O'Neill: Town Ready to Return If EFL Gives Go-Ahead
at 22:55:12

Ok, then we must agree to disagree. I won’t patronise you by saying “stay safe”, as it seems there is nothing to stay safe from where you are apparently, so I simply wish you good evening, and up the blues!

O'Neill: Town Ready to Return If EFL Gives Go-Ahead
at 22:50:41

Hi again ITFC. Yes of course we need to reopen at some time, but not just because it’s been going on for a while, only when the numbers allow. As for your daily excess deaths comment, I must respectfully correct you, daily excess deaths means, by it’s very definition, the number of deaths above and beyond the historic average, so every one of these deaths is on top of what the corresponding average is for whatever period you are talking about. Oh, and the weekend lag usually happens on or immediately after the weekend, not the Tuesday. Anyway, I’m sure that what we both agree on is that it needs to be safe to reopen whatever it is that is being reopened or restarted. Cases, deaths and the reproductive rate of the virus are all significantly higher in the midlands and north currently than in the south, yet the reopenings are nationwide. Perhaps it could have been looked at on a region by region basis, I don’t know. I’m in the north east where the numbers are still pretty scary. I guess however things pan out, we all need to do what we can to stay safe, for our own sake and for others. Take care and stay safe.

Hi ITFCsince1973. Of course, you're right. Only 324 deaths announced yesterday, 2nd June, and an additional 1,613 new cases. All's good.

IT'S TOO SOON! Irrelevant if people are now just bored or are missing their favourite sport. Things are largely no better now than they were when we went into lockdown! Families are still losing loved ones, the infection is still being spread. Football and sport in general should be nowhere near the top of priorities yet.

I just have this feeling, deep down in my belly, that we are going to turn a corner and end up staying up. Then next season, dark horses for the title. Could just be wind of course.

Town Suffer Skuse Injury Blow

Anyone can beat anyone in this league on any given day, home or away, so let's give this a right good go. Why can't we go to Stoke and win? Cmon lads!!!

Lambert: Everybody's Got to Be Pulling in the Same Direction

Rabbit. In consolidated group accounts, you are able to offset a loss from one entity in the group against the profits of another, thus reducing your taxable profits, thus reducing your corporation tax liability (i.e you don't pay as much!)
I am a chartered accountant.
PS, I am not for one minute suggesting that this is the reason ME is keeping hold of ITFC. I'm sure he would love us to be in the Prem too and generating the huge amounts of revenue that would bring.

No New Injury Worries as Lambert Ponders Changes in Busy Spell
at 15:45:56

You've just got to love PL. I really feel that we have a proper football man, a proper manager, someone who has been there and done it and knows how to go about managing a group of players. I admit I was pretty pleased with the PH appointment initially, but seeing how PL goes about things now just emphasises the gulf in experience, know-how and class between the two.
A win tomorrow night, a steady climb up the table, then next year....who knows?!!

Lambert: Really Pleased With the Lads in Training

Talking of free agents, I see that Robert Huth is currently available. Could he be the rock in central defence at this level that could make a difference for us?? Only 34, always seems to have been reliable in the Prem.

Hurst Not Worried About Situation as Campaign Enters Sacking Season
at 06:53:38

Personally, i want Hurst to be here for the next 5 years +, develop a youthful, exciting, passing squad of players and become the Ipswich we all really want to support. This isn’t going to happen in a few short weeks. If ultimately achieving this means an initial period of struggle, so be it, it’s only natural. Let’s not be like every other bloody bunch of supporters who demand a new manager as soon as things get tough (and usually end up with someone like Allardyce or McLaren). Let’s back Hurst and his vision for the club to the hilt. Things will change, let’s be there with him on the journey.

Hurst: A Special Moment to Lead Town Out at Hillsborough
at 17:15:45

Blimey, we are 2 minutes into this guy’s tenure. I for one want this to be a long term appointment with continuous improvement. We are not one of those clubs who ditch a manager after a few iffy results. It may take a year or two or three to get promoted but we have to believe in PH’s ability, vision and judgement and not panic before we are even into September!

Town Announce Squad Numbers
at 17:09:32

I personally think we may surprise a few people this season. Lots of youth, bags of energy, experience where it counts, and a manager who seems to have a knack of getting more from the sum of the parts available to him.
I for one am looking at this season with plenty of excitement.

Burley Applies for Town Job
at 12:29:34

I would actually go along with this. You're either a good manager or you are not, and he has proved that he can be. Yes he has been out of management for a while, but you cannot doubt that he has always set up his teams to play attractive, progressive football which is exactly what we are craving. Although he has been out of management, he has not been away from football during this time, he knows his stuff, he knows how to handle players and he knows what it means to live and breath Ipswich. I say why not!
