We put Filed Music on in The Baths, Jan 2022 to about 200 people, they were such great people. Incredible band, super talented, radio play (6 music mostly) and critically acclaimed. They also work as guitar teachers and with young kids in the area getting them into music. It's tough out there for artists and grass roots venues while arenas and majority of major artists don't contribute anything back into the ecosystem which helped grow them. Imagine the premier league not investing in grass roots football....it doesn't happen in the music industry. I'm saddened but not surprised.
It was my stag do that weekend š£š£š£š£ Had an amazing time though. Jamie Peters at right back is all I remember before a night out at the cookie club and rock city :)
ā¦.and the festival director is a top bloke too š Thanks for the shout out.
W.H.Lung for me will be a standout. Another Taste, disco from Rotterdam will be a highlight too.
Dubs, have you seen the talks on Sat? Simon from The Cocteau Twins/Bella Union, Gruff from the Super Furries and OneDaā¦.should be a nice way to slip into the Saturday.
Van Houten sound pretty lush tooā¦and pencil
For non ticket buyers, thereās a free stage in the centre of town, loads of good music on there from local and regional artists. From grime to acoustic, indie, pop etcā¦. Which you can wash down with lashings of Adnams from their truck and grub from the food vendors.
Hi Folks Given itās a Sunday and BH todayā¦do we think/know if the ticket office will be open today? My daughter has decided eating her body weight in chocolate and going back to bed is her vision for the day, so have to upgrade her ticket.

Be great to see some Town fans around.
Edit - you can bring take out food in during the daytime too š
During the Easter holidays (I think) in 1998, my dad thought it would be a great idea to take me and 2 mates (who were slight lunatics)ā¦.plus my brother who was about to start his a level exams away for 5 days to Butlins in Bognor Regis. It was absolute carnage for him trying to control 4 16-18yr olds. The highlight of the week was the 5 aside tournament. We were tearing up the pitch mon-wed but by the time Thursday came around and the tournament started proper we were an absolute mess. We somehow got to the semis where we met a team who had someone fully dressed in a Crystal Palace kit with 17 & Morrison on their back, and even 17 on his socks. Clinton, aged about 17/18 and his mates ripped us to shreds winning by at least 8 clear goals. We hung our heads in shame and a couple of years later realised who we had actually played against. - nice to remember that holiday as sadly one of my buddies died October 23 - he was a great player, if not a bit of a loon. Oh and needless to say my brother got D D E for his A levels so the break from revision really worked for him š
Ahh not another hero. He was an incredible, influential musician.
I was really lucky to have had a relationship with Herbie in my teens (in a non Saville way)!! Herbie was a genuine life changer for me. Back in 1994 he ran a Rock School in Canterbury for kids to get into playing music live. My mum sent him a letter as I was too young to joinā¦but he and the team let me join up. We had 4 nights away from home with my mates in halls of residence aged 12 and a gig at the end of the week and at the opening of the channel tunnel with some French dudes who played Money For Nothing note perfect. Farkin glorious. He was so understated often chipping off for a lie down on the grass and ciggie⦠he mentored and played with all the bands, he never said anything about his achievements. Was a total gentleman. I lost contact with him when I was 17/18 (he wrote a reference for me to get into uniā¦.I didnāt get in..haha) but those experiences through the 90s stayed with me. When I moved to Ipswich I set up Punch Rock Schools to offer the same type of experiences here before moving into other areas in live music. :) A genuine legend and good guy.
Looking forward to it. The Smokehouse line up is really strong! Hoping to catch Borough Council and C Turtle and possibly Plantoid too. Lots of good stuff there.
St Steve's it's Esme Emerson, Mary and The Junkyard as must sees + JIM.
Some clashes going on but the main thing is catching up with people, drinking and having a good time! Bricknasty will be insanely good too mate.
This Friday and Saturday we're hosting BTC Festival 2024 across the town. It takes part at The Smokehouse, The Baths, St Stephen's Church, Corn Exchange and Ancient house - plus a free to attend stage on the Cornhill.
For fans of 6 Music but it also ventures into drill, rap and even country! It's a real eclectic mixture of up and coming quality artists and established artists.
This year we have shame, Ibibio Sound Machine, Alexis Taylor from Hot Chip, The Mysterines, Lambrini Girls and 70 odd more.
The (free) Cornhill stage also has food vans and a Adnams truck to sip a nice pint of Ghostie or Mosaic in the rain while listening to some of the region's best talent. Music from around 2ish - 9:30pm each day.
The paid indoor festival is until 2am. There is also a talks programme which is pretty cool including chats with Simon from Fierce Panda (Keane/Ash?/Coldplay and 1000s of other artists that never made it) and Deb Googe from My Bloody Valentine.
Bug Club just announced Shellac tour support a couple of days ago which must be gutting for them on multiple levels.
Having a look through some credits, beyond Pixies, Nirvana and over 1000 others, I spotted yourcodenameis:milo I had no idea he produced them! This oneās a banger.
