An option on the rads would be to go with aluminium. They give out a lot more heat than steel, therefore you can go smaller, but they are alot more expensive. ASHPs are great and will save you money. Anyone that says differently either have a poor install or don't understand how to use it. |

You can have that argument about any benefit payout. Do you give people enough to survive on, assuming mortgage is paid and no kids at home. Or should the tax payer be subsiding someone so they can afford to go on holiday, or go down the pub every weekend, etc?
My Mother lives on state pension alone and still saves enough to spend £100's on her grandchildren at Christmas. |

A lot of the older pensioners 80+ probably didn't have decent work pensions, especially if they were self-employed.
Admittedly most people that work nowadays will have decent pensions to supplement the state pension, so you are right there.
However every government in the last 20 years has pushed company pension schemes and I believe there won't be such a thing as a state pension in a few years, you will be expected to survive on your personal pension. |

For an able bodied pensioner it is £220 a week or £330 for a couple. If you have disabilities or other health issues it could be higher.
At the moment every pensioner gets the payment, even if they still work full time or have a million pound in the bank. |

There is a lot of scare mongering by the Tories about the scrapping of the heating allowance. It is now going to be means tested, so those that don't need it won't get it. Millions will still be eligible.
The government say they will be raising the pension at the next budget by approximately £400. |

Absolutely rubbish. If you intend to do it seriously you need to get yourself a proper qualification. A gas safe registered engineer will not check over your work and sign it off for a small fee, years ago they would of, but Gas Safe are very strict nowadays and if they find out they would get a fine of up to £3000 and possibly struck off for 12 months.
If you want to do all aspects of plumbing, heating and bathrooms you should do a proper apprenticeship. If you only want to do heating, companies like Gasway (based in Norwich) who do mainly social housing all over Norfolk, Suffolk & Essex will put you through all your training.
It's a decent profession to be in and once you are qualified you can earn decent money. And there is a lack of qualified plumbers in most areas. |

I can't get to Bristol to watch the game in person, so Sky red button is a vast improvement on listening to the radio.
I have sky sports news running on my phone whilst watching the TV and you get to watch the goal replays on there, as well as keeping up to date with the other scores. |
