U18s Lose to Fulham
U18s Lose to Fulham
Saturday, 14th Nov 2009 13:11

Town's U18s fell to a 3-0 defeat to Fulham at Playford Road on Saturday morning.

The U18s, who were without striker Ronan Murray, who is away with Ireland, fielded loan keeper Mirko Ranieri in goal. The Italian joined until the end of the season from Spurs earlier in the week.

A disappointing morning for the academy was compounded by the U16s losing 5-0, also against Fulham.

U18s: Ranieri, Jones, Eastman, McKeown, Cramner, Carson, Cawley, Brandon (Butcher 75), Clark (Bennett 46), Lambe, Lavery. Unused: Traynier, Duzgun.

I presume Fulham are now investing fairly heavily in their academy given both sets of results?

The game was not great due to the weather. The result was fair, though town were without a few players that normally start. Fulham looked like a really good side and I could see a couple of their players going on to better things.

I belive Connor Wickham is now a full time first team squad player, although still part of the academy because of his age. Playing U18 would not progress his development.
