Hello,
Is it ok for a tractor or loader to go at 20mph on the A14?
Seems too slow and dangerous.
I saw on the back it was limited to 45 in black and white i assume this is kmph?
Also that issue aside some idiot slammed on their brakes in the fast lane to let me through i was not indicating and had no intention of over taking from such a slow speed moving into the fast lane. Why do people decide to do these things? Could have been a massive pile up.
Thoughts?

I could be wrong, but I don't believe there is a legal "minimum speed limit" or the likes. You probably could be done for dangerous driving however? You will deffo fail your driving test if you drive so slowly as to necessarily impede other road users... |  |

While there is a minimum speed capability requirement on motorways (why you don't see mopeds on them), there isn't on A roads.
It's not dangerous, as other drivers ought to be taking proper care of possible obstructions, leaving safe stopping distance.
Expect the other driver was trying to be polite but messed it up. |  |

There's no minimum speed limit, but a vehicle is travelling below a certain speed, they have to have a flashing light on the top. |  |

Its almost like we live in a rural area and it's close to harvesting time. |
It's silaging & hay-making - late because of cold, wet weather in May & early June - and farmers being desperate to get their crop in before it starts raining tomorrow.
They've every right to be going at their safe speed on the road, they're pretty keen to get on as fast as they can too! but I think many could be more considerate by, where poss, pulling into a layby for a minute to allow any long queue that's built up behind them to get past - would be win-win, with people having more sympathy with, & patience for them in the long run. |  |

I read once that on single lane roads (I mean not dual-carriageways, rather than tiny lanes), that if the queue behind a slow vehicle builds up to more than 8 vehicles, the slow one at the front of the queue has to pull over.
I wish I'd never read that - it just serves to frustrate now when they don't pull over... | |

Speed limit for most tractors is 25 mph (40 mph) some tractors have a higher limit of 40mph ( 65kph) so no idea what the figure of 45 relates to.

Guthers has it right, as usual. The problem is the impatience of others, not the speed of the farm vehicle, which is as entitled to be there as any other road user.
Such vehicles are banned from motorways, but not A roads. |  |
