Lisbie Rejoins Colchester On Loan
Lisbie Rejoins Colchester On Loan
Monday, 3rd Aug 2009 16:37

Striker Kevin Lisbie has joined former club Colchester United on loan for the season. TWTD linked the frontman with a return to the North Essex club almost a month ago.

Lisbie joined the Blues for £750,000 a year ago and is contracted to Town until the summer of 2011.

The deal will see Lisbie remain with the U's until after the play-offs should they finish in League One's top six.

Are we going to sign up any strikers then?

Would of preferred to have sold him! Hardly surprising he's gone. Sincerely hope Keane has a striker in mind to bring in, not that I'm implying in any way that Lisbie should be the team!

we need to sign strikers how ever loosing lisbie on loan is no loss he did nothing for us last year

So, does this mean we're about to be introduced to a new signing? Surely we haven't let another frontman go without a replacement, have we?

Does take our striking options down ever furthur though, hopefully Colchester might decide to buy him in the January transfer window.

Good! hope Col U will be paying all his wages.... and buying him at the end of this loan for £1 million, oh i am getting carried away! Possibly the worse signing of last season.

I'm so pleased.... My guess is that if we don't sign a striker soon a season long deal has already been arranged for a young premiership striker.

I guess this means we could not give away our £750k signing so we had to arrange a loan where we pay some of the wages. Magilton's worst signing I think.

He never proved himself here, but surely if we getting rid we need to have replacements lined up before Coventry ?

I'm all for Lisbie leaving as i never really rated him. However we are now 5 days away from the first game of the season and we have 3 strikers on our books; Pablo (injured), Stead and Wickham (16 years old and never started a first team competitive game). I must admit after the excitement of Keane and then Clegg joining Town I expected a bit more at this stage!

So did Keane mean 1 or 2 Strikers knowing Lisbie was off? Or might we be going for 2 or 3 now? I can't help but think he had always planned to get rid of him though...

Good job , hes rubbish. Pitty we couldnt sell him. This must mean we have a striker that joining soon.

Have we missed out on Giovani dos Santos for sure yet ??? Think if we got him it would be a great signing can play anywhere attackive really.

Am I the only one NOT worried about the ITFC striker situation? Rhodes was destined to spend most of the season keeping the bench warm and Lisbie would have been a last resort after injuries / suspensions. RK's got the club just shy of £1m for Rhodes, and Lisbie off the wage bill.

RK clearly knows how he wants his team to line up (preferring 4-5-1 / 4-3-3) - his 3 senior signings have been round pegs for round holes balancing the side, and an improvement on what we had for those areas of the pitch.

When he does sign a centre forward (playing a single striker, as long as a couple from Stead / Counago & Wickham are fit and available, I'm not too concerned) I'm expecting someone with a bit of physical presence, good hold-up / back-to goal play, probably a bit of pace, and, like his other signings, an improvement on what we currently have - not expecting a so-called "20 goals a season" striker; Lisbie was one of those when we signed him...

Really no point in making rash signings just for the sake of getting numbers in - people seem to be forgetting already that's what we had under JM...

In Keano we trust!

WHAT IS KEANE DOING GETTING RID OF ONE OF ARE BEST PLAYERS OF LAST SEASON!!! NO ONE WILL REPLACE HIM THIS SEASON,,
what a stupid decision..

haha is a good job i have a sense of humour and like to joke because lisbe going will give keane a chance of getting someone else MUCH BETTER than DOUBLE L .. ( LAZY LISBE) ,

Well said blueboots! apart from delaney being an 'improvement' as a left back.. From what I've seen he looks no better than Thatcher did, but I'm sure he'll settle.
I don't know why people are commenting about the striker situation either saying 'this must mean we've got somebody else lined up.' Well done for being able to read the previous stories about keane chasing strikers and having deals lined up, you win no smart points for stating what we all already know. Even with no replacement coming in, Lisbie is what, 4th choice? It matters not.
Bring on the coventry.

Good luck Lisbie. I think he has been harshly dealt with by certain sections of our support, but it seems that Keane is looking for higher quality. And getting him out of the door means we have more to spend on the salaries of those we get in. So, job done, let's move on.
Also, wouldn't it be great if he sticks a couple past Norwich in the new League One derby in the first match of the season.

I think its wrong for so many people to slate Lisbie. He came here and wanted to score goals but it didn't work out for him, mainly due to an inept manager; how is any striker supposed to settle if he's playing in front of a different midfield every week?

With that said, I think its a good move for all parties concerned as Lisbie was generally considered as deadwood.

Good luck Kev, make sure you do the dirty on Norwich!

What many RK knockers don't understand is he is having to get rid of the rubbish Jim Magilton left us with (no wonder he thinks he has inherited a better crop of players at QPR than he left at Ipswich - who signed them Jim??).

Like others I would have preferred to have sold Lisbie - who in my opinion was one of the worst signings in recent history. Sadly, no other club wanted to spend good money on him.

Nonetheless, just knowing he won't be playing next year is a real bonus.

Well done Roy. Prove the doubters and Jim lovers wrong.

Lisbie was aweful, terrible in fact, glad to see the back of him but we must have the smallest squad in the championship and we are lacking a player in midfield if shumi goes, who didnt really set the world alight.
