We were lucky yesterday if we're all being honest. Managed to hang in the game, but we were 2nd best for long periods.

They have this very weird idea that the authorities and officials are on our side. If that were the case, we might occasionally get a 50/50 decision, or a blatant pen against Blackburn etc etc

I read both the above and the Southampton forum last night. The funniest thing is they seem more annoyed by the red card and amount of extra time than Saints fans.

Spent the last 20mins chuckling over the Foxestalk in match thread... on 10:36 - Apr 2 with 4743 views | Sarge | They make out that it was inevitable that we score a last minute winner (and it was, because the crowd gets the team across the line). But statistically, Southampton should have been just as likely. Here are all the goals scored after the 85th minute. Not all of them changed the result. Sheff Wed 1-2 Southampton (Adams 87) Southampton 4-4 Norwich (Armstrong 90+7) Plymouth 1-2 Southampton (Adams 90+4) Hull 1-2 Southampton (Fraser 90+5) PNE 2-2 Southampton (OG 90+6) Southampton 3-1 Birmingham (Armstrong 86) Millwall 0-1 Southampton (Fraser 90+3) Southampton 4-0 (Mara 90+7, Alcaraz 90+9) Southampton 5-0 Swansea (Fraser 87, Adams 90+3) Southampton 4-0 Sheff Wed (Mara 85) Southampton 5-3 Huddersfield (Edozie 90) Birmingham 3-4 Southampton (Aribo 90+6) SOUTHAMPTON POINTS WON AFTER 85TH MIN: 12 Huddersfield 1-1 Ipswich (Williams 87) Ipswich 3-2 Plymouth (Harness 86) Birmingham 2-2 Ipswich (Harness 89) Rotherham 2-2 Ipswich (Taylor 87, cancelled out) Ipswich 1-1 Leicester (OG 90+3) Leicester 1-1 Ipswich (Sarmiento 89) PNE 3-2 Ipswich (Moore 87) Ipswich 2-2 WBA (Hutchinson 90+3) Millwall 0-4 Ipswich (Al-Hamadi 90+3) Ipswich 4-3 Rotherham (Hutchinson 90+5) Ipswich 3-1 Birmingham (Hutchinson 90+2) Ipswich 3-2 Bristol City (Davis 89) Ipswich 6-0 Sheff Wed (Al-Hamadi 90) Ipswich 3-2 Southampton (Sarmiento 90+7) IPSWICH POINTS WON AFTER 85TH MIN: 13 The difference is that most of Southampton's came before Christmas, and most of our afterwards. Fans have short memories. [Post edited 2 Apr 10:37]

Weird bunch, aren't they. Of course we struggle at times against the parachute teams - we're a side put together in L1 and have a fraction of the money they've got. But what we do well is make the most of what we have and never give up - and they hate that for some reason. They have no idea how entitled they come across. As for all this deflected goals bollox, lol. Yeah, 3 really lucky deflected strikes yesterday As the saying goes, stupidity hath no equal like a salty football fan scorned.

Have we struggled against the parachute clubs? 2 wins (Southampton), 2 draws (Leicester) and 2 defeats (Leeds) is a fairly reasonable return.

Performance wise, we’ve had our issues - particularly away to Leeds, the first halves in both games against Leicester and up to around the hour mark yesterday. But that should be expected considering.

That Sarmiento goal was real quality. Quite outrageous he had the state of mind in the 97th minute under pressure to roll it back to give himself an extra half a yard and then poke it into the corner rather than slashing at it.

Leeds away was poor to be fair. With the others, there's no denying we were second-best for spells of the games, but we stayed strong and stayed in the game, then came again. Nothing wrong with that - we can't dominate every minute of every game, especially against legally financially doped clubs with squads worth £100m+.

A bit more than against the rest of the league imo. We certainly struggled first half yesterday. We struggled against Leeds, we struggled in the first half of our away match at Leicester. But overall in terms of results, I'm very happy with that set.

For balance, the majority of Saints and Fox fans have been pretty complimentary. I'm sure we come across as a hotbed of utter bellendery if fans only read some of the more vocal Towen fans on twitter etc.

£211M in Leicester's case, if Transfermkt is in any way accurate. £206M for Leeds and £190M for S'ton. £50M for us (that's generous, presumably based on our growth this season). it's all pretty notional in terms of specific vales, but no doubting those three have way more resources at their disposal than any other team in the league. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/championship/startseite/wettbewerb/GB2 [Post edited 2 Apr 11:19]

Yesterday and in both Leicester games we stayed in the match and trusted that we'd be able to get something out of the game as it wore on. Would have been easy to over commit when we went behind and get picked off on the counter. Sensible game management and we've affected all 3 of those games with fresh legs.

Some of it is a form of jealousy. Our squad is performing way above their presumed level virtually all the time. Theirs can never exceed the expected standard, only drop below. Our manager is not only tactically astute and flexible, but also unafraid to make maximum use of substitutions. Their own managers unwillingness to do that last being a frequent grumble of Leeds, Leicester and Soton forum posters when things don't go well for them.

Get your own house in order if you want to get promoted, we're here for the ride, if any one of these teams doesn't get promoted then then they will get picked off like a carcass at the end of the season. Leicester will have the joy of starting with a 10 point penalty to boot.

I mean, they *could* instruct refs to give red cards in our favour (the odd penalty wouldn't go amiss), but they can't make Southampton miss all their chances. If they'd put the game to bed when they were on top for large parts of the game, it would have taken about five penalties for the league to 'get what they want'

Imagine the annoyance of being 1 minute off the in the sweepstake "Is there a sweepstake for the minute Ipswich get a deflected goal? I'm going 90+8"
Spent the last 20mins chuckling over the Foxestalk in match thread... on 11:58 - Apr 2 with 3812 views | wkj | Foxes Talk liked us until we, and Leeds, became a legitimate threat. I think they don't hate Ipswich but are just feeling the pressure from having it in the bag and then falling away. One thing about luck, is we have had a bit of good fortune on our side in a couple of recent games, but that's the rub of it really. Like all teams, we've had our fair share of s*ite luck to balance it out. I have a sneaky suspicion most Leicester fans would be happy if they and Ipswich got promoted rather than they and Leeds.
