Edmundson and Jackson were in the gym but did not feature in the outdoor footage. Hladky was not in the video [EDIT: he was in the pictures though - this post has not aged well..], [EDIT: Antoni Bort] was in the training session. The only other absentees were Burns, Baggott and Dobra, with all three likely to have been given time off due to international duty. [Post edited 21 Jun 18:53]

 | Forum Thread | So when did Baggott sign his new deal at 09:43 17 Jun 2022
We know that the kit content was filmed last month. EB was away with Indonesia earlier this week. Has he just got back or was this deal signed before he went away? Are the club sitting on other announcements? Friday musing. [Post edited 17 Jun 9:44]

 | Forum Thread | U23 retained list at 09:15 3 Jun 2022
Any news on what is happening with those U23 players whose contracts are up this summer? I believe that Bort, Stewart, Kabangolo, Alexander, Ward, Cutbush, Curtis and Yengi have deals that expire this summer, with the club having a one year option. We know that the options for Chirewa and Simpson was exercised, although the latter will likely be moved on for a small fee. [Post edited 3 Jun 9:16]

When do the players return, friendlies, dates etc. Am assuming the usual mix of local sides plus potentially some close to Loughborough training camp? |
 | Forum Thread | Similarities between men's and women's team this season at 13:24 4 May 2022
Joe Sheehan made some interesting observations in his post match interview on the club feed on Sunday. Town women scored for fun in the first half of the season but in Joe's view had not controlled these games particularly well. They played very open, attacking football and often lost possession. In the second half of the season, Joe believed the women's team controlled games better and reduced the number of times they lost the ball. With less possession, opposing teams tended to sit back and make themselves very compact and difficult to break down. This describes the men's team evolution over the course of the season from a more cavalier approach under Cook, to the more controlled football that McKenna favours. Both teams appear to be at the same point in their development, capable of playing very well but needing to find a way to consistently break down stubborn teams, who set up to frustrate rather than play football. Rolls has identified we need to place greater emphasis on athleticism. It also aligns with McKenna's comments about young, hungry, athletic, technically gifted footballers. When you look at those pushing for a first team call up, difficult to make the case for many of them that they fit the athletic criteria, Baggott apart. Who else? |
