Going back to THAT night at Barnsley, they played Hey Jude just before kick-off and our fans were belting it out, a truly memorable moment - of quite a few from that night.
A mate was in the home end (as a Barnsley fan rather than undercover) and told me subsequently he turned to his Dad next to him and said "we're going to get battered here" as we were singing it. This was obviously before the now famous "Blue Army" chant that will live long in the memory for all of us lucky enough to be there.
And seeing as I mentioned that game.... let's have a little joy on this wet Wednesday morning.
Morsy left on a free for a big pay day. Woolfie for a cut price deal - so presumably a bump in wages. Broady & Chappesr gone to their home town clubs. CC, in the last year of his deal so we have essentially given him away for free.
If anything, we've been too nice to these players. At the end of the day, it is a business.
We don’t want to do a Dane Scarlett and play him before a loan deal - because if that doesn’t work out or we want to move him to a higher league etc. then we can’t if he’s played for us.
The man who has completed a full 90 mins since July 2023? Partly through injury, and partly through not being able to get in the very poor Sheffiled Wednesday team?
Whilst a move to Brentford would likely be better for us a club - more chance of a high sell on fee in a few years - I would feel better about losing a top young talent to one of the biggest clubs in Europe, than fooking Brentford.
Yeah, there are a number of holding clubs involved.
For example, Hillsborough is technically owned by Sheffield 3 Limited - which is owned entirely by Chansiri. Sheffiled Wednesday Holdings Limited (based in Hong Kong, but again owned entirely by Chansiri) sold the ground to Sheffiled 3 a few years ago to ensure they hit PSR rules.
As it stands, their players are having to car share to their first game of the season - Leciester away as the club won't provide a coach - and their first home game is in doubt as the company they use for stewards want debt settling from last season, and payment up front.
