Bristol City (A) ticket details…

Yeah, they've been adding from the centre outward this time, still two more blocks to 'release' if they're needed, N35 & N41 (another 755 seats between them).

Also 40 wheelchair + assistant spaces (blocks A12 and A13) to add to the numbers too.

Approx 2400 seats 'released' for sale so far (give or take 150 or so, a bit of uncertainty around how many were retained).

Just shy of 2000 sold up to and including 5+ (again, give or take 150 or so). Season ticket and General Sale probably good for another 600 or so, looking like it'll be a great turnout for a pretty long-distance mid-weeker.

Cheers, like you said it just looks a bit too tidy to be the result of normal sales.

I didn't see N40 added immediately either (so anoying when my actual job gets in way of OCD-ing over ticket sales!), but looking at all the other stats I've got, it would make a lot of sense if there had been a retained block in N40 too.

The 'Profile' for this one is going to have to be based on a bit of best-deduction rather than raw numbers which is a shame, it's the first one I've struggled to keep track of fairly accurately.

You didn't happen to notice what the N36 seatmap looked like when it first went on sale? I missed it until this morning, so couldn't tell if the whole block was added, or if any of it was 'retained'.

Looks like 3200 non-retained tickets available for Bristol. Midweek match, fairly far away (210miles), last visited 2023/24 season.

Vs Preston, ~3400 sold pre-General-Sale (total sales ~4200), Saturday 3pm, 250miles, last visit in 23/24.

Vs Blackburn, ~2700 sold pre-General-Sale (total sales ~3500), Saturday 3pm, 260miles, last visit in 23/24.

So on balance; I'd predict a high likelihood of significant chunk reaching General Sale.

When you join the waiting room has no impact, everyone in the waiting room gets allocated a random queue position at 10am.

If you try to access the site after 10am, you just join the back of the queue (the 'back' of the queue today at 10am was about 5200).

It's hard to draw many conclusions from the Preston / Blackburn sales about number of high-point members choosing not go, both fixtures were always going to make it to General Sale, so there's bound to be an un-quantifiable number of high-point members who chose to leave purchasing tickets until a lower window to sit with lower-point friends etc.

Add in to the mix that for both Preston and Blackburn sales, leaving it later to get your ticket meant that some 'better' (ie more central) blocks were only released in lower-point windows, the need / want to buy immediately is reduced further.

What does appear to be clear (albeit the Blackburn sale is still open) is that demand overall for Blackburn vs Preston is about 700 tickets lower. Lots of speculative reasons why that could be the case, but not that can be proven by stats alone.

As a side note, I didn't notice / know this until recently...

If you want to double-check if you've succeeded: Once you know the ballot has been drawn, log in to the ticket site and go to 'Personal Details'. If you've been successful, under the 'My Profile' section, you see something like '25/26 - Southampton Home Ballot - Successful'.

My ballot notifications had been disappearing into 'junk' but I hadn't noticed until I checked here.

No intention to draw comparisons, just indicating the unusual high potential allocation if/when demand is there for it, no idea how often they sell all 7000, fair few clubs nearby I suppose so may be more often than I imagine.

We've sold 3393 in total so far.

Compared to Preston, per-Window Sales are lower in all Windows aside from 30+ (which is almost identical).

Looks like only the lower tier will go on sale as it seems highly unlikely we'll get close to selling out the last lower tier Block (S01).

Apparently Birmingham sold their maximum allocation of lower and upper tiers (over 7000 tickets) to their fixture at Ewood a couple of weeks ago!

25/26 Preston Away Match Ticket Sales 'Profile'
at 14:33 22 Aug 2025

Sales for the Preston Away fixture have slowed to trickle with barely 24hrs to go until kick-off. There may be a handful of last minute sales before the sale is 'closed', but I'm drawing a line under it and summarising as of 1300 on Friday.

The Sales Profile for the fixture is therefore (near as dammit) as below.

Summary (as of 1300 on Friday 22nd Aug):

The Club announced an initial allocation of 3000 tickets had been provided, with more to be made available if those sold out. Initially Blocks L, M and N were available for sale (2924 seats, including 16 wheelchair / assistant spaces). Throughout the course of the sale, additional seats were gradually added across Blocks P and Q (including some additional wheelchair + assistant spaces). At my final count:

- A total of 4565 tickets had been 'allocated' to us.

- The Club retained 149 seats for Club allocation / steward use (assume no ballot allocation as the sale reached 'general' level).

- A total of 28 wheelchair + assistant spaces had been made available.

- A total of 4388 tickets had been made available for purchase for across Member, Season Ticket and General Sales.

Per Window Sales:

- 568 (12.94% of available seats) seats sold in the 30+ window.

- 867 (19.76%) seats sold in the 25+ window

- 282 (6.43%) seats sold in the 20+ window

- 201 (4.58%) seats sold in the 15+ window

- 699 (15.93%) seats sold in the 10+ window

- 289 (6.59%) seats sold in the 5+ window

- 563 (12.83%) seats sold in the Season Ticket window

- 782 (17.82%) seats sold in the General window

- 137 (3.22%) remained released but unsold.

Points of note:

* Several hundred high-pointers (25+) have given this fixture a miss (some will have waited until lower Windows to purchase with lower-point friends etc, but I doubt that accounts for all).

* Seats that were released later in the sale, in lower points windows, were arguably better views than the blocks on sale initially (this is likely to happen for Blackburn too). For future sales maybe that tempts higher-pointers to wait for the 'better' blocks to be released before they purchase...

* Interesting to see sales in the 5+ (maybe even 10+) and lower categories as this gives a slight insight on the numbers of "I'm desperate to see an away game, anything will do" fans.

Book recommendations.....
at 09:40 31 Jul 2025

Quick look through my Goodreads history throws up only six books that I rated 5/5 (out of just shy of 200 books read). It also appears to show a preference for WW2-based fiction, I live in Rural(ish) suffolk and spend a lot of holidaying time in rural France, so maybe I visualise the environments in those books more vividly, the Robert Radcliffe book is Suffolk-based if I remember right, giving it an extra draw:

Under an English Heaven - Robert Radcliffe
To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee
Under the Dome - Stephen King
Far to Go - Alison Pick
All the Light We Cannot See - Anthony Doerr
The Nightingale - Kristin Hannah

How long do you spend sitting in front of a computer every day?
at 11:13 28 Jul 2025

Same as many, probably 8/9 hours a day (aka too much).

Keep pondering on getting a standing desk so at least I can spend some of the day not sat, something like https://flexispot.co.uk/adjustable-standing-desk-pro-series.html

Possibly related, a few of the tickets that are still available are in an area that was previously 'reserved', could be planet-blue tickets are put back into the online mix if it turns out there's no one there queuing for them in-store.

Interesting to know, thanks. I guess they probably know a pretty decent estimate of the number of 'regulars' who always go in-store to purchase.

25/26 Bromley (Carabao Cup) Away Match Ticket Sales 'Profile'
at 10:36 28 Jul 2025

UPDATE: Post edited; after the initial sell out a handful of tickets re-appeared and made it through to the 30+ window. Adjusted the OP to reflect that.

The first Away Carabao Cup Fixture of the 25/26 Season; away to Bromley.

The fixture fixture has sold-out in the second sales window (30+) and is likely to remain so, the Ticket Sales 'Profile' for the fixture is as below.

Summary:

The Club announced an allocation of 497 tickets had been provided, the total seat-map count aligned with that.

The seat-map suggests 14 wheelchair + assistant spaces, a further 84 seats unavailable for purchase. There's no mention of a Ballot so it's most likely the whole of the 84 'unavailable' seats are for Club-allocation or steward seating.

There were 399 seats made available for sale in 'points-based' sales windows.

386 (96.74% of available seats) seats sold in the 31+ window.

13 (3.26%) seats sold in the 30+ window.

Points of note:

* No away point awarded for this fixture.

* A one-off 31+ Window created for this fixture due to the small allocation.

* With at least 488 members on 31+ points (based on the Birmingham sales volume in the 30+ window) and only 399 tickets available, even with the one-off 31+ window this was always likely to sell out in the first window, in the end only a handful made it through to 30+.
