t face the problems we had last time around. A bit like he made us champ ready in league 1. And that obviously takes time and patience. With the right additions through the door next week 🤞🏼, more game time for the relationships to continue developing, and a first win under our belt, I’d be confident we’ll start to motor. Let’s see where we are come late Sept / Oct before we start the doom and gloom. |
