Thread | Conor and one or two others

Indulged myself - and quite a little emotional I have to say - last night watching youtube highlights of us over the 2 back to back promotion seasons - what an absolutely magical time and fantastic group of players. It made me realise just how much Conor , Burns, Broadhead - not to mention many of the others - contributed to our success and how well they played ! It now worries me - particularly with Chaplin that although he is part of a Premier League Squad and "potentially" he'll get his chance - I suspect he wont sit around forever waiting - he's always going to be a Championship type top goal scorer and a few Premier league teams may consider him first or second choice for his role. My favourite player has been Broadhead for a couple of years and same rules apply - going from absolute central and succesful roles to third and fourth choice type players may last a while - but I suspect not too long. Lets see |

i feel just a tad disappointed we didnt get more from that given our performance - fatal error for me was sitting back too deep in the first half and yes city could have gone in 5-1 on that basis - but for 40 mins in the second half i thought we frustrated the hell out of them and looked much better going forward - apart from the header just before their 4th i dont think they caused us any issues in the second half
taking an objective view based on what Ive seen so far i'll be very disappointed if we don't finish at least mid -table - this team will become very hard to beat - very hard - so many positives again today - Johnson i thought was good and both Schmods and Delap are going to be one huge handful for defences the rest of the season ! Omari showed so depth and class and defensively any lesser teams would have come away today down by 6 or 7

think it will be the shock result of the season for both clubs
if we go into this talking about can we keep it to under 4 then it belittles the entire sport - how many FA cup games (when the cup meant something and everyone fielded their best teams) have we seen big upsets ? we can do this - f$%^k em - who are they anyway apart from overpaid

If McKenna proves his worth and keeps us up AND - gets us in the top half of the table next year then i think we should stick with him else we should go for someone with a lot more premiership experience, a track record of success at this level and possibly a track record of winning international honours. Lets face it we're not in the prem to make up the numbers and finishing 4th from bottom is only a moron's target right ? we need to march on to a minimum top 4 finish with 3 years.
- KM has done ok but proved nothing at the level we find ourselves in and I suggest we get rid of him at the end of the season if we don't like where we end up - he's ok as a stepping stone for now - he'll do and we can put up with him - but asap we show signs of relegation material - then you can pop of to Utd KM |

Watching the 2 foreign franchise sides who operate out of Manchester battle it our at Wembley (or was it the emirates, or st mary's or anyone of a number of no character stadiums that now all look the same in English football) I fear we've had the best of it in the last 2 years - Seriously where do you go from here ? Trying to get promoted from league 2, or league one or the Championship - even putting together back to back promotions based on nothing but organising what you have , some proper talent , not always a reliance on money and a genuine feeling of togetherness the journey of Ipswich over the last 2 years encompasses eveything "RIGHT" with football.
Now we find ourselves at the destination (I'm reminded of the old expression its better to travel hopefully than it is to arrive) whereby its bout one thing only = money. If you dont spend 100/200/300 million on players immediately - you have no real hope in hell. You operate in a league now where the football is dull (do people actually find Man City an attractive team to watch - Ive fallen asleep the 3 times Ive tried in the last few years) , where overpaid mrons with no loyalty behave like brats and where money rules the roost - and nothing else.
I sincerely hope we go back to league 2 and we can start again and start a new journey = the least 2 years have been the best in 45 for me as an Ipswich supported - that feeling will not be repeated for a long time, trust me

I for one shouted fro the rooftops there was no way he would move at this stage - for that I eat humble pie
The reason I said it is because he has the World at his feet an adoring fan base at Ipswich - already more money that he'll ever need and he;'d have to be a total idiot to move on -- or have serious doubts about his own ability and try to cash in on what he perceives as a bit of luck last year - anyone who was seriously good would honor at least another year and show how good they really are at the next level rather than hide behind huge budgets and big names. Been following football half a century - if he leaves it will be the biggest mistake ive ever seen a manager make - good riddance to him - he has SERIOUSLY gone down the toilet in my opinion |

I live in Italy and was able to get to the derby game a a few weeks ago but i was chasing a Naridge fan up an alley with an axe when i tripped over and cut two of my legs and an arm off - just a flesh wound
Yesterday I found out that due to over mastubatory exertion i need to have my final arm cut off.
Now Ive checked with British Airways and they have said that they can offer me a head and torso only discount for a round trip day return on Saturday but alas I have no ticket for the game.
Hopefully I have your sympathy by now ?
Ok in all seriousness - if I fly in for the day - its a 2000 mile round trip in 24 hours does anyone have a spare ticket - i'll pay handsomly for it / make arrangements to met / pick up , etc ?

out of 30,000 I've got 7,500 out with mental health issues brought on by extreme stress , Ive got 8,000 metatarsal injuries brought on by fans kicking doors, walls and cats when Hull equalised for the third time on Saturday and Im doubtful on 3,000 more who after 3 draws on the trot have sawed their own heads off .........................
Looking forward to a fully paid for by ITFC summer break to effing well calm down after the last 15 months |

Rejoining the forum after many years absence and now living in Italy so games have been limited to the ITFC feed ! Lifelong supporter - started in 1977 and saw pretty much every single home game 1979-1983 - a good period to start !
I rejoined the forum as I'm exhausted from this season - need to share it ... many nights of watching games like Bristol City at home and Southampton - what an incredible season.
My suspicions tell me we're going up - perhaps after another twist i.e. lose to Hull but still get straight up ......
whatever happens absolutely and utterly "WOW" from early 2023 until now - just an incredible ride - the club is in good hands - i hope we make it up this season - if we dont pretty sure we'll win it next year ! |
