Robert_Garrett added 21:52 - Aug 16 We wqould have managed to lose a tough game like this is the past. Tactics were good on the night and there was only one team trying to play passing football. Some sloppy passing caused for concern but Walton held his line. Who cares, three points and top of the league tonight. ploughman added 21:59 - Aug 16 Definitely one we'd have lost last year. Much more character in the side now and excited to see Ball added to the squad. Still more to come with the only concern that none of our strikers (Ladapo, John-Jules, Jackson) have scored yet. ploughman added 21:59 - Aug 16 Definitely one we'd have lost last year. Thought Walton, Leigh, Donacian were excellent and Harkness took his goal really well and pressed their defence. Wolfy and Edmundson struggled to cope with their long ball approach and often did not win their headers which was surprising. So pleased that we held on to win and cement our position at the top of the league. Walton made a couple of exceptional saves, Morsy won numerous midfield battles, JD showed class and Jackson absolutely ran his socks off from first to last and deserves great credit. We wern't quite good enough to play the ball out on a narrow and slightly slow pitch, but Leigh merited his start as did the tireless Jackson. Ahadme was a real handful and rather bullied Wolfy at times - he would have been an excellent target for us to go long to. He hasn't proved himself a natural goalscorer but his control, movement and physicality made me think he could bring something to our squad. Freddies_Ears added 00:04 - Aug 17 BigCommon added 00:11 - Aug 17 Not one for the purists. Mistakes in both sides. We found it hard to impose our style of play. Credit to Burton for that for the way they pressed, battled and try to squeeze the space. I don't think you could have begrudged Burton a point from this match. Which makes it incredibly satisfying to come away with a very hard earned 3pts on the road. I gave Walton MOM. Which tells that we rode our luck a little at times. I didn't attend the game. But the 1600 Ipswich fans that did, showed amazing support. Without doubt, the 12th man, from what I saw and heard on T.V.... COYB'S. Eeyore added 00:58 - Aug 17 When we get a striker we will be unbeatable. Hopefully Jackson will move on before end of transfer window. Ladapo seems to have absolutely no ability to finish. Is it just poor form, or lack of confidence, or can he actually not shoot??? The midfielders can’t keep us top of the league. Eeyore added 01:02 - Aug 17 Jackson might ‘run his socks off’ but I didn’t realise that’s all you had to do to be a pro footballer at this level. Shouldn’t you be able to control, dribble, pass and shoot. I am no expert mind. You need to log in to participate in Your Report | Your Report
