Hi Folks Given it’s a Sunday and BH today…do we think/know if the ticket office will be open today? My daughter has decided eating her body weight in chocolate and going back to bed is her vision for the day, so have to upgrade her ticket.
Tomorrow and all home games St Stephen's Church opposite waggaz is open before and after the game (10am-9pm).
- great selection of Adnams on tap - decent coffee & tea - CAKE - bring your own food or order takeaways in (like the fat cat)
Hope to see some town fans down here tomorrow. :)
Lots of fun gigs coming up too - Bluetones, Girls of The Internet (live disco/house) - Fabio (without grooverider D&B), 80's & Indie Daytime Discos... and plenty more. https://www.brightenthecorners.co.uk/whats-on
We’re opening St Stephens Church opposite Wagamama/Buttermarket today until 9pm for pre and post game liquid. Will be open Fri-Sat 10am-9pm from this weekend onwards.
All Adnams on Tap in the only church bar in town. Families welcome.
I know most on here have a favourite pre-game haunt, however, if you're looking for a pre-match hangout this Saturday we're opening St Stephen’s Church opposite Wagamamamamama from 10am to 4pm, offering a cosy family-friendly café and bar. Perfect for pre-game beer/coffee somewhere to hide/relax if you're doing some last-minute. https://www.brightenthecorners.co.uk/whats-on
We hope to open more in 2025 for match days and hopefully a full cafe at some point.
For post-game activity, local indie-pop band Reno & Rome headline with doors open at 7.30pm! bit.ly/4fgbSrm
We're also open daytime on Friday from 10am-9pm including me trying to crossfade some records I've not listened to for years between 6:30-9pm. Expect anything from The Stone Roses through to Television & 60's New Orleans Funk plus whatever nonsense I can dig out.
Be great to see some Town fans around.
Edit - you can bring take out food in during the daytime too 👍
This Friday and Saturday we're hosting BTC Festival 2024 across the town. It takes part at The Smokehouse, The Baths, St Stephen's Church, Corn Exchange and Ancient house - plus a free to attend stage on the Cornhill.
For fans of 6 Music but it also ventures into drill, rap and even country! It's a real eclectic mixture of up and coming quality artists and established artists.
This year we have shame, Ibibio Sound Machine, Alexis Taylor from Hot Chip, The Mysterines, Lambrini Girls and 70 odd more.
The (free) Cornhill stage also has food vans and a Adnams truck to sip a nice pint of Ghostie or Mosaic in the rain while listening to some of the region's best talent. Music from around 2ish - 9:30pm each day.
The paid indoor festival is until 2am. There is also a talks programme which is pretty cool including chats with Simon from Fierce Panda (Keane/Ash?/Coldplay and 1000s of other artists that never made it) and Deb Googe from My Bloody Valentine.
Hey! My daughter isn’t well enough to attend today however the ticket office is closed on the phone number so I can’t upgrade it to an adult ticket. What’s the best thing to do? Is the physical office going to be open today? Any help would be appreciated. Cheers
Hex Record shop is open today 10-4 in St Stephens Church opposite Wagamama. They will have the bar open for some low key drinks - there’s Ghostship, Ease Up, Kobold, Wild Wave, Dry Hop & Mosaic on tap for £5 a pint 👍👍 no rum or vodka today as the metal heads drank the lot last night!
We’ll be open properly in a couple of months so hope to be putting lots of events on there during that daytimes soon.
I sadly am off to Norwich to do an escape room for my daughter’s birthday. 🙄 will have my blue action T-shirt on ready to cause a scene in Bella Italia👌
I'm doing a bit of research of our fanbase to see if we should look at opening our music venues for match days.
With our home attendances being towards the 'sell out' capacity for the forceable future... do we need more choice of boozers before and possibly after the game?
I'm asking as we have two venues that we could open up for pre/post game beers, most probably just on Saturdays but possibly for pre-evening game pints.
These are St Stephen's Church opposite Wagamama and The Baths on Civic Drive. (www.brightenthecorners.co.uk for more info)
Bar taps are all Adnams and we can look at getting snacks/food as well. Both are in great locations and possibly The Baths could be a great post game pint as it's pretty big (up to 300 standing) and has two bars.
Do you think there is a need? Sometimes enjoy going to The Brewers, Greyhound and Arbour house...I don't tend to venture out of those on match days.
Would you be happy to have it open to families?
Would you be happy with away fans too?
- any other ideas or suggestions are much welcome. DJ's, live music, meat raffle, life drawing....haha.
I'd like ideally for both venues to be as inclusive as possible and have a great friendly atmosphere with DJs or a curated playlist playing. I'd like for my 11 year old daughter to go before the games, have a pie and pint (of orange juice and lemonade) whilst I have a crisp Mosaic, in a nice relaxed venue full of good people having a good time.
Maybe the demand would be blokes only, home fans only, blaring out Sweet Caroline on repeat!? I don't know, hence the ask. haha.
Let me know your thoughts as it's something we're not used to doing and need to work out what the opening costs would be/if it's viable. I imagine licensing would want us to have a couple of security on at all times sadly.
First up, what a great performance all round yesterday. I was spellbound by Aluko at points...that player has some serious skills.
Onwards to selfless promo....
This weekend we're opening up St Stephen's Church opposite Wagamama on Friday night and Saturday daytime for free live music and nice booze. We're restricted to 110 people due to fire exit dimensions, however it will be a load of fun.
I thought it could make a good pre-game drinking hole too pre-Portsmouth? We're open from 11:30 (music from 12) on Sat until 6pm with an Adnams bar....Kobold, Ghostship, Mosaic and Wild Wave on tap. SUDS (12), Soundscape Green (1pm) and Bessie Turner (2pm) should be possible to watch before KO.
We'd love to do more link ups with TWTD/ITFC/Blue Action when we get our hands fully on the keys from Jan next year. We hosted a KOA podcast from The Smokehouse once so I'm sure something like that will happen again soon.
Next week we're hosting 4 nights of live music brining more established artists to Ipswich for Independent Venue Week. We're hosting them all in The Baths rather than at The Smokehouse so there's more room to move around in, hide from Covid (it can't go around corners) etc!
It's great to put more established artists on after Sound City and we're trying our best to pilot venues like The Baths & St Stephens to see if there's a market out there.....to stop us having to go to N****ch and other places to see live music.
I hope some people on this wonderful board are going, if not, take a look below at some of the bands and tickets are grabbable from www.thebathsvenue.co.uk !
Hope to see some of you there! Soz for shameless plug.
