Admiration from foxes.
at 11:15 8 Mar 2024

Wanted to post this after the Bristol City game:
The foxes have taken loving to a new level. When their match finished it appears many watched our last 15 minutes and their emotions went from schadenfreude to certitude that we would somehow find a way to win.
Fair play to them, they acknowledged that we were excellent and a credit to how football should be played.
Or are they wishing they could be more like us
and see attack as best means of defence.

This is from the moment of the penalty:
But open any page and we are admired by most of them.

shout out to our medicos

Travelled to Qatar to pronounce our prospective boy hale and hearty.
Then a minor back strain prevents him playing for his country.

Which then suffers the mother of all defeats
freeing up our new boy to edge ever closer.

Curiouser and curiouser.

Any App developers around?
at 16:18 8 Oct 2023

Now that we have a little well-earned break from football
I ask the twtd hivemind for help in App development

This is the situation:
I have a wonderful program on Excel and wish to run it on my mobile but
as Microsoft and Google are not on speaking terms:
Excel programs with macros are not compatible on mobiles.
…Or has anyone found a way?

My solution is to set Mrs. S to work and she’s re-written 600 lines of code into Python and has used Pandas and Kivy and got the program working on my laptop.
What a Star.

However when tried on an android phone it just won’t work.
Seems that just the final latch needs to be unlocked.
Any ideas as Mrs.S has worked hard and delved deep into her list of insults for these companies
and I fear I’m next on her list.

Highlights and xG
at 07:10 5 Feb 2023

Just seen the highlights of the Cambridge game.
Showed 3 of their attacking moves and for us just the goal.
Should we feel that even the highlights are biased against us;
Or examine why?

We may have 73% of the passes and the majority of the shots but even the TV can see that their chances were more threatening.

Have we ever had over half the attendance in an away league match?
at 16:54 16 Aug 2022

Last year at Burton we took 1,700 in a crowd of 3,735 making 45.5%
This was our highest percentage of the season.

Tonight there's a possibility of a higher percentage as just maybe some of the home crowd don't turn up.

However the main thing is the 3 points.

As to the original question, maybe some games against Colchester?

Commentators nightmare

Harrop to Parrott

Have we had other occasions when the commentary team have had to beware
of malapropisms and stumbles.

Slightly off topic but can never forget the horse race a decade or three back
when there were three horses named after bananas.

Albania u21 v Andorra u21
at 07:21 9 Sep 2020

Watched(no sound) this on a stream to see how young Dobs is developing. He started.
Anyone else view this mighty match?

A few observations:
Albania didn’t play well as a team, just collection of individuals.
An interesting standard as Andorra being geographically sandwiched by two footballing powers of France and Spain are not too bad, though they had to defend most of the match.
Albania obviously were the favourites, building from the back and attacking in waves mainly on the flanks and sending in high crosses.
Some poor passes and wild yips but occasionally pleasing on the eye.
Nice powerfully headed equalizer by tall defender from corner.

As for our man seems a bit of a communication problem as his team mates didn’t give him the ball enough. Maybe he took up poor positions or didn't shout loudly enough.
However team mates seemed to play the way they knew and not pass to the full debutant. Or maybe my glasses are blue.
When he did get the ball again his football brain being bigger and faster,
some of his passes weren’t anticipated. Overall he played well.
Noticeably the Albanians sent a lot of high balls into the box which is not his game.
He’s a 10. Don’t see him primary as a winger although he drifted there at times to receive passes.

Of course he received a customary yellow, this time for simulation trying to get a penalty. Can’t say if harsh as poor stream.
Also I noticed he’s getting much better at tackling back.
Subbed of after 82 minutes so an excellent workout.
Probably given a rest Sunday to be ready for Fulham??

As for the game an early penalty for Andorra and late headed goals from crosses for the Albanians gave them a 3-1 victory
(missed the last as was trying unsuccessfully to get us on the radio)

A good friend has posted this link about Jordan Graham

Gives some insight into the player, or as he was viewed in February.
Then half way down page 2 they realise he's been loaned to us
