Lavery Joining Sheffield Wednesday
at 23:13:37

Thing that gets me on here is how do people know he left only for money? At 19 I seriously doubt the lad left only because of money and I'm pretty sure it was more of a career decision. No reserve team games, no chance of progression. Banging in goals in any game he got a chance in yet never brought near a 1st team that where struggling. I know the lads agent and he has told me Caolan money was never the problem but of course he will say that.

Surely jewell could have told him to his face like a good manager would do. There was no call for an agent to be involved in this discussion

Lads, just to let you know I know the lads agent and what he was offered by Ipswich wasn't even double his scholarship wages of £90 plus he would have had to pay rent and buy food and for only six months. He had no choice to turn it down. He was also offered a deal at leicester but decided Bradford was his best chance because of first team football. I for one have watched him numerous times this season and he scored every game I was at. To think that our youth policy is ok is ridiculous. Do we now just take the compensation after making poor offers and then just take a risk on the ones happy to take the low wages. Other teams want our young players the problem is PJ doesn't.

Lavery on Trial With Leicester
at 23:35:20

Jonju11 I can't help but agree the offer was only to get compo. Lad has scored 11 goals this year. Is anyone else in the club even close to that? The club is now a feeding ground for last payday players. The future doesn't look bright and I think it could be league 1 or worse very soon.

@j4ck22 also just noticed you said stay with Ipswich 1-2 years. I have no doubt if the lad was offered the chance to stay for 1-2 years we would not be having this argument.

@j4ck22 would you work for less than minimum wage for 6 months with no guarantee of work come may? Or would you see other offers of more money for a longer term with more opportunities? Take off your blue tinted glasses and look at this from the lads perspective. He gave his all for that contract and scored more than goal every other game.

I think there is something we aren't being told her. PJ has used the media to paint a bad picture of a kid who obviously wasn't offered anything near what he is worth. Watching this kid he loved the club. The offer was obviously just made as he put in the effort to get it not that PJ actually wanted him. I for one will say good luck to Caolan and I'm sure we will be watching him in the premiership after a big money move. PJ seemed to say he was free to leave then changed his mind. Reading up about it if the club told him he was free to leave we wouldn't get compo do the offer was put back on the table. He is obviously looking for the regular football got a longer deal and better money. If this was your job what would you do.

Lavery Exit Looks Certain
at 20:37:53

Looks like he is gone because our offer wasn't good enough. So people here give him abuse because he won't sign for us then say he will end up in nonleague, make your mind up either he is good enough or not. Do we base this on the youngsters we have brought through in the last 10 years because I'm struggling to find many. PJ takes to abusing the lad who seems to me is still considering our offer. Would you go to a job where your boss mocks you? So unprofessional from PJ and shows me he doesn't want this lad here anyway. I'd love to see the kid stay but 6 months offer or what is obviously a better offer from elsewhere what would you do?

Lavery Offer Still on Table
at 15:49:55

I have been holding out on the matter of talking in this subject as I think Caolan deserves the benefit of the doubt but the contract offered was obviously a token of how hard he worked rather than a case of how much we valued him. If this kid was with any other club he would have been signed up a long time ago. We seem to think because he is from Canada he won't know what to accept. That has come back to bite us. Yeah I understand we don't want him to get to big for his boots but do we want him to feel undervalued or worse do we want him to leave? The kid obviously has a future, goals don't lie but we would rather save a couple of thousand £ which is a lot to us but to out club is not a lot. People here need to think as well this kid is 6000 miles away fron home and obviously has another offer on the cards so why would he accept 6 months at a highly reduced rate? Keane might have signed a lot of young players but at least he looked to the future. Jewell just wants results now no view on the future. Using us to get a bigger job in my view
