I win, surely? Today I had two almonds for lunch. Not even kidding. By order of my personal trainer last night, I had to have a big breakfast this morning... and then 2 almonds every 4 hours is all I'm allowed to eat until dinner.

Just do fasting. Eat what you want between 11 and 6 but try to get your total calories in at 10% under your recommended amount. The rest of the time you can drink water still or sparkling, black coffee, black tea.

Doesn't work when I'm going to be working out after work, and like to have dinner with my wife in the evening

Move your window up then. Do 12pm-8pm or 1pm-9pm.

You didn't think to ask what the benefit was when he told you this? I'd be interested in his answer if you do end up asking.
Like I said, everything is geared to fitness, muscle, bit of weight-loss (though I don't need much of this). I just laughed at the 2 almonds thing and said "ok". It was the end of my session and we were walking out after that. I guess I should've asked about specific benefits... but he just said, "I promise you'll feel great" and I left it at that.
Must admit, I haven't had the usual post-lunch slump. Feel pretty good at the moment.

What does your average lunch look like when you have a slump?

I don't have an 'average' lunch. I work in central London, so it's whatever I fancy from the myriad of food outlets. Yesterday was a katsu curry from Yo!, the day before a chorizo and mixed pepper sourdough sandwich thing from M&S.
Doesn't everyone have a post-lunch slump, around 3-4pm?

Depends what people eat. A sandwich, crisps and a full sugar Coke then yea probably. A lunch with plenty of protein, fibre and good fats, probably not.
I had a mate who complained he always ate loads of biscuits in the afternoon. He was eating complete sh1te for lunch. A few changes and his problem was solved.

I eat the type of meals you describe (protein rich, healthy carbs and fats) and am always hungry, but then I eat 6 times a day so think my body is used to always processing food
Interestingly though said diet does pretty much the same as Dolly is looking to achieve - although I’m fairly confident that it’s actually the exercise that goes with it that makes the main difference
I’m also fairly confident that these things aren’t rocket science unless you’re after a specific body shape goal - eg. Eating healthier + regular exercise = weight loss, QED

Mine is usually from 1-4pm. My pre lunch slump usually from 9:30-12.
