TWTD Questionnaire 2023/24 Q10 Worst match of the season?
Even the best of seasons have their low moments. In 2000/01 we had the Birmingham League Cup semi-final defeat, for example.
And last season we had the Norwich away game, a wholly uncharacteristic performance. Perhaps it was a game too far in a busy period, maybe the emotion of the Southampton match less than a week beforehand had an impact, while there it was known there was illness and injury in the camp.
Whatever it was down to, the result and mood didn't linger and ultimately we'd all have accepted a derby defeat had we known we'd still go on to win promotion to the Premier League, regardless of the 15 years chants.
Similarly, the Leeds result, the only afternoon when we were very much outplayed in the Championship all season, didn't have a lasting impact and perhaps manager Kieran McKenna may have learnt a few things from the game which will come in useful in the season ahead.
