Priskin Having Town Medical
Priskin Having Town Medical
Thursday, 6th Aug 2009 15:41

Watford striker Tamas Priskin is undergoing a medical at Portman Road, the Blues and Hornets having agreed a £1.7 million fee for the Hungarian international. TWTD was first to break the news of Town's interest in the 22-year-old last Thursday.

Earlier this week, Priskin’s agent József Vörösbaranyi confirmed that the Blues had made an offer for the striker, believed to be in the region of £1.2 million, which the Hertfordshire club turned down. However, Vörösbaranyi indicated that he felt a deal would ultimately be done.

Meanwhile, we understand the Blues are also moving closer to signing Sunderland striker Daryl Murphy. Yesterday, TWTD revealed that Town had renewed their efforts to land the Irish international.

Elsewhere, Bohemians manager Pat Fenlon has issued a hands-off warning to the Blues regarding goalkeeper Brian Murphy and midfielder Gary Deegan: "Gary and Brian won't be leaving before the [Irish] season is over [in November]."

As we reported yesterday, the Blues are understood to be interested in Murphy, while Deegan was linked with Town a fortnight ago.

sammasiabou what are you on about - get rid of keane and you cant possibly say he doesnt have passion for the game, of course he does - and i dont see why we cant sign Gio because he came last season and really liked it here plus spurs need to get rid of him or at leasdt give him some more experience as you are aware he didnt spend all season with us here!

Great, looks like we've finally got him. Would rather see Jan Venegoor of Hesselink as previously rumoured than Murphy come in to play alongside him though.

Taken from the spurs fans site, that my mate administers.

""Ipswich manager Roy Keane has confirmed he is interested in re-signing Tottenham forward Giovani dos Santos.

The 20-year-old Mexican played eight games on loan at Portman Road at the tail end of last season, scoring four goals, and Keane is hopeful of persuading Spurs boss Harry Redknapp to allow him to return.

Keane said: "I spoke to Harry Redknapp about Gio when he was here last year.

"Big clubs know the players get looked after here and are coming to a real club and a manager that will make sure they will train properly and be on time.

"That hopefully helps in our dealing with any Premier League teams.""

If you look at GDS's profile on the official Spurs site is says Ipswich Town 2009/2010!

If the Priskin deal goes through then its a good bit of business, he looks pretty tasty and from reading the feedback from Watford fans he looks like he will be missed!

Happy we have a striker, have a feeling it is a move slightly over-priced. Time will tell.

Would be great if he does sign, I know a few Watford fans who seem to think he has a great all round game, but can get caught offside a few too many times, but is starting to mature into a real talent. Given a bit of time to settle I think he will be a great signing.

Noticed on the Watford website that they think there is a sell-on clause in the contract...anyone know what % we would be giving back to Watford should we sell him in the future?

I still can't believe people think geo will come back to us. If he does we are a dead cert for promotion. Geo, priskin and murphy would make our squad unstoppable but lets not get carried away. 1 of the three would be nice

From what I've heard Spurs cant get rid of him for the money they want, so if theres no other clubs willing to take him I think he could be a possibility. EADT (also quoted by topps) says Keane has already spoken to Redknapp. Untill a time comes when someone wants to sign him permanently I think he could still be a prospect, even though he's head and shoulders above most of the forwards in the CCC. I'm keeping hope, maybe clutching at straws, but im happy with the side as it stands.

would like to have shittu here aswell for around 2mill - hes worth it and is so much better than that guy they call a CB (Gareth Mcauley) i mean we paid £1.2m for him more like £1.20 - complete and utter waste of money with him get rid of him and get shittu in!!! I mean lets face it leicster got relegated with him - doesnt that say anything!!! USELESS

If we do bring in someone else upfront, what a change in just a couple of months - Priskin, Wickham and Martin. Power, youth and speed. Cooool.

So, I wonder why Spurs have decided to change the profile this afternoon on their own website? Maybe Keane wants to keep it under wraps until the ink is dry. See

and make your own mind up. I know this still looks a long shot but dream on ITFC as you never know! I'm not a holy man but I may say a prayer tonight before bed time :-D

I would over the moon if we got Gio back! but I won't believe it or get carried away until I see him wearing a town shirt on the hollow turf standing next to Keane in front of the press. Priskin: I think will prove to be a good signing for us I really do, I agree with an earlier post saying he does tend to get off side too much, but technically he's a very good player and composed in front of goal. Murphy......Can't help but think he's over-rated and we could well be paying over the odds for him...but I'd love him to prove me wrong nevertheless.

Also post saying that McAuley is useless....not entirely convinced by that comment. We looked far better with him playing last season than when he wasn't!
