Don't suppose he will...... let's see if they back it up with any evidence. I have recently read a book about how the west and its media backed Boris Yeltsin when he gave himself dictatorial powers to bypass the newly constructed democracy in Russia allowing for the 'freeing' of their markets and the giving away of state assets to the oligarchs. Don't for one second believe that our state concern is based on humanitarianism!

The ex UK ambassador to Syria seems to think this is not as straightforward as a lot would like to beleive.
He seems to be talking about the response rather than whether the evidence for the attack is there.
Yes, he is right the response needs to be carefully thought out but I think it is a stretch to believe the attack did not take place. The fact the Kremlin is clearly spreading this disinformation shows their complicity.

He doesn't say the attack took place but that if it did it was Isis He has said similar thing before including accusing the UK media of 'spinning' the news from the area.
The whole thing is a mess & the efforts to get the Un to belly up to the bar should have happened a long while ago.

The problem with the UN is the vetoes.
Is it possible they get the chemical weapons without Russian support? Surely, if Russia was innocent they would be deflecting blame for the attacks rather than trying to deny their existence?

Your point on vetoes is a good one but all have used them including the UK The UN is not fully functional but that isn't down to just one nation althought the Americans are dominant in most issues

Hmm, I'm not sure. From half way through he casts very great doubt on the assertion that Assad is responsible for this 'attack'. Indeed, he goes as far as to say that he does NOT think it was him who was responsible for it and towards the end of the interview forcefully, and somewhat condescendingly, asserts that that it would make no sense for Assad to be responsible for it.
A somewhat thought provoking interview. Its almost as if he's speaking on Russia and Syria's behalf!

I must admit I didn't listen to the end!
ISIS would not make great sense (although that isn't conclusive proof it wasn't them). See the arguments GB has used on other threads.
The fact that Russia is taking the track of denial that it happened rather than shifting blame seems incriminating.
So they will have no issues with letting in the independent team the U.N. wanted to send in and let them make the decision on who did it without the right for a country to veto the final decision.

The Russians asked for international inspectors to go in several days ago.
