Football Stadium Charity Road Trip
Written by wadey on Monday, 13th Aug 2012 14:07

Hello fellow Tractor Boys! This blog is taking a bit of a side step from football. The reason for me writing this is to make my little boy, Tyler, proud.

He died when he was 15 months old. This was on April 1st 2012. He was very healthy, not a thing wrong with him and he passed in his sleep. No reason was given and the cause was 'ascertained'. This basically means cot death but they couldn't class it as that as he was older than 12 months.

It's been the worst time of my, and my girlfriend's life. But we wanted to do something in his memory and turn this tragedy into something that can help others.

We have decided that we will start raising money for FSID - The Cot Death Charity - http://fsid.org.uk . They help raise awareness of cot death, research into finding a reason this happens, deeper investigation and they help bereaved parents and families.

Starting on Monday 20th August, me, my girlfriend and my dad are embarking on a 2,500 mile journey in my car. Travelling around the country and visiting the 92 English football stadiums from the Premier League, Championship, League One and League Two.

We are going to be living in my car throughout and will complete this within a week. At each stadium we will take a photo of us holding our specially made banner as proof.

We live in east London so will start at West Ham, on to Dagenham, into Kent and then down south working our way across to Wales, then heading back towards London, up the M6 past Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester areas, head up to Carlisle, across to Newcastle, down into Yorkshire, Nottingham into East Anglia and finishing at Southend.

We really hope that you can help us by sponsoring/donating here: http://www.justgiving.com/tylershaw All money goes straight to FSID

Thank you for reading,

Chris Wade

Something good comes out of something very bad! I am really sorry for your loss, which of course you can never replace, but I absolutely admire your drive [no pun intended!] in trying to create something positive out of the situation. All the very best of luck to you from a fellow "Tractor Boy."
