Been to Preston a few times for various games. PNE fans seem a friendly lot to be honest, so drink anywhere in the city and walk out to Deepdale as not much near the stadium. Recommend the following: Black Horse for a trad pub, reminds me of Tolly Folly pubs; Plug and Taps for craft beer; Wings & Beer Co for a mix of ales and craft, multiple tellies showing different sport, and great wings; Late night food - nowhere beats Mick's Hut on Corporation St. Any fast food you can imagine, burgers, kebabs, fish, ribs, plus huge curry menu. Not noticed pizza on their menu, but there's a late night pizza place next door which might be why. Mick's is open til 1am [Post edited 19 Aug 0:01]

 | Forum Reply | Dull squad numbers questions... at 11:41 7 Aug 2025
Those old enough to remember the 1982 World Cup will recall that England squad numbers were given out in alphabetical order. Hence Trevor Brooking wore 3 and Mick Mills 12. Only exceptions were Kevin Keegan who insisted on his number 7 (should've been 9) and keeper Ray Clemence was 1. I think the Argies started this in 1978 as they had midfielder Nolberto Alonso wearing 1 and keeper Filiol wearing 5 |

Yep I know, but the site would show SOLD OUT if it's sold out, irrespective of whether my sale window has arrived yet. The 11 tickets now available again would explain it though, released from the baskets of people who didn't end up buying I imagine. Moot point anyway as never any realistic chance from the outset with this one with a mere 28 points |

Genuine question from someone in the private sector. Do junior doctors get any type of bonus in addition, or is their remuneration entirely salary based? Only asking as I'm trying to do the comparitive maths on my remuneration before I take sides. My increments over the last 15 years or so have involved 0% payrises for probably half of them, but have had smallish bonuses pretty much every year in lieu (or in addition where I did get a raise). |

Although to be fair I just checked back and there’s only 20-30 left now. So much for the predictions of it getting to 15 as it’s a Friday night, on tv and during holiday season |

Are you going abroad for hols? If so why not learn the basics of the language, a lot of people from overseas in Ipswich do one to one lessons, used to be a few on Gumtree |

Just recalling the goal he scored at the etihad in the first away game last season. Hanging on the shoulder of the last defender, through ball from Johnson and he was one on one with keeper and slotting home like he did 20+ times for Blackburn the previous season. Of course Delap soon came up trumps, but often thought of that SS goal and wondered why he wasn’t considered as a completely different Plan B. Instead we just went to Plan A 2.0 by bringing Hirst on |
 | Forum Reply | Who makes a weekend of it or day out on away games..... at 13:01 14 Jul 2025
Yes every away game. Saturday games I’ll head up on the Friday at whatever time of day has the cheapest rail fare, explore the town on the Friday night and either head home after the match on the Saturday or stay another night if it’s too far to get home on the Saturday and head home on the Sunday morning. Can get pricey hence only do a max of 2 a month. For Blackburn suggest you stay in Preston, decent town with lots of cracking pubs and friendly inhabitants. A few Yorkshire clubs this season where Doncaster is my usual base. Midweek games, duration of stay depends on distances really. For Brum I’ll head up on Friday and come back Saturday morning I reckon. For Bristol I’d probably go the day before the game and have the day in Bristol. |
 | Forum Reply | Any Coffee Snobs Around? at 22:45 17 Jun 2025
Pinewood, Sunday morning, my kitchen. I had the best coffee I've ever had in an Ethiopian restaurant in Nottingham after last year's Forest game. Restaurant was called Balageru. Ever since then I've bought the best Ethiopian beans I can find. I make it strong and black with one sugar and the deep rich flavour is just the best |

Starting on 27 assuming the same 5 pints for membership this coming season. Emailed the ticket office today as had a random minus on my points, and asked at the same time when the memberships would be on sale for this season. "An announcement will be made soon". Mid-July last season but guessing it will be earlier this season as fixtures start earlier. |

Reminds me of the famous incident between Glenn McGrath and Eddo Brandes the fat Zim chicken farmer. Brandes had been edging McGrath for boundaries through the slips and grinning back at him. One more edge for 4 and fInally McGrath snapped and lost it, yelling at him, "why are you so fat?" Brandes replies "because every time I **c* your wife, she gives me a biscuit!" |

Coming up with £94 via London on Trainline, if you travel on the day, or £85 travelling up on the Saturday if you want to avoid the risk of trains not getting you there on time for kick off Some replacement buses for Everton too, but seems OK coming back via Peterborough [Post edited 16 Apr 0:03]
