I dare say any assets they have will be fair game once the airlines and Gatwick pop their compensation claims in.
After the unlimited fine there'll be nothing left. Not worth suing an ordinary person for millions. You'll spend more than you'll get. I doubt you'd even get to enjoy the pleasure of seeing them bankrupted.
As another poster says they'll not have any assets after sentence as the damages awarded against them will be tremendous and multiples of anything they actually have.
As for sentence of imprisonment I think they'll get a total of 7 years or three and a half each.

On the sliding scale that commands an attempted murderer, with a knife, during an age of increased blade carrying received 21 months, the Gatwick woolybacks will get about a year.

I agree with your idea. They haven't committed an offence that really endangers; so should get a lighter sentence than someone with violent intent. However, due to the cost and 'public' disruption, (that was intended) they'll get longer than some violent offenders do.

'They haven't committed an offence that really endangers' - until you consider the potential effects of a drone-strike on an airliner in the most vulnerable phases of a flight (take-off and landing).

They'd only really endanger if they were getting close to a plain, the airport has to close if there's a drone nearby; as a potential threat is present

If you fly a drone anywhere close to an airport, you're endangering passenger aircraft. These were seen going right over the terminals and runways.

This was the damage an Aeromexico 737 suffered this week due to a drone strike. Could you imagine if it hit the engine?? It would be catastrophic. pic.twitter.com/LvrZ2Xo8Cf

As I said above: you'd need to fly the drone near a flying plain! It would be easy to avoid the flight path and fly lower than a plain even approaching or departing a runway. Still shutting the airport without endangering. The airport has to close if there's a potential danger; not actual Your post has nothing to do with people causing disruption at an airports, for its own purpose. To be fair this is a first of this nature
