McKenna: Officials Apologised For First Two Preston Goals
at 15:59:48

Well that’s alright then! I believe these were Premiership officials. If that is the case, should they be officiating in games with no VAR? They have become totally reliant on it, as witnessed last Saturday.

Preston North End 3-2 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 20:43:49

Yes there were a couple of decisions that went against us for two of the goals but the reason we were 3 goals down at half time was that nobody turned up. It wasn’t the defenders and it wasn’t Jackson. Every single one of them were rubbish - even Morsy.

Town Edge Closer to Al-Hamadi Signing
at 12:43:52

Has he played any minutes in the AFCON? I don’t think he did for their first two matches and not even on the bench today. Doesn’t bode well unless there is something we don’t know about. Feels a little bit like a Gassan moment for me.

Charlton Confirm Ladapo Loan Move
at 19:36:47

If there is no-one in the pipeline, could it be we are in for a change in the way we play, e.g., a false 9? They have had a week to plan for it, as KM emphasised after the last game. I don’t think we will pay over the odds for anyone so, if the clubs are playing hardball, I don’t think we will be playing. Monday might be quite interesting at this rate.

McKenna: Nothing Better Than Getting a Win Against Your Rivals
at 20:35:57

Kieran may not end up with a statue at Portman Road, primarily I suspect, due to his rapid rise. However; I think that every blues fan will watch his career with interest when ho moves on and with no shortage of admiration for the man. What a manager!

McKenna: We Know We're in For a Massive Challenge
at 15:10:36

Agree with the sentiment in the above post but, fortunately, you don't need to have superstars to be successful. I believe Mr Rooney played in the 2004 Euros, so has first hand knowledge of that fact - there's been no better proof of this than the winners of that tournament. A proper team can be a match for anyone.

McCarthy: McKenna's Doing a Remarkable Job
at 18:04:07

The McCarthy debate will rumble on, I suspect. My problem with Mick was why, if he was so miffed at not having any budget to speak of, did he not push back or just walk rather than extending his stay. The longer it went on, the worse it got. He was effectively happy with mediocrity and that was probably why we ended up where we did in the end.

Leigh Completes Oxford Switch
at 17:28:39

The only thing that Greg did wrong in his time at Portman Road was to sign in the same transfer window as Leif Davis. He never let us down but was behind an immovable object. I hope it goes well for him at Oxford. It also seems that all this was handled impeccably so another reason to feel proud of the Town.

Town Confirm Hutchinson Loan Signing
at 12:42:41

Statistically these loans are more miss than hit. I think we would all agree that Hirst worked out well but, before that? Ryan Fraser would have been good if he hadn’t got injured. Murphy was probably the last successful one and he was already an established player. I am not expecting too much from this and hope to be pleasantly surprised.

Ahadme Joins Cambridge On Loan

Those righting Gassan off obviously weren't at Burton away last season. Since then he's had an injury and was at the wrong end of the Hirst move. I think this will be a good for him, he's only 22 remember. As someone mentioned, a certain Mr Moore came good in the end, unfortunately not with us.

Ipswich Town 6-0 Exeter City - Match Report
at 13:08:40

I don't comment often but I need to eat some humble pie. I said after the Oxford defeat that it was play-offs at best and added that the players weren't up to the pressures of playing for a big club. It seems I was wrong. I do however take some solace in the fact that it was the January additions that made the difference. After watching Broadhead for 20 minutes I turned to the bloke next to me and said he was too good for League 1 and he is. But the key to the turnaround was undoubtedly Luongo. Without him next to Morsy, I don't think we would have done it. Not totally convinced by Hirst but he has scored a couple of crackers. Really think we can do well next season. Uppa Towen.

Oxford United 2-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report

He may be at the wheel but it seems the other ones have come off. Understandable as the nuts have been loosening for sometime. I agree with a few of the others, play-offs at best. We may have good characters in the dressing room but I don't think they can take the pressure of playing for a well funded “big” club.

CHAPS Prostate Cancer Screening Day at Portman Road on Saturday

Appreciate laughter can be the best medicine but not sure about that comment. I was diagnosed with high risk prostate.cancer last September at the age of 52. No symptoms, just decided to get checked out. Not a pleasant experience! I have just finished chemotherapy and hopefully they can have a go at curing it now. My advice to all is get checked out. Don't let them put you off. You are entitled to a PSA check. I know it is not as reliable as they would like but I don't think there is anything to lose.

Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 20:30:02

Well, let's see if we can find a happy medium. This is the second game I have been to following the season's opener. I wasn't confident before the game but I wanted to see an improvement. I think I saw that today. I do not think we deserved to lose that game as we created more decent chances than Wednesday who were made to look awful first half. Second half was pretty even but they caught us a couple of times on the break. The sending off was an absolute joke - the challenge put us on the attack and if anything Foriesteri should have been booked for a late tackle. Harrison should have equalised; he probably won't get better chances this season. I admit we have to sort out the defending at set pieces but we were rubbish at that under McCarthy as well. Is there a common cause at work? I like many on here believe we should judge after 10 games and even that is probably too short term. I think it will come good, there is evidence that the pressing game is getting better. A bit of confidence in front of goal should it. Let's hope we see it against the scum.

Town Confirm Hurst Appointment
at 20:17:28

There are a lot of positive comments on here and a few have questioned this wave of optimism. Apart from selecting one of the usual suspects, I think ME has probably ended up with the best choice that we could have hoped for in our current position. There were perhaps more interesting left side possibilities that were talked about on this forum and they may have been considered but I guess we will never know for sure. Anyway, let's hope Town fans are not hoping for instant success as these things tend to take time. There are the exceptions but it took Burley 5 years to get promotion. I think Paul Hurst's first challenges are to provide more attacking football (some may suggest that this will not be difficult) and to manage expectations. I think I am optimistic without expecting too much from the start. I believe he has the potential to get us to the promised land. Good luck, Paul. Welcome to a once special club; hopefully you can help realize this status again.
