That sends a message to the rest of the league.
at 23:42 22 Jan 2024

We have the weakest squad of the top 4 by a mile. We are punching. And we ain't going away. Remember when when Leicester were winning the league in 2016 - it became clear there was a story in there unfolding before our eyes. Now it could be our turn. Maybe? COYB

Reasons to boycott Wetherspoons part 4708403275962765278465425826
at 19:59 2 Jan 2021

Ummm - not read through the whole thread, so sure my point has already been made many times.... but if these figures are accurate, what people peddling this will not seem to understand is that if the country had not introduced the measures the public has been asked to follow, where would we be? It's only ever been about stopping the NHS from failing and understandably that is the right and only stance to take.

My mum is currently in Ipswich Hospital with Covid and she's 90 with heart failure and diabetes so was expecting the worst, but thankfully she was taken off oxygen today and looked good on Face Time today.

I agree with the lack of diversity in the Govt.... of course an Oxford University education makes them all fit for government - I think in future, we should stop those people being anywhere near high office based on this lot.

And I guess Wetherspoons appeals to some, but never been my choice - except the Red Lion at Gatwick which is just convenient!

What's the favourite ever Ipswich goal you've witnessed and why? (n/t)
at 19:08 10 Nov 2020

Can't find it on You tube. A goal scored by Mich D'Avray in the 80s to beat Liverpool at PR. Absolutely fabulous header from a limited player, but the run down the right wing by Kevin O'Callaghan was just unreal.

Any oldies remember it?

TV shows with endings that live up to expectation (no spoilers)
at 22:57 1 Oct 2020

Still surprised me how it happened. Surpassed my expectations.... and if / when we get a second season it should be great - I was expecting an end to the programme there and then..... now we have a likely second season - Covid and filming restrictions permitting

Democray kind of sucks
at 22:50 10 Sep 2020

Unfortunately you and I don't like what the outcome of the free vote is delivering right now. But think carefully before saying democracy sucks.

This lot can be voted out next time if the democratic majority decides. Then democracy won't suck.....

if we collectively vote them in again, then it's not democracy that sucks, but the intelligence of the electorate that will be to blame or a proper endorsement ..... unless of course in the next 4 years they deliver incredible results.

A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon is now bl00dy fantastic - takes 20 mins off my journey from Peterborough (home) to Ipswich to visit family. Sadly, i don't bother making the journey to watch football any more

Our worry was taking the discount and leaving the equivalent tip - it may all be left with the waiter rather than shared - which is the fair way IMO

The bill was quite large given the wine we drank (so £10 a head is better left with the staff.

Yep. They will recover the£30 from the Government. Our choice to see the money that would otherwise arrive in our pockets be given to the people who served us. This was in addition to the tip (service charge we also paid).

I always remember Aggers reading out a weather report when commentating overseas - someone from UK had reported it was moist in the Belvoir valley (for those not familiar, google the pronunciation of Belvoir).

Did dinner on Monday - got 3 x £10 offered as the discount. Asked if we didn't take it, did the staff get it - the waiter said it all got shared with all the staff..... so we didn't take the discount and paid the service charge too - happy for the low-paid kitchen and waiting staff to benefit a bit.

By the way, restaurant felt very Covid-safe and was perfectly organised

Something happened today which I thought was unreal at the time...
at 21:30 20 Aug 2020

Holiday in Cyprus (Protarus) years ago - was walking with wife and two sons to dinner. Me and eldest were suddenly alone - 50 yards behind us was my wife and youngest speaking to a couple and their daughter... my youngest's classmate. We spent the rest of the holiday with them - other mum liked to get her boobs out and I had to remind her when we got home that I did not recognise her with her clothes on.

Turns out a former boss was in the same resort at the same time..... but only found out a month or so after getting home.

Earlier than that, on holiday in Minorca, my youngest, who we had sight of all the time, came running to us by the pool - "my mate is having a holiday here too" - family from school run were on sun beds 10 yards from us. That couple split up years after and the husband is now married to my wife's best friend.
