Nige isn't happy...

You have to admit that this has been a concerted effort by the Eurocratic establishment in France.

Macron wouldn't have stood if there was a credible Socialist or Conservative candidate to oppose Le Pen.

Far too simplistic badger. Has he endorsed LaPen?

Le Pen is the leader of a vile racist party. I wouldn't endorse her in any way whatsoever. But I can see very clearly that Macron is a fabricated candidate who was produced to save France's membership of the EU.

It's irreverent really. She has no chance in the second round.

As I said in an earlier post, I expect most of the Left and the centre-right to get behind Macron to keep Le Pen out in the second round.

Blimey Glassers, you're actually managing to sound as mad as Archer here. I almost expected you to blame the media here.

Le Pen has tried to detoxify her father;s party, inasmuch as you can detoxify a racist party. If she doesn't perform well in the second round I would imagine the National Front will move further to the extreme right, as Labour has gone in the opposite direction here after the election defeat, under the leadership of her niece, Marion Maréchal-Le Pen, who is a very nasty piece of work.

I'm sounding more like CIL actually, However .......

1. Did Farage endorse LePen in the link that was posted?
2. What part of my assessment of Macron's sudden emergence is incorrect and what do you have to challenge my view?

edit. Sorry mate. I know you don't normally do detailed analysis but you did dip your toe into the water on this thread.

Quite possibly so.

I see AfD in Germany are fragmenting and losing support under pressure from their more hard-right (even openly Nazi-admiring) elements, who are trying to stage an internal coup.

AfD are doing a UKip before they have really got off the ground. They need a Farage like figure to hold them together but the seem to have more of a Nick Griffin.

A third of Departements returned, and there are signs that Mélenchon is catching Le Pen, while Macron draws ahead.

My point is that you don't have to be a swivel eyed loony to see that Macron is very much a fabricated candidate to tick all of the right boxes by the EU.

If it's a choice of Macron or Le Pen, you'd pick Macron everytime.

It's a good result for Europe and the wider world.

Blimey. Melenchon wants full withdrawal from the EU and he doesn't have the racist baggage of LePen.

If he got through with Machron and Le Pen tells her voters to back him then we could have a very interesting second round.

Yes, I haven't suggested otherwise. In fact I made my thoughts on the National Front very clear.

That doesn't change any of what I said regarding Machron and his "new" party's sudden appearance.

Not disagreeing with you on that. My post was just highlighting that Farage has effectively endorsed Le Pen which was being glossed over

Melenchon has conceded according to Sky

Yes. Forget Farage. He is an irrelevence.

Do you agree that Macron was invented because the two main parties are in disarray and he was seen by the Eurocratic French establishment as the only hope of keeping France in the EU?

Both the far left and far right are running on Frexit.

Edit Mélenchon has conceded but not put his name behind any candidate yet.

I see him more as a Trudeau-flavoured, youthful, not conforming to traditional archetypes, Third Way candidate. There was space in the political landscape for such, especially in France, where some of the old major parties have taken a hammering in recent elections.

He was a member of Hollande's government and his En Marche party has seen sudden defections by quite a few of Hollande's minsters.

It's an elaborate case of smoke and mirrors.

He wasn't in Hollande's party for long.

Besides which, if his views are popular in France - he's leading the vote at the moment. Hollande, on the other hand, was so hugely unpopular he daren't stand again.
